I have 1000 ormore sets on transparencies, what to do with them? Samples inside.

Decided it's time to make a decision about all the sets we have on transparencies. Got over 1000 of them and need to either sell them or dump them. At the moment I'm scanning them as fast as I can. They were shot from 1988 to 2005. Now only shoot digital.

Any suggestions? Serious ones please.

More to come as I scan.

I'd buy this for $70 to scan them in - unless you have something better, then sell them to folks who specialize in "vintage" content.

Paul,

I am facing the same thing. I have an assistant now going through all my film, pulling my "a" edits, then trashing the balances of the slides. My "a" edits are about 200-220 chromes. That's my first step. Then I am doing 4k digital scans on my Nikon Coolscan 5000 at 5000x4000 300dpi. That way i still have publication rez. After I approve the scans we trash the slides. There is no use for them anymore. DVD backup is made of the scans, and a jpg edit at full rez but 100dpi is made for internet sales. I make an archive copy by filling removable 1TB Hard Drives and putting them in storage.

Bottom line TRASH THE CHROMES. They are useless, and even magazines are taking all digital now. You will never need more than a 200 image edit, and it might as well be the best stuff. Remember slide DUPES lol!

Its tough to throw out your slides, I know it! But you have to. Find a cheap college kid to scan your stuff. Just make sure he color corrects first. i usually do the first scan of a set and set up the exposure profile. Then I save the profile as that set number.

I miss Andrea Spinks. She was an angel

Hope this helps.

Got a better scanner than that and getting the Nikon 2000 and 4000 repaired. Will be scanning everything from the old days and yes seeing if there is a market in the retro content. I will be launching Astral Blue one of these days.

I figured you likely did, but I thought it was a neat gadget, unlike the almost-entirely-pointless cassette to MP3 converter they want $80 for.

Retro is about the only way people who like bushes can find content - I've got a friend whose so hardcore into seeing an actual bit of fluff that he's buying old porn off of craigslist/ebay.

Good luck on the launch!

send them to me. I will scan it. and we will place them here under sets available for Magazines. i assume you have like 216 pics per set. I will charge you 45$ per set. It is my cost to scan.. You can bring back this money right away. Plus NOW these sets will be exposed to the editors to see it online.

http://classycontent.com/?page=conte...t=magazinesets here is the section for magazine sets.
I just started to do that with my 300 magazine sets on slides

First 3 sets are the scans i just made.

Peace

She came to me one day, broke, willing and ready. A few years later she was a star. Great girl and a lot of fun. Also one of the sexiest girls I've shot. She looks cute and teasing or even a bit innocent. She was none of those.

Doing exactly the same, except doing them on a flat bed scanner for the time being. The Nikons are being repaired and when they are back they will go through these sets a lot quicker. Both have hopper feeders.

I spoke to every picture agent and magazine I know and none are taking them at even $100 a set. So I doubt if there is a market for them. Will scan and burn them.

I know, times are changing fast. Magazines are fast becoming a waste of time. I stopped shooting for most of them because it is not worth it. Best thing I think you can do is find a web partner that wants to do a retro style site and market the f@#k out of it for you. Then pour everything into that and get/split the sales yourself.

J. Stephen Hicks and I are working on a project that will take me to Prague and Bruno. Are you up for a visitor?

Do you mean they do not want to get old ones for 100 or bulk deal for 100$?
How much do they pay now for raw sets? and you did not like my idea? i got no responce..

Find an intern or cheap college kid and have them scan them all. Too much grunt work to do it yourself but they are worth saving for sure.

We're finding exactly the same. We still have a few magazine clients left but most have gone or only using reprints. I'm going to scan the lot and then put up my own site unless I find someone to run the site for us.

You and Stephen are very welcome here, just hit me up on ICQ to chat.

The content covers our production from 1985 to 2005 and has a lot of different sets and girls. The styles have changed a bit as styles changed in the business. The people I spoke to were agents and magazine publishers who will take new sets on digital. I got the impression they did not want the bother of scanning and cleaning them.

Don't see us paying you $45 a set to scan though. We can do it ourselves. You can send me some samples of what you have done. If you want digital sets to sell to magazines hit me up on ICQ.
