We just renewed several domains with them the other day and they are showing as renewed.

Looks like a DNS problem or their hosting company is down.

Want to expand on that comment???? Gord and his company has been nothing but top notch for many years.

I take it you are a competitor or something? Please explain in great detail why you are making these accusations.

The world once to know.

If they ever had a problem all your domains would fall to tucows.com So you would not lose them. You would just have to transfer them.

Danielle

Danielle, how can you be so oblivious to years of complaints about Gord and his practices? You've been around a looong time. You really didn't know?

Never had a problem ever with him or his company. Always had top notch service and if we had even a small problem he personally took care of it.

So no.

Pick a forum anywhere and do a search. It's pretty hard to miss. He has a habit of being aggressive and not helping customers with transfers away from his registrar to the point of almost hijacking their domains and locking them out. Naturally, if you aren't selling your names or forget to renew them before the expire date, you probably wouldn't have experienced it. He bypasses the redemption period and auctions your names to other customers. You don't have the normal redemption period that other registrars have.

Actually we have transfered many domains to other registrars from domainnamesystems.com and have never experienced that. All transfers have went well. I don't get it. Am I special???

Can you show some proof of your accusations?????

Just do a search on Cheapies or DomainNameSystems, Danielle. It's pretty hard to miss. I can't do it for you. GFY has a policy against linking to other forums.

I see what you are talking about, but. We have several hundred domains with them and have never experienced any of the problems others have had with them.

I know of 23 domains we have sold and had zero problems with transferring them to other registrars.

I'll contact Gord and see what he has to say about this.

Danielle

Bruj, I'm with Danielle and Ben. I've had an account there over 10 years now. Hundreds and hundreds of domains. Never a problem.

In fact the reverse ... stunningly fast customer service every time. Even once getting back for me a major domain that somehow got past my notice renewing. I have nothing but good, make that outstanding, words for the service and rep of Domain Name Systems.

In a nutshell, I've been with them over a decade for a single reason: they earned it and keep earning it!!!

Sounds to me that a few idiots (as usual) have some other motive or BS axe to kill. Yeah it's the GFY way, I know. Blather on but maybe pick a company worth trashing instead of DNS.

I've gone through it personally. I've lost some of my best domains because I was on vacation and did't get in the first few days of the expiration date and they were put on sale. This also happened recently and he was nice enough to sell me my domain back for $1600.

I lost 3 domains with Domain Name Systems. Yes, they were paid for - they registered them incorrectly with enom and put them under their name instead of mine. I had ZERO access to them. I put in numerous trouble tickets, emailed, even tried to call Gord as I had met him. Nothing. Nada.

I contacted DirectNic and got everything moved over ASAP (except those 3 domains, obviously).

Let's not forget the .xxx domains he was selling........

In the past i've had good service from DomainNameSystems.com and
Connie has been reasonably quick to reply to my issues.

However i've always had a nightmare trying to transfer domains away from them having contacted them 2 months in advance, and then been ignored or got the run around as to whether they needed paperwork or digital paperwork, and who from (me or new host)
and then when the new host would contact them, they claimed that they never received contact. So for 2 or 3 years I always ended up spending my money with them again.
from wHT (t=621407):

With the new EPP/Auth Code system, I knew this was going to happen and it did. DomainNameSystems.com / Cheapies.com is not providing the EPP/Auth Code for a domain so that you can transfer it away from them. I have 23 domains I want to remove from there service and after 14 emails, 5 voice messages, 2 letters to ICANN, 1 to Internic they have yet to respond and provide me with the codes needs to transfer. Pretty much they're holding my domains and not alwaying me to leave there service.

I can't move my domains away from them, i can't update their whois, also i don't have my info in the whois. They have horrible support, and i also had serious downtimes because of them. I can't update my primary/secondary ns also, it's just does not take effect.

To be honest, WORST REGISTAR EVER!

back when they started when NetSol was no longer a monopoly they were great

unfortunately they never changed their interface which was unusable

then I think the tactic was to become obstructive to clients trying to leave

Well then, gawd knows the last thing you should ever do is take any personal responsibility then. Obviously it's the other guy's fault every time.

That guy is a complete scumbag. I highly recommend you get your domains as far away from him as possible.

Do you know what the Redemption Period is Dravyk? Cheapies/DNS bypasses that and sells your names before they hit Redemption to other customers. Unos name had only been expired 10 days I believe, and hadn't even been put into the Registry Hold.

It's not a typical practice. It may not even be allowed. He should complain to ICANN and Verisign.

When mine have expired , some up to two weeks, all I had to do was pay the renewal and I got them back..,

I don't agree with that.

Some people become impacient with the transfer procedure and go ballistic fearing
that their domain is messed up/stolen etc...but they only needed to wait a few more
days.

Why does it take a while? Probably being extra cautious about domain theft.
A few days might be what someone needs to figure things out if their account
password was found out and domains transfered.

There's a lot of people here who probably wish epassporte had delayed payments
when their accounts were compromised.
(please don't delay payments if reading this epass)

It's probably because no one offered to buy them on his auction or whatever he has for recently expired domains.

I am not going to get into any long discussions about this, but I have used these people since 1999 and have had zero issues with them.

I have even had hell with a couple of other registrars trying to yank my chain when I tried to transfer them from those to my account at domain name systems and they have gone after them FOR me to help me get them transferred. Godaddy in fact worked me over once saying I had to fax this and that in and when I did, it didn't suit them...... I contacted domain name systems and they had it resolved for me within 24 hours.

Their support has always been top notch for me.

Same here.

I guess noone remembers the shady tactics of networksolutions sending out domain
expiration letters to people who were regged at other registrars.

But I'm sure you can find a lot more complainers; they tend to come in 12 packs.

To be honest, WORST REGISTAR EVER!
When I change DNS it takes about 2 hours to fully resolve so I have no clue why
you have problems.

They are too shady for me and I would move in any case. Try to do a whois on their domains and you often get jack sh-t. Bigger chance winning the lottery...

I worked with a girl who loved her Yugo. Yugo was still a crappy manufacturer.

If you love DNS then by all means stay with them. But that doesn't negate the problems I and many others have had.

I've been in the biz 10 years and counting now. I've registered with gord since the begining. I've had up to 200 domains in the account at once, sold many domains out of it, transfered, etc, never had 1 issue. I had some minor issues with setting up some dns stuff, but it was all resolved within 48hrs. I've always had support responses within 48hrs as well.

Just stating my experience with his company... Its been perfect.
