To Glam or not to Glam... (Photoshop thread)

What do you think surfers prefer better? Up until now I fixed just zits, stretch marks etc, but do you think they would prefer the whole thing fixed up? Examples....

No offence, but just overlaying a blurred layer is not my idea of fixing up.

I would go for the "natural" version so no glam.

-edit- and by "natural" I mean the basic photoshopping of zits etc

Agreed 100%

I think leveling it off bit would make it look better too. it really depends on the audience. For our main site audience they prefer a more naturally shot look so we keep retouching to a minimum. But I can imagine a more mainstream porn surfer wanting more photoshoped pics...

It depends on the site audience, obviosly people joining an amatuer site dont want to see fixed shots.

Your before and afters are much of a muchness.

Your girls are hot, and you're a nice guy.... so when I say this DO NOT take offsense:
Those photos look glow-blurred. Those aren't "retouched".

Both would look good if done glam CORRECTLY.

The second example pics you posted look better to me, my personal preference would probably be somewhere in the middle. I always tend to "over-smooth" photos I use in designs, so what I do is retouch the photo til it looks good in my opinion, and then knock 50% off

When it comes to amateur I'd say just remove the zits if anything... for pro-am sites a bit of glam is good, but for full glamourization to work, you need studio photoshoots a la Dean Capture.

Also, every set is different, that's why actions rarely work. And when using the blur filter you must be careful to blur only the skin... mask away the features and the background, cuz otherwise it gives it away ;) It is also a myth that more saturation always works, sometimes less saturation works better... if you want some help hit me up I am busy nowadays, but can always talk for a bit...

Here are my versions:

Just quickies but you get the idea =)

That's a slippery slope. Once I start retouching, I don't know when to stop. I'd say adding some 'pop' with saturation and curves is fine and taking out pimples, but when you get to the soft glow stage, you've gone too far. *Unless you're making a graphic for something*

Airbrush to remove imperfections but don't make it look fake. Keep the texture of the skin.

What he said.

However, it's one thing to take a bad photo and try to 'glam it up' and it's another thing to actually shoot a glam photo from the get go. Since the photos are bad to start with, just make them all an amateur set.

It's a fuckin shame to see such a hot girl with the best tits on the planet, being shot in such a bad way.
