Not true. Wells Fargo charges $21 for it whether or not they can collect. Collection time is up to three weeks.

Personally i think checks are as ancient as Commodore 64.

If you deal with a lot of sponsors, checks are still the way to go in the U.S. I'd rather not pay the $30 fee for each sponsor. I'd be all for ACH but am surprised how few companies offer it.

you should be able to get an account plan that doesn't charge you for US checks. On the shitty side, after cashing US checks for 10 years my bank wants to hold them. Dumbfucks.

Do all of you guys just complain about the charges or did you talk to your bank people to see about alternate options? I was going to get charged per check and told them it was unacceptable.. They had me open a US dollars biz account so I don't get charged anything.

La Caixa in Spain and Rabobank in Nederlands used to let me bulk my cheques together and charge me only once.

Adultbouncer cheques were a fucker for me to cash as they were in USD from a Canadian bank. the charges were $60-70 cant remeber the exact amount.

I pay just 1% of the check amount for it to be deposited on my account. I think that's fair.

Sponsors should definitely switch to wire transfers, faster, more secure, and in EU, it costs only $2.50 to make an international wire transfer, while it costs $4+ posting fees to send a check. So in that aspect EU is ahead of USA.

Australia - StGeorge bank.
$10.50 per check, or $15.30 for 3 checks.

Fucken shits me to no end. I welcome Epassporte payments. Best thing that happened.

Never been charged for depositing a check, from the U.S or anywhere else. International wire transfer fees on the other hand are ridiculous. $30 charge from the program, and another $30 charge from the bank. $60 every 2 weeks X 26 = $1,560 for ONE program.

You should consider contacting your sponsor. If I had a sponsor who was a good guy, sending me a decent number of signups each month, I'd be more than happy to add an additional percentage point or two to his payout to make up for the check cashing fees.

over here is about 5 EUR or 1% of the check (larger amount is paid)...
but not same situation in all banks...

PS:
Trusted bank customers, on checks below $500, get cash right away!
(no waiting for collections)

PPS: I prefer ePassporte! It lowers costs + no need going to bank!

Holy shit thats pretty steep.I paid about £12.00 ($17.54) for mine over here in the UK. If I use Barcalys bank its half the price but I have to wait a lot longer for the check to clear

I used to have a US$ business account in UK with HSBC to avoid such charges. The only time I paid a fee was when I transfered by salary for US $ business account to my checking account once a month.

If you're paying that much you may as well switch to wire and a less frequent payout (and/or a higher minimum payout level)

I got a nasty surprise when HSBC sent off 5 cheques for collection, as well as their local commission (which was a few bucks USD) a further $USD25 had mysteriously disappeared from the value of each cheque. They said it was the USA bank's fees. Funny that 5 different banks all charged exactly the same fee, eh?

I prefer the speed and reliability of wires, but the fees can be high. For a Cdn bank to receive an international wire is a $20 fee, but it's free to deposit a cheque from whereever.

I get 30 transactions not including wires am month before I pay. Then it is only $1 each afterwards

We always go over the limit but at least it's not $30 for one check

Why not just set your limit to 500.00 USD instead of cashing small checks.

by the end of the year, we should have a small network of bank accounts in foreign countries to make it easier for international companies affiliates to get their funds.

working on that plan now matter of fact

We offer epass and checks, and wires if your getting paid over $1000. It costs us $25 - $30 to send a wire, and we get charged $20 or so for incoming wires.

That being said I know a lot of our EU webmasters that are paid by check set their minimum payments higher as the check fees are quite high.
