Rats!

I had one as a pet when I was a kid. Then as an adult I read a magazine article about the NYC rat problem and stories from the people that try to control them. I had no idea that rats will eat all the flesh of people's fingers and ears and stuff while they are lying in bed, still alive. Babies and the elderly are especially at risk. That freaks me out
