Anythoughts on the Jamis full suspension mountain bikes? I'm looking to spend as lil as possible but I want something that really nice.

Depends what you will be doing with the bike... I bought a Gary Fisher last month which is doing me pretty well.

jamis makes solid bikes for the price. if i were to buy a new fs bike, jamis would be one of my top considerations.

take a look at craigslist..I have found some great deals on quality bikes there..alot of peeps buy new bikes..ride em 3-4 times and they sit in the garage..good as new.

That's a nice bike. I would have bought something much better than what I did, but seeing as I have a bad leg disability the one I got is sufficient.

Jamis makes some decent bikes for the price. I assume you are going to be riding pretty mild singletrack trails. If that's the case, don't make the mistake of buying a bike with a bunch of travel built for downhill. You only need 3 or 4 inches of travel in the rear. More than that and you can barely pedal it. In fact, 99% of singletrack trails you can ride on a hardtail.

Make sure to get a bike that fits you as well.

Post up the model you are looking at.

Excellent point. Make sure you buy a bike that fits your needs. I have 3 bikes in total one being a downhill bike with 8" of travel and weighs 36lbs+ and you won't want to be riding that up any hills and single track/general cross country won't be that much fun.

Most decent light hardtails or short travel suspension bikes will climb like mountain goats.

Check on Craigslist. You can find pretty much anything nice and cheap there.

I would look at:
De Vinci Frantik3
or
Cove STD..

Not sure what your price range is or how much hard riding you will be doing but these two will deal with just about anything you can ride on/down/over/off of...

Depends on how hardcore you are. If you are just going out once in a while and doing light single track and fire roads with your climb to down hill ratio around 50/50 than you probably don't need that much bike and can get away with a hard tail.

You might be better off buying a hardtail that will come with better parts for right around the same price, maybe even a bit cheaper.

You can usually get really good deals on Jamis hardtails (like the Komodo 3) that are 2006 or 2007 models. Under $1k and full hydro brakes, good fork, and a mix of LX and XT drivetrain parts.
