All these things play a part. That's why the drop in conversions over the years is so interesting.

Back when CJs and linklists were king, if you wanted easy, quick access to porn pics, you pretty much needed a membership.

The rise of fairly clean TGPs meant that easy, quick access to pics became free. So, the people who wanted that stopped being buyers. Those who wanted vids or full sets of pics still needed to buy.

The rise of MGPs meant that easy, quick access to short vids became free. So, the people who just needed that stopped being buyers. Those who wanted full vids or full sets of pics still needed to buy.

And now, the current situation:

The rise of tubes means that easy, quick access to full scenes is now free. Only those who want high quality need to buy.

The rise of filesharing sites means that high quality scenes are now free. Only those who want ease of use and fast, unlimited downloads need to buy.

The rise of torrent sites means that high quality, unlimited downloads are now free. Only those without technical knowledge and those who want ease of need to buy.

So, essentially, only those without technical knowledge, who want high quality, and aren't willing to put up with the hassle of tube sites or filesharing forums need to buy. Basically, the pool of people with a reason to buy has lost much of its size.

Once tube sites start providing higher quality, conversion rates will go down even further. At some point in the future, only very specific fetishes, extremely exclusive content and extremely high quality content will have a selling point, which will appeal to a very limited audience.

Compare it to a store giving everything away for free next to a Walmart. At first, they only give away breathmints, but every week, they add a new product to their inventory. After a while, the Walmart will be in trouble. Because while free breathmints won't dissuade people from buying pizzas, free sandwiches will dissuade some, and free pizzas will dissuade most.
YOU NAILED IT!

The is the best answer on the topic of tube sites in adult, they should have put you on the XBIZ Tube round table (Note to AVN / XBIZ -> pay this guy to write an article for you mag)

www.dickdhare.com is a GAY legal tube site that all of the content is provided by the producers.

Try to upload a clip that doesn't belong to you and watch what happens.

not trying to be a dick, but your site is showing 3minute+ long movie clips with cumshots for free. I thought the problem is that tube sites are killing the industry because theyre giving it all away for free. But your site is giving it all away for free too.

In fact, many are already becoming more and more sponsor friendly by offering paid spots. That's going to be what they evolve into.

Someone will come in here and say I'm clueless, probably someone who nobody has any idea what they do in the business. But all I can say is bookmark this thread and this post and check on it in December.

P.S. Redtube has been pretty legit for some time now. I wouldn't even consider it an illegal tube site anymore. People need to get off of GFY and surf around their market a little bit.
While you are absolutely right, it isn't necessarily good news for the industry. Free full scenes being the standard lowers conversion rates, even if those scenes are provided by sponsors. A legit tube featuring thousands of full scenes is just as harmful to the industry as an illegal tube, in that respect.

It's an inevitable development, of course. But for many in this industry, it will be a very painful one.

i do it because most time the internal search engine is WORSE at finding the stuff you want then google is.

Look for technical docs on msdn it is so much easier to find exactly what you want using google and negation operators.

There's nothing better than seeing pathetic little bitches like you fail.

The pathetic is part is that you're blaming other people for your fail. You're even to stupid to realize it's your own fucking fault.

Anyway, i don't even give a shit who's fault it is, it's fun to watch anyway. Loser.

They are also linked to the sponsor and they are only 3 minutes. I have no problem with tube sites. I am not anti-tube just as long as link to where you can buy it. If you want to film a 2 hour porno scene and put it on Redtube, that is your own business. Good luck making money on it. My problem is where they just steal my content and there isn't an link anywhere on the page to my site. That's called stealing and stealing is wrong.

It's always funny when you talk ethics.

You had no problem putting hidden prechecked xsells on your join pages a while back because that made you money but when when someone fucks you over you cry like the pathetic fag you are.
