when will people get that "riots" have nothing to do with the purported "issue". people don't riot because they care or because they want positive change or to improve anything. they riot because they are shitheads looking for trouble... and they should be treated as such in any civilized society and be quickly, brutally put down.

What an idiotic post, they riot because they are shit heads looking for trouble?

Yeah they just happen to protest on the day of the G20 and fly banners asking for change.

Of course I care about that, but mindless violence and damaging property wont make any difference at all to what the bankers have done. We already pay enough taxes and are having our "freedom to express ourselfs" eradicated. The more these demonstrations become violent the less the government will tolerate them and that would be another one of our "rights" taken away from us.

yeah... i see that. all the anarchists in some of those pics, asking for change. "asking for change" isn't done by the destruction of property and causing millions of dollars in damages.

and pretending that a large segment of these people don't go to these events specifically to start shit is idiotic.

Sometimes you have to raise some shit to be heard. Just going out and protesting just isn't enough. They would much rather have peaceful protests over this stuff because they're much easier to ignore.

from your own news links:

"Anarchists smashed windows of the building on Threadneedle Street near the Bank of England and looted office equipment and papers, throwing smoke grenades, chairs and eggs."

hahaha... "asking" for change.

Protest = fair and valid speech

Riot = unfair senseless violence

Sucks when one becomes the other because whatever point was being made becomes kind of moot.

Last time I was in london I had to walk back to my hotel from dinner because of all the bomb threats.

My taxi driver gave up and said no charge but you may have to walk I can't get you any closer.

In my mind i'm thinking.. Do I really want to be anywhere near these bomb threats?

and people should be standing there waiting to shoot you as you destroy property and hurt people and cause 1000's of police/law enforcement to risk their lives to protect innocent lives and property.... not to mention heads of state.

If it was up to me these heads of states should be shot and hung from street light poles. Guess we see things differently.

This protest wont change anything, not everybody agrees with what these people came to say. I think the fact the turnout was so small proves that. Not everybody wants to be green, not everybody even agrees with all the bullshit about climate change for example. These people are extremists and if they were muslims you would be calling for their heads.

Fuck them they are useless hippies, or people not willing to take responsibility for their own fuck ups and debts and choose to blame everything on the banks.

you have no concept of the principles of law and order and that they apply to everyone. you have no real understanding that you don't have the "right" to destroy the property of others and to risk peoples lives.

your problem is with authority... and rooted in a profound inability to accept personal responsibility and accountability. thats why you can't be reasoned with to begin with. thats why you can't respect the rule of law or the political process or differences in opinions and views. you chose not to be a part the system that everyone has agreed to, the political process, the making and changing of laws and seek only to violently attack it because you "oppose it" for [insert ANY attempt at rationalizing it here].

fine. i think that's totally ok by the way. i see nothing wrong with revolution. i see it as a necessary evil at times. but i also, understand that we live in a world of laws... choosing to ignore them, to hurt others, to destroy property etc doesn't put you on the higher moral ground. in fact, just the opposite. i would take immense pleasure in sitting back with a rifle and shooting people who did and the world would be a better place for it. we would have less idiots and more reasonable, rational people... ultimately less of a drain on social programs and education and a much more productive society.

Some of them are the types that riot any chance they get to 'stick it' to 'the man'. The G20 is like the world cup for these types because they get to break windows in front of so many world leaders all at once.

How come so many of this type of protester can't answer what change they would actuallly like to see other than 'change?'. They just tend to rattle off a whole bunch of things that they know they will never actually be satisfied about regardless of what governments do. Somehow breaking windows and threatening people going to work will get that change? I am not sure I would want the kind of change that was brought about by threats to harm people for going to work.

People in London are kind of used to security threats from the IRA days. After a while you can sort of stick your thumb in the air and figure out if it is a real alert or somebody just left an unattended bag.

Sure there are going to be a few knob heads but lets be honest, do the government ever listen when people march peacefully? I think everyone got the point with the IRA - the government listens when they have no choice, when people take matters into their own hands.

I don't agree with the riots and all of that, but it is just a matter of time that people get sick of being lied to and having money stolen from the very people who are supposed to protect it.
