Best Chocolate?!

I just finished a nice Lindt dark chocolate bunny. Stayed away from the Godiva and the Guylian this year.

It got me wondering...

what's your favorite brand of chocolates?

ghiradelli mostly, yet as long as it is a dark semi sweet with at least 60% cocoa it is pretty hard to find a bad one.

Cadbury's but only from England/GB.

When I lived in the middle east the Cadbury's was disappointing, they add all these ingredients so that it doesn't melt as easily and thus taking away from the flavor.

Whatever fancy brand it is that Aly sends me for my birthday every year is just simply the best chocolate I have ever ever had. It comes from France by express and is still cold when it gets here the same day.

I am weird in that I don't actually like milk chocolate all that much but I love really dark chocolate.

Good chocolate is well just that good chocolate. Technically my favorite is from this local candy shop but that would be of zero use to anyone outside of my town - so I went with a brand I figure most could get anywhere.

I would have to give most credit to the Dutch when it comes to chocolate.
Major issue with Cadburys that companies should never ever have if their name is on it. The Cadburys may be fantastic in the UK or elsewhere - in the US they are pretty much very low end until very recently and that is just with their specialty bars. Honestly they are not much more different than Hershey. The standard issue is crapy milk chocolate.

Not knocking hershey's or cadburys really. I know hershey has at very least earned its right to be around due to its innovations early on - less than the dutch though.

People over here don't like American chocolate. It took me a while to figure it out but the main difference is American chocolate, as they get over here, is very powdery in texture vs British chocolate which is very creamy. Being a PA gal, I have nostalgia for Hershey (great factory tour there too) but every time I have it I get their point. The normal 'off the store shelf' candy bars are better quality chocolate over here. Cadbury's is very creamy milk chocolate for just normal bars. Though, as far as that level of British chocolate goes I vote for Galaxy over Cadbury's.

For really good chocolates that are better than just a chocolate bar for kids then I go for Dark Belgian chocolates over the rest...mmmmmmmmm

I get ya as I really do not like American chocolate much either (well brand name). My point I guess was that Cadbury tastes like American chocolate over here. Would not surprise me in any way to learn that they make it in a different way here either. I guess it does not pass the Coke or Budweiser type test - tastes the same everywhere you go.

Over the counter Lindt is amazing and readily available. I usually go for the dark orange or dark mint bar.

Next in line for me is Vosges. http://www.vosgeschocolate.com/
They make some of the most interesting bars out there. They have a great Black Pearl bar that has Wasabi and ginger in it which is out of the world.

Boutique chocolates I have to go with Chocolate Bar NYC http://www.chocolatebarnyc.com/
Granted this is my fucked up Ex's store but her quality and attention to detail on the bars is amazing. I still send interns there to get me the dark chocolate NYC pretzel bar.

Yes, I eat alot of chocolate... and these are my recomendations...

I love Green & Black's cherry chocolate. It's $4 a bar here, but so worth it I keep it in the fridge and eat a square now and then, so it lasts a while.

Otherwise I love trying different RitterSport bars. My fave so far is Marzipan!

Very, very true. US chocolate tastes different even from Canadian chocolate. I thought Cadburys was all the same, but it's not
