:2cents Kentucky Derby!

Usually I help people out making money with their dating and webcam traffic and in this post I'm going to help you make some money betting on the ponies... let's hope my handicapping skills are as equally as good as my affiliate skills.

So, the big favorite of the day, I Want Revenge is scratched! I haven't the foggiest idea why, but I assume it has to with track condition rather than any problem with this golden boy (I think) --If so, perhaps some of these other Polytrak beauties might be something to look at...

It is still early and the track was this muddy and sloppy last year at this time and ended up drying out fairly well before the big race.

Here is my very early provisional superfecta: 6-7-1\6-7-1-15\6-7-1-15-12-19\6-7-1-15-12-19-16 ALT (WILDCARD) #2 Musket Man 20-1 - it's not cheap but in a field this big you have to cover your bases.

Will also be interesting to see if Todd Pletcher can finally break his curse. Once again he's entered a number of horses into the race.

Happy Derby Day all!

"And dowwwwn the stretch they come!"

It's hard to pick against Dunkirk, especially with Revenge scratched.

This is the biggest bunch of turdballs I've ever seen in the Derby. It could possibly be the worst ever.

There's no real speed in the race, even though Pletcher will send Join In the Dance as a rabbit. And even if there were, there's not any great closers to take advantage of it.

The Derby is always crowded, but this is going to be one big clusterfuck with everyone even more packed together than usual. It's going to come down to racing luck and getting a good trip.

Friesan Fire or Regal Ransom are the only ones I see that have the ability to take an early lead and possibly keep it on a sloppy track.

This might be the year that Godolphin finally gets a return on the millions that the Sheikh has invested. Or a horse that never raced as a 2-year-old, like Dunkirk, has a chance.

Here's my analysis of your horses:

6 - Friesan Fire - An improving horse that should run close to the lead. He beat a mediocre field in the Louisiana Derby.

7 - Papa Clem - Beaten by Friesan Fire in Louisiana and then beat a light field in the Arkansas Derby.

1 - West Side Bernie - An improving horse who has not shown much.

15 - Dunkirk - The most impressive horse in the field whose lack of racing experience makes it hard to recommend, but too talented to ignore.

12 - General Quarters - I picked him on looks to win Blue Grass. Everyone's sentimental pick for the Derby.

19 - Desert Party - Originally thought to be the Sheikh's best shot, but Godolphin's other entry, Regal Ransom, has been better.

16 - Pioneerof the Nile - Easily the best in the west who's on a roll. I'm partial to the California horses.

2 - Musket Man - Illinois Derby winner is not bred to go the classic distances but has one of my favorite jockeys, Eibar Coa, making the ride.

I'd have it 6-10-15-16. Regal Ransom is the 10. If you want some shots take 11 (Chocolate Candy) or 3 (Mr Hot Stuff).

Mikey, that may be the longest post I have ever seen you make, but I definitely agree! The race is a mess in general. Might as well draw names out of a hat... no clear stand outs for sure. But then again, it should be interesting to watch it pan-out.

I think I'll play it like a lottery and just do some random 3 number trifecta boxes and hope for a longshot jackpot

I like handicapping big races like the Triple Crown and Breeders Cup because you know the trainers are trying to win on those days.

This friend of mine can't decide who he likes, so I told him to throw the numbers into a hat.

Last minute bet along with my superfecta. Wish me luck!

$1 Exacta: 1, 6, 7, 15 / 1, 6, 7, 12, 15, 16, 19. Best $24 I ever spent. Keyword being "spent".

ahahahahahahaha - that was so good, a $9500 horse beats the millionaires and superstars!

anybody who invests in thoroughbreds is a moron - it's worse than a boat. 99% lose money and usually a small fortune, sometimes large fortunes.

he didn't just win, he smoked them

I never would have picked him. That was an amazing close.

I told this friend of mine they must have Calvin on him to stay on the rail because he's been lugging out in his other races. They've been winning on the rail all day.

I'm sorry that I didn't read the rest of the thread. But I had an exacta box with a bunch of horses. Surprise!! This jackass hit it. 2K and change. It covers the $600 I actually spent on the race.

On a side note, I'm listening to a very good Canadian band that nobody should ever know called Brighton Rock. The song you should never know is called Rock 'n' Roll Kid. The album is called Young, Wild And Free. The album as "gay" as it my sound to some is "killer" to me.

Where are some people that we can make a music thread to?
