Obama Owes a HUGE thank you to Michael Jackson

While you fucking morons in the US are busy weeping and moon walking, the Cap and Trade bill made it through the House.

Congrats. The very purpose of the bill is not to simply modify energy policy and further reduce carbon emissions in an intelligent way, but rather to make most energy so expensive that you can't afford it in hopes of alternatives being developed to meet demand.

So as your paying more and more for your gas, your food and everything you need in life, in the MIDDLE OF A RECESSION, while you're unemployed or struggling... remember "this is change you can believe in".

Black Jesus is creating a massive new tax on the lower and lower middle class... the primary benefactors of which are a lot of the companies that already received billions of dollars that we didn't have in the first place as a reward for their incompetence and for driving the company into the ground.

i'm all for reducing carbon emissions but this shit is retarded.

What would you do without him? You'd be like those football fans that get depressed during the off season because football is all they have, all they talk about.

If it passes the Senate it will be the largest tax increase in American history with most of the tax burden falling to the middle class, that is already losing their jobs, their homes, their retirement.

It did not pass congress by much. A lot of dems voted against it.

You're fucking stupid and I can prove it.

So as your paying more and more for your gas, your food and everything you need in life, in the MIDDLE OF A RECESSION, while you're unemployed or struggling... remember "this is change you can believe in".

If that is truely the outcome why would they pass it and Obama sign it since it would surely mean he wouldn't get re-elected and I'm 100% posisitive Obama wants to get re-eleceted.

THINK.

People ALWAYS blame the current guy in charge for hard times. So therfore if the economy isn't better in 3 1/2 years Obama won't be re-elected. Obama isn't retarded I seriously doubt he would do something to stagnate the economy and hurt his chanes at re-election. Now if it was his 2nd term and he could do what he wanted and the consequences didn't matter that be a different issue. But it's 2009 not 2015.

you've invented a whole new type of stupidity by using suggesting that a president wouldn't do something that risks failing or backfiring because it would cost him the re-election. ... maybe he doesn't see it that way. duh!

he's said himself, you fucking idiot that energy costs are going to sky rocket. you think that will be popular? dumbass

How Big Is the Tax?

The Heritage Foundation's Center for Data Analysis (CDA) found that, after adjusting for inflation, the government would collect $5.7 trillion in tax revenue between 2012 and 2035. CDA's economic analysis found that, by 2035, the Waxman-Markey cap-and-trade legislation would also:

* Raise electricity rates 90 percent after adjusting for inflation;
* Raise inflation-adjusted gasoline prices by 58 percent;
* Raise residential natural gas prices by 55 percent; and
* Raise an average family's annual energy bill by $1,241.[2]

But the $1,241 annual energy bill is just the direct increase in energy prices that consumers face. As energy prices increase, the cost of making products becomes more expensive. Businesses will pass the higher costs of operating onto the consumer, which will be reflected in the higher prices Americans pay for products.

Higher energy prices also result in a slower economy, which means less production, higher unemployment, and reduced income. As the higher production costs ripple through the economy, household pocketbooks get hit again and again. When all the direct and indirect energy tax impacts have been added up, family-of-four costs rise by $2,979 per year on average over the 2012-2035 timeframe. In 2035 alone, the cost is $4,609

I've been watching this bill from afar. For sure it is going to cost Americans more money when it comes to paying their electric bill, their products and foods. It's one of those back door, fuck your ass with no lube taxes.

Obama, while I hoped would bring change, sadly did not have any experience running ANYTHING prior to running the United States of American further into the ground. I foolishly thought maybe his lack of experience could pave a new way of doing things, but now reality has set in for not only me, but for him as well as he is seeing his big plans are not easily achieved. It's a shame really and it makes me sad. Unless he starts pulling rabbits out of his ass, by the time he is voted out of the white house, and I believe he won't make it to a 2nd term, the country is going to be BEGGING for Jeb Bush to step in and make things right. When that happens, the American people will deserve what they will get and God help them. It's the perfect storm... I mean PLAN.

I'm sooooo glad I'm watching this train wreck from abroad.

what liberals and poor people can't understand in their "hang the rich" bullshit is that companies DON'T pay taxes. its an expense, like any expense that gets passed on to the low income dipshit that's buying what they produce. when raise all production costs across the board, consumers pay for that.

the Idiocracy is almost upon us.

Michael Jackson dies and suddenly people aren't being shot in Iran, N Korea isn't threatening the world and retarded bills like the Cap and Trade Bill (300+ pages amended at the final hour with no possibility of debate/reading it - EXACTLY like the spending bill) quietly sneak through.

.. then you have fucking morons like Barney Frank letting us all know that we don't need a military because the Soviet Union collapsed, so we can just spend that money on turtle research or whatever the fuck.

Idiocracy indeed. Our shits all retarded.

I have access to countless news channels from abroad. REAL NEWS, not the entertainment shit that's pumped into the USA. They cover MJ once an hour and then keep on with the real news. US media is for entertainment only.

However, MJ's death crippled Twitter for a while and the people in Iran were using Twitter to help get out the news. Of course they couldn't for a while. Crazy to think, MJ dies, one man, and these people who are being murdered in the streets can't get the word out. He is an icon, no doubt, but damn.

you're beyound help... politics is not about what any one presidents wants. If you think Obama sits in his office late at night, thinking: "how can I really help people" - you're an idiot. Any direction taken by a president as important as this, is forced and planned by organizations of great influence.

As far as I can see, they want to shrink the middle class, raise the tax-levels etc.

It's kind of interesting. If you watch all of his "initial plans" that are typically pretty drastic, they get watered down BIG time. The current form of the bill, which barely passed the House, does not even include some of the key sticking points that Obama was pushing for. If you take a look at other legislation that is floating around right now, you will also notice that the current form of those Bills is not even remotely close to how they started out.

Now, you have to expect this. It's part of the negotiation process. But what I'm wondering more and more is, is Obama creating these "massive changes" in Bills knowing that they will get watered down to nothing, essentially meaning that he is getting what he wants... or is Congress simply slapping him in the face?

Either way... every other week I am seeing a new "reform package" with a major price tag during a major recession heading into a 10% unemployment rate and I'm just left scratching my head. Can we stop? Just for a minute. Let's just stop spending money for a little while... get ONE "good" program to pass that will actually do something good, and then let's tackle the next problem and make it work. Instead, we are seeing half-assed solution after half-assed solution that demands MORE taxpayer dollars while "promising" more jobs. How much water can you squeeze from a rock?

In other news... Congress wants to spend three quarters of $1 billion on jets for the air force that The Secretary of Defense and The Joint Chiefs of Staff (including the Air Force) don't even want.

Your only mistake is your assumption that the media would have done anything other than cheer this monstrosity if they had bothered to mention it. Even they way they frame it as "climate change" legislation instead of an energy tax (and the largest tax increase of all time) is fundamentally slanted and misleading.

Obama is the pied piper leading the lemmings off the cliff while the MSM cheers.

Speaking of unemployment rates... over the past six months or so we are down around 5.6 million jobs and up about 160,000 jobs. I'm glad those 160,000 people were able to get work... but how deep in debt did we go in the name of "creating" those 160,000 jobs?

Lesson: never believe "numbers" politicians give you unless you know how those numbers were gotten. Its easy to pull convenient numbers out of your ass... it's a little more difficult to make them work.

I would comment on this thread but I have learned that it doesn't matter if I present the current facts or not you will only ignore them and continue to spout your continual right wing bullshit.

I will say that Cap and Trade has already been in effect for Sulfur Dioxide since 1990 or so when Bush Sr. signed it into law. Google "Clean Air Act" to see the facts. Funny thing is that the right wingers didn't say any of this bullshit then. The real facts are that the CBO has estimated only a $175/year increase in costs and since states set the price for electrical energy... I don't think any energy companies are going to start gouging customers any time soon.

Did you call / write your congress person and tell them not to support the bill?

I did, - that's what our local news and radio suggested. I don't support c&t... outside that factor, I support the idea of the bill.

People forget that Companies already are and will continue to move to alt energy sources, that's going to create jobs and already has, it's going to create new technology, it's going to create demand locally then follow into global demand.

Like forcing us to stay ahead of the curve rather than being stuck because our eco isn't strong enough to allow the drive to happen as it already was. Like most cities that have already changed public transportation, thank god they did now with all the state/city budget issues going, they already feel the relief.

I'm glad power companies all over the Country have started investing in alternative power solutions, like mad. This has already produced an actual growing and massive job market already within our Country all with alt energy. I guess the growth is going to boom, the ET movement is going to be getting a massive bump. Kind of like the Internet and Clinton.

With the 'current' tax benefits I can pay for solar at the end of the year and get almost 100% of my money back, and pay 'less' monthly than I currently do in my electricity bill. Then they are starting it for cars... can't wait to see what they come up with overall.

I do know with the movement of smaller cars, that means they will let in lighter/smaller cars - legally, which we can't do right now due to safety. It will be great for lower income people, all of our insurance costs will go down, you would pay less tax overall and you would be helping the industry grow so it can compete on the global market.

--

Every president follows a trend to invest in. Clinton it was the Internet. Bush it was Wartime/Oil Supporting Industries. And Obama it's going to be Alt Energy Technology, we had best hope the 'world' is ready for alt energy solutions...

Baddog,
You and I were the very few who saw through Obama's BS when he was running for office. Now that he and the Demos are in charge, this country is screwed in ways we never knew existed before. People think times are tough now, wait until all of the Demos big reforms filter down to the average person.

In 6 months, the Demos have done more damage (with their tax and spend mindset), than has been done to this country in the last 20 years.

Hold on tight kids, the worst has yet to come.

We have ET Companies that have the technology to replace entire city power grids, store AC power forever, zero blackouts, companies can use it mixed with alt energy power production, and stop drawing off of our local power sources. The need for less power stations, less created power = lower costs, that's why the costs have slowly gone up - they call it demand, but it's not people that demand it, but we pay for the growth.

Micro Bio Energy Solutions (whatever the name is) too, plants that can grow up the walls of buildings, on top of buildings ect, besides cooling the building better, the energy they produce is captured, and being a life force, it regenerates itself always self producing energy.

They can do it in the dark too..

Wake up to the reality of change... it's going to be amazing.

that was not a very well written article about the matter and it failed to provide an unbiased perspective.

in addition to not proving it's conclusion that

Don't forget about the Wind Farms in the NE, some that power schools, they paid the schools to build on them and many schools no longer draw from the local energy source, paying less money, saving tax payer dollars.

This has no chance of passing in the senate, it passed in the house because they paid millions to these idiot congressmen. Do a search on senator Inhofe, as senators you
will have more pressure placed on you by your voters.

In the house it is a different place, this bill can be put on hold. You have senators from
coal states and indusrtrial states who's bussinesses will be destroyed by this power grab.
This is nothing more than taking money from the west and giving it to third world countries.

If you really think that we have all of these new forms of energy your fooling yourself. Sure people will say that big oil is not letting it come out, but the green forms of energy don't work.

Hell Spain has been crippled by this shit, 18% unemployment. Austrailia will not pass this, Italy has seen this as a power grab. France will not pass this crap!, but people here who voted for this guy, you will get what you deserve.

If you read the bill and see the shit they put in here, you will be surprised. Once I learn how to paste here I will paste or link it. Just one horrible thing in the bill is that all 50 states have to build their homes under California rules. WTF is that?, do you know how that will destroy the contruction industry.

These Democrats are true and true Marxist, I hate to say it but they are. They want to control you, hell they had to payoff a congressmen from Florida 50 million to give him a hurricane shelter. These guys are jokes and the people who voted for them continue to give up there freedom for nothing.

It happened to Rome and to every great civilizations the world has ever known. 300 years ago, the United States was a shit hole, today it is the world's greatest power. But now with Obama at the helm, it is going to become a second world country.

Obama is an ignorant radical, he is a puppet of the crazed liberals who are the self haters type a la Wright and Ayers.

The American people bought in the hype of this African American Hero that would save the US from a normal cyclical recession.

Now, what has Obama done? He made the US look feeble in the face of Iran, Venezuela and North Korea who are now threatening the United States in ways never seen before. Unemployment continue to rise, foreclosure continue to increase, bank and credit cards companies continue to fuck us without vaseline, the national debt continue to sky rocket and the average American citizen continues to be a fat fucking Big Mac eating machine more concerned with the Jonas brother's virginity countdown than with the faith of their country.

It is sad to say, but unless the Republicans grow some balls, takes back the Senate and Congress in 2010 and comes up with a viable candidate in 2012. The United States if FUCKED and done.

It's not about green, it's about Alt Energy or Energy Technology. Like entire cities that don't have to "produce" energy at night, because they used "stored energy" and save billions of dollars while doing so.

Out of all the stupid shit in this thread, this made me laugh the most

Watching one of those 150 news channels would make you sick to your stomach PP. Honeymoon period might be over in the US, but foreign news channels don't give a shit about domestic policies, they love the man, in their eyes he can do no wrong.

It is bad news... good news... I am moving to Thailand for a couple of years that made me laugh though... if only you knew a little about Thai "politics"

Agreed 100%.

All the people who think Obama is doing good should look at the last 6 months. All he has done is spend us into a third world country with no noticeable results. We have other countries laughing at us.

Obama is another Jimmy Carter but worse.

You store the energy it produces... Are you really that stupid?

And it's the cheapest because industries aren't looking for a better solution.

You are really dumb, aren't you?
There is only one alternative energy that is viable, it is called Nuclear energy, but your kind of tree hugging idiot won't have it.
Do you remember the ethanol bullshit? Invented to give subsidies to farmers and keep them in business. If you have one sense of fairness or logic in you, stop and think of how much you've heard your tree hugging retard talk to you about ethanol????

Oh, and there is no self respecting engineed that will stand and say with a straight face that you can store electricity, it is not viable, unless you want to power a couple of battery operated toys

Hmm... I wonder how many jobs will be created by increased investment in domestic energy production. This bill is way more about national security and weening the US off of foreign oil than climate change. If that costs more than I am willing to pay the price. The US needs to lead the field in developing new renewable energy technology. Oil is NOT an unlimited commodity... as a country, we consume more than 25% of the worlds energy. That just isn't sustainable... I think that the bill that is produced in the Senate won't look like the House bill. There are alot of things in it that will be changed... but I think it will pass because it is something we have to do. I also think cap and trade is the right approach because it encourages companies to produce cleaner energy products and creates an investment economy to provide the funds to do so. The key thing that I think that the opposition is ignoring is that just as many companies GAIN from this legislation as lose and even alot of the very companies it is purported to damage support the legislation.

http://www.reuters.com/article/press...09+PRN20090519
Quote:
WASHINGTON, May 19 /PRNewswire/ -- The U.S. Climate Action Partnership (USCAP)
- a diverse coalition of leading businesses and environmental NGOs - today
issued the following statement regarding the American Clean Energy and
Security Act being considered in the House Energy and Commerce Committee:

The U.S. Climate Action Partnership (USCAP) commends Chairmen Waxman and
Markey, and other Members of the Committee, for their strong leadership in
preparing the way for enactment of climate protection legislation.

USCAP believes the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009 (ACESA)
broadly embraces the approach recommended in the USCAP Blueprint for
Legislative Action that we issued in January 2009.

While not every USCAP recommendation is contained in ACESA, USCAP urges the
full Committee to advance the bill so Congress can continue to build on the
progress made by the Committee thus far.

As USCAP has indicated, there are several key linked issues that must fit
together to ensure a climate protection program is environmentally effective,
economically sustainable and fair. In some instances, that does not occur in
this legislation. Additionally, the bill covers topics not addressed in the
Blueprint or in some cases is more detailed than the USCAP recommendations.
Individual USCAP members will continue to work with Congress to address these
matters in a satisfactory manner. However, USCAP urges the Committee to vote
to report the bill out this week so that legislation can move forward while
these improvements are being pursued.

Again, we want to thank Chairmen Waxman and Markey for their efforts. The
process they have engaged in has resulted in a bill that strives to balance
competing interests. It puts the nation on a path to achieve significant and
necessary greenhouse gas emission reductions, while protecting consumers and
advancing new technologies that will lead the transition to a lower carbon
economy.

More information about the Blueprint for Legislative Action and USCAP can be
found at www.us-cap.org

USCAP Members:
- Alcoa - Boston Scientific - BP America - Caterpillar - Chrysler -
ConocoPhillips - John Deere - Dow - Duke Energy - DuPont - Environmental
Defense Fund - Exelon - Ford - FPL Group - GE - GM - Johnson & Johnson -
Natural Resources Defense Council - The Nature Conservancy - NRG Energy -
PepsiCo - Pew Center on Global Climate Change - PG&E - PNM Resources - Rio
Tinto - Shell - Siemens - World Resources Institute

SOURCE U.S. Climate Action Partnership
http://www.us-cap.org/blueprint/overview.asp
Quote:
Cap-and-Trade System Design
We believe the strongest way to achieve our emission reduction goals is a federal cap-and-trade program coupled with cost containment measures and complementary policies for technology research, development and deployment, clean coal technology deployment, lower-carbon transportation technologies and systems, and improved energy efficiency in buildings, industry and appliances. In a cap-and-trade system, one allowance would be created for each ton of GHG emissions allowed under the declining economy-wide emission reduction targets (the ?cap?). Emitters would be required to turn in one allowance for each ton of GHG they emit. Those emitters who can reduce their emissions at the lowest cost would have to buy fewer allowances and may have extra allowances to sell to remaining emitters for whom purchasing allowances is their most cost-effective way of meeting their compliance obligation. This allows the economy-wide emission reduction target to be achieved at the lowest possible cost.
These are major US corporations that are backing this bill because they see the necessity and the economic potential in doing so.

It probably would have squeaked by anyways. The scum in Washington do not care about what Americans think and the masses have become numb to all the bull crap going on. Look at the junk that gets passed and then we go and reelect the same tools to continue fucking things up.

300 pages added the morning of the vote? There is no way in hell those fuckers read the whole bill.

Capt stupid #2.... a man that doesn't have a clue, doesn't invest in alt technology, doesn't research energy technology, has ZERO idea of what's really going on..... but yet tosses out clueless information.

The company doing this has the patent on it, and has been selling it all over the world, and sitting, waiting... for the right president to get elected. Glad we invested years ago.

We don't have to do it and we won't do it. Global warming is a Hoax, since 2001 the earth has cooled and is continues to cool. Finally scientist are waking up and realising this is junk science. This is a UN grab, this has nothing to do with the right or the left.

This is all about destroying the US, if your to stupid as to not see this. I will be glad to see your kids as poppers.
