can regular air conditioning even get a house down into the 70's when it's 118 outside? or do you need some super duper air conditioning system that is different from regular ones?

and what about pool temperature? a month of plus 100 degrees and wouldn't the pool water be like 90?

lol that's like asking someone from Indiana if their heater can keep them warm when it's negative 10 with wind chill. Yes a normal central air can keep your house in the 70s even when it's 118 but it will run a lot.

pool temperature? well that is another story cause i never swam in my pools when it was above 100 during the day. I would go for a dip after midnight when the air at least cooled down a bit but yeah the pool water feels like bath water still.

if all the people went home who weren't born in Arizona it would be tumbleweeds and a two lane highway - which is what it was in the 1950's before air conditioning became commonplace.

This is why I jumped when I got the chance to move out of Phoenix. I loved working for Steve and the people there, but the head was bullshit. Luckily Steve has a killer pool to keep him cool.

I would say maybe a couple of areas, but not a "hell alot". Paradise Valley for sure... maybe Carefree. But, back in 2000 Paradise Valley was the #1 community in terms of wealth, and Scottsdale #2. Things haven't changed that much.

Your right. I would says in terms of wealth, Paradise Valley, Carefree, Goldfield, Gold Canyon, and Fountain Hills, are ahead of Scottsdale. I dont really consider Scottsdale all that nice until you get north of Shea Blvd.

I don't know, it was reading 117 on the patio in the shade at out place. And I had the fun of replacing our pool pump in that horrific heat. Of course my wife and her girlfriend were doing a little topless sunbathing action, so it made it bearable, except for the sweat in my eyes.......

I keep the aerator going so our pool stays pretty cool, even during this heat

I run my aerator quite often as well. Only problem with the continual use is that ph levels get out of whack really quick particularly if your TA is not in check . A couple gallons of acid on hand is a must.

79F degrees, 40% humidity here right now. I complain my ass off in winter about the snow (149.6 inches this past season! Dayum), and about the bitter cold.. But you know what they say.. in the cold, you can almost always put on another layer.. but when it's hot, you can only get naked down to your skin!

Stay cool!

Dont forget the new San Tan areas as well now... I was just up in Chandler Heights and man there are many Multi Million dollar estates up there as well, and what i like about Gilbert and Chandler Heights is that it is more green unlike ugly desert looking Snottsdale.

Gilbert, San Tan and east Queen Creek has many million dollar homes and it looks GREEN! Green can be refreshing after seeing so much Desert Landscape... lol

Gilbert, San Tan and east Queen Creek has many million dollar homes and it looks GREEN! Green can be refreshing after seeing so much Desert Landscape... lol

Tempe has a lot of expensive areas as well. Over where I live there are double lots and it is right by a golf course. Most of us actually have grass and not desert landscaping. I really hate the desert landscaping. I do have to say that I like a lot of the areas in Gilbert.

A few months ago when my area hit that temp (which was an all time record) we had several large bushfires break out, and 173 people died. I hope everyone is safe in your area.
