Fedor is a f---ing joke

http://www.sherdog.com/news/news/fed...ikeforce-18883

"Fedor is a f---ing joke," UFC President Dana White responded Monday after learning that Emelianenko had signed with Strikeforce. ?He turns down a huge deal and the opportunity to face the best in the world to fight nobodies for no money!"

Dam I really wanted to see Lesnar vs. Fedor!!

That was a letdown. I guess his manager wanted a partnership deal with the UFC which is crazy.

Strikeforce is terrible, at least from the fights I've watched.

Either they just threw crazy money at him, he is not very smart or he is running from fighting real fighters. I hope he made that bad decision over money. I have been saying forever that he was over rated, so maybe he knows it and is running from being found out in the UFC.

Ridiculous that he's fighting in Strikeforce because M1 wants to muscle in on the business that the UFC basically built. I'm a fan of his, but big boo for this one.

I agree that someone of Fedor's stature should solidify his legacy by fighting the best in the world in th UFC even if they won't let his manager muscle in with the M-1 co-promotion. However that being said I do not agree with the people that said Strikeforce was no good at all. They have some pretty good cards and fighters and I enjoy watching their events on Showtime.

At some point you suck it up and sign a short term deal to shut up the doubters.

Actually I just read that Dana gave in on everything including allowing him to fight in Sambo tournaments but they were unable to give on the co-promotion. It's a ridiculous request really.

At the end of the day, biz is biz and fedors manager knows how great fedor is, and to be honest I knew this deal would not pan out. Guarantee strikeforce gave fedor anything and everything he wants money wise as promotion wise. Its a shame because dana white does not run the UFC, the fertitas do and they are the ones that said no and Dana is just there bitch. They are the money men not Dana.

Noone knows what the deal really was, and dana is known for lying. I don't believe that guy one thing he says. He's out to make money for him, not anyone else. Fedor's not dumb, if he declined, the deal was crooked.

At the end of the day Fedor needs the UFC way more than the UFC needs him. As good as he is the vast majority of the casual MMA fans that only watch UFC have no clue who he is, and if he never fights in the Octagon the UFC won't miss a beat. There are so damn many good fighters they have under contact right now that they could run a monthly PPV, Fight Night on Spike TV, and even a third monthly show if they get an HBO or network TV deal, and still have plenty of fighters to make compelling fights. Shit, good fighters get released from their UFC contracts every month, and with Affliction folding they just absorbed some more good talent, not to mention there will soon be an infusion of new heavyweight talent after this season's Ultimate Fighter show.

I don't know exactly how much Fedor is going to make with Strikeforce, but I do know Scoot Coker is no idiot, and he has always kept the Strikeforce payroll manageable and the company profitable, so I seriously doubt Fedor signed for anything close to what UFC was offering. It's a shame, because fighting the likes of Brett Rogers, Alistair Overeem, and Fabricio Werdum is not going to cement his legacy they way fighting in the UFC would...

That pretty much sums up what I was thinking too.

Anyway, how many years (months?) did he really have left in him? He's likely being smart, taking the money, and running.

Look:
1) Fedor has a 20% equity share in M-1 so he's just as much a part of their crazy requests as anyone.

2) He is also contracted to the M-1 company he owns part of for 3 more fights and he won't break that contract. M-1 has to be part of the promotion he fights in or it's not in his contract. He's alluded to the fact that he;ll gladly fight in the UFC after these 3 are done. Even with his 20% share in M-1, it's more lucrative to fight in the UFC later.

3) Strikeforce easily has as deep a roster in the MW / WW area as the UFC but they are weak everywhere else. It's a good organization run by good people though. If they keep running it as they have thus far, they may be the only one to really last along with the UFC and even become a merger-worthy product down the road.

All what went on here was about M-1 and their desire to arm in and become a real promotion with teeth. They couldn't bring anything to the table that the UFC needed and would only be taking away in that deal. With Strikeforce -- an org with no international arm -- the little bit of overseas work M-1 has done does make it worth co-promoting.

What I wonder now is if Strikeforce will attract some people in the HW division to make it a good one. Fedor certainly will bring out fighters wanting to prove their mettle, but all the relevant ones are under UFC contract and will be until they are no longer relevant. Strikeforce needs to develop talent. Guys like Lashley and others who we haven't even heard of yet can be developed into real talents that do become relevant over a few years time.

Have you paid any attention to who he holds wins over? That's the most -- been watching MMA for 5 minutes now -- response I have ever seen. His decision not to fight in the UFC right now is all about his ties with M-1 and nothing else.

Im guessing that he will run through the the Strikeforce competition in a year and a half then still be worth a lot to UFC. If he gets Brock 1st fight he has a very real chance of loosing and Fador will be worth a lot less and M-1 will have no promotion chances.

By fighting Strickforce he is guaranteed 3 or 4 more winning paychecks and sponsor checks an a chance for M-1 to take off. He will still be worth a lot if not more to UFC in 2 years, but on the flip side Brock will be that much better.

Remember what happened to Cro Cop when everybody thought he was going to run through the HW division? And all of the pride fighters for that fact. I was a die hard Pride fan, but their top guys have not done too well.

Every fighter has a shelf life and Brock just started started. He is gonna get even better, i wouldn't want to fight that guy, even in a video game.

My post is just a guess, i would be curious on what Anthony had to say.

My post is just a guess, i would be curious on what Anthony had to say.
Fully agree. Brock has the best chance of beating Fedor of anyone in recent memory. He's an incredible athlete, has wicked wrestling skills and based on what you've said about who he's been training with, he'll only get better.

That's not to say that he will beat Fedor, because let's face it that man is also a machine. It is a possibility though.

But being Fador would you risk one big payday from UFC, for 4 big easy paydays from Strikeforce and one monster payday when UFC gives Fador what he wants?

Im not saying Brock will win, but Fador has a serious chance of loosing. And even if he beats Brock in the next UFC what serious payday would he look forward to getting after that? And what if he gets crushed like Mir did? What big payday is out there for him then? Fador fighting in UFC makes sense for the fans but not necessarily good sense for Fador.

Fador wants to make money and going this route he will make the most. UFC will get him but Fador will already have 20mill+ in the bank from StickForce and sponsors and that will be before he even fights his 1st UFC fight.

Fador is looking like a fine wine, as time goes on he seems to be worth more and more.
