I believe MASSIVE PERSONAL STORAGE SPACE has hurt our business more than tubes and shady billing practices combined.

considering that i have always said that torrents can be legally used as an infinite sized hard drive of all the stuff you have bought in the past. A multi redundant backup of all your old stuff, this is the exact problem you have to deal with.

you have to change the behavior of your surfers, without them know that is what you are doing.

there's certainly something to be said for this, but many "collectors" don't collect for perusal, as the collecting is the hobby, not the fapping, so they're constantly downloading. In regards to this, they also don't collect by paying, they collect through IRC and Usenet, private torrent sites and secret forums.

On the opposite end is the generic porn surfer, who has a life, a girlfriend, and a PC that can be accessed by her or his peers. This person doesn't want a collection at all, he just wants to jerk off. This person doesn't bother with IRC or torrents, he just gets the urge, goes to red tube, does the deed and goes back to his business.

So who's the buyer???

I believe large storage devices play a role in the revenue we will bring in. I think it would have an effect on retention and force sites to continually be improving what they offer.

What I lose hair about is that someday the downloaders will get so worried about copyright infringement court cases signaling an end to free stuff from the illegal tubes, or that new technology will soon spoil their piracy downloading, that they will "store-up" as much free porn as they can on their computers, blank DVDs, etc to form their own personal "Library" to sustain themselves for many years.

Surfer mindsets seem to be that porn is free, so they will steal it by the TBs and have whacking materials to last them a lifetime. Then, some might pass copies to others, further hindering our Industry's timely "recovery" by any future closure of illegal tube sites.

Increasing download speeds are not helping the cause either. What used to take days to download 10 years ago only takes minutes now. Why would anyone stay a member of a site for 30+ days when they just downloaded every scene in 20 minutes? I think the typical paying member these days is the collector who only joins their favorite site(s) every 6-12 months to download the updates. That is, if they can't find a password on Google.

I don't think it much a threat. Even if your assumption is true, the cycle of buying porn won't die because there is always a new generation of "porner". People die every seconds and a baby is born every seconds. So although the old generation may have collected all the porn they ever need, the newer generation have just started and it will takes years before they have their own collection. The cycle of buying porn will continue.

That's probably the person that's MOST likely to buy when they see a new appealing niche or a new girl in her first shoot.

While I do believe tubes are hurting demand the forums and the newsgroups are as bad or worse. Pornbb, hornywhores dot net, porn-w, planetsuzy, alt.binaries...the list goes on. Most of the larger programs have their site updates posted on these sites the same week or even the same day.

Steve, I think if you have someone who has filled a TB drive with content at their house, there is no stopping that guy from wanting more. You dont get 1000gb of porn without being addicted. Pornbb, hornywhores dot net, porn-w, planetsuzy, alt.binaries...the list goes on. Most of the larger programs have their site updates posted on these sites the same week or even the same day. Steve, I think if you have someone who has filled a TB drive with content at their house, there is no stopping that guy from wanting more. You dont get 1000gb of porn without being addicted. The internet sits there like a fresh bag of dope for the addict...you really think he is going to stop? out with the old, in with the new is more like it __________________
