Would you ditch firefox for Google Chrome?

Although Google recently released a faster version of Chrome and improved tab features http://www.webmasterworld.com/redire...g/chrome/beta/ I wonder if it can ever match Firefox' headstart. I mean, firefox just has such a huge lead with plugins/add ons. What would it take for you to ditch FF for Google?

I have grown so dependent on my Firefox plugins, so that would definitely be the only way for me, too...

No possible chance of me leaving without plugins, and only if Chrome has the same ones as FireFox.
Even then I might not leave because I'm such a fanboy. seriously.

You said it all right there. If Chrome had all the add-ons that FF had. I would ditch it in a second (if it didnt slow Chrome down). I use chrome for browsing / boards and such. I only use Firefox for working. It has better download setup. It also has a ton of great add-ons for webmasters.

Chrome is so much fucking faster it is not even funny. Not sure if they had the same addons and such if it would slow down.

I switched already... only used the FireBug plugin in FF so unless I'm coding javascript there is no reason for me to use that browser. The FF bugs lately has been pissing me off too much.

Chrome is ridiculously fast as compared to FF. And new version of FF has crashed once a day or so since I upgraded. There IS a home button just enable it. I wish it could use some of the ff plugins as well, but can deal with opening ff if I need to do something requiring one of its plugins. Chrome is setup to eventually allow plugins. Checking to see if I have the newest version since I didn't know they did another upgrade woot!

Faster than FF? Which functions are faster? Page rendering? Script execution?

Loads faster from initial startup, loads and renders pages faster. Everything. Install it, and use it for a few days, then try opening FF and surfing you'll notice it right off.

Chrome is nice for webmail and FF crashes every hour or so for no reason the last week after being stable for at least 1 year in a row.

True, I don't see much underlying functionality difference. Just as it should, it does blast through JavaScript/AJAX pages. I don't see myself abandoning FF anytime soon though.

I also don't see myself ever embracing a Google OS either.

It's basically the same damn thing without the obnoxiousness of Qt - but uses Java with propietary calls to Windows instead. I'm not really a fan. It works/acts like everything else WebKit. Safari/Windows isn't far off.

Neat and very pleasant layout, the most conveniently organized common browsing features. I'm still using FF when I need more browser windows or some special plugins for work.

I really like what they've done to the address field (Omnibar) ... the search features and as you type suggestions in the latest beta are awesome!

You start typing in Eiffel... and it will suggest the wikipedia article or official page of the Eiffel Tower. You start typing youtube (after visiting it once) and it will let you press TAB to switch to youtube search instead of just going there and, it will use the native search of youtube to perform it.

This works with any site you've visited in the past that has a search feature.

I haven't tried the native webkit but I really do like some of the new features in Google Chrome, I use them all the time.

I'm on a Mac also, and I'm not experiencing any issues with FF.

I wouldn't switch to chrome unless they had similar plugins, I have three or four that I use every day.

Chrome is way faster but no way I would switch FF is much better.

Chrome is similar to how FF was years ago when I tried switching from IE.

I started with Chrome, but moved back to FF in the last 3 weeks.

Chrome didn't seem that stable, and couldn't work with every site.

Still use every browser to check sites updates though ...

I don't give a shit about bells and whistles. I care about time - conserving as much as possible, and Chrome being so much fucking faster, it's no contest.

I use them all and a few others but FF is my main browser, mostly because of xmarks since I use so many different PC's and OS's during the course of a normal work week, I try to do all my heavy work like emailing and banking and such in a browser and I need the bookmark syncing. Also the session manager is real important to me since I generally have several dozen tabs open at once and if something crashes or freezes I need to restore them or there's no way I will be able to remember which pages I was working on and be able to find them again without losing alot of time.
