I don't mind giving the ID as needed. However given that some web companies are somewhat of an unknown quantity when it comes to the credibility that large brick and mortar institutions like banks and brokerage houses have worked to command, I do sometimes find it causes me to pause for a moment when asked to fax or email copies of driver's licenses etc. to them. Also, the banks and brokerage houses are heavily regulated while some entities on the net are not subject to the same levels of oversight.

After all those adverts Epass ran about be who you want to be, I think it is just an attempted money grab for them to ask for this much documentation.

Did you all see that, in addition to ID and a copy of the card, they want a copy of your bank statement or credit card statement before they will let you withdraw your funds?

This is the second company I've seen pull this sort of thing in the past month and I think it is just a sign of a down economy that they are grasping at straws to avoid paying you your money.

I wish they needed it fax's, etc for further verification. Most affiliate fraud comes from affiliates requesting epassporte, as it is so anonymous.

With all of these epass scammers we deal with on a daily basis, i have absolutely NO problems at all providing this information to them. Because I know if i am having to, then so are the scammers and maybe.... JUST MAYBE, this will shut some of them down so that WE don't have to deal with so much of it.

I know the scammers are always going to find a way, but wow, it's gotten to be a huge problem.

Just MY 2cents!

I don't understand why anyone would find it unreasonable for them to require such identification. I suppose the ones complaining are those under the illusion that they might have the ability to avoid paying taxes... tisk, tisk

Thats the same message I am seeing. They should already have this info when I faxed it in years ago.

I am curious what law this is. Paypal hasn't asked me for this info yet.

I don't avoid paying taxes, but they don't need that shit. I've been doing business with them for over 4 years. NOW they want to check my credentials? I'll just start having my checks delivered by mail again even though that means waiting extra.

I for one think it's great.

the influx of fraud is a huge problem, it affects the organics all the way down. sad part is, where most of the fraud is coming from, I'm sure falsified documents is just as easy to get as the cards they buy.

All a scammer has to do is fill in a totally random number.... or do you think Epassporte is able to lookup the passporte/id card/etc numbers for all those countries in that list?

But by doing so that means they are doing something wrong. Anyone doing legit business has nothing to fear. I would assume filling in false numbers would break their TOS along the way somewhere.

It takes longer to reply in this thread than to handle business.

Epass is a big part of my business and allows me to get payments from customers from all corners of the globe. If they needed me to get on the phone with them once a month to voice verify me, id call them at scheduled time, no problem.

This is business people, treat it like one and stop hiding.

I got it too, and I was under the assumption that only business accounts had to fax documentation.

Wondering why they need it, but I filled in my DL# anyways.

That is one of the stupidest posts I have seen on this forum and I look forward to the "epassporte suspended my account" thread that deserves to be your next post.

I have a business account and a verified personal account and I believe that epassporte have the right to every document that they have asked me for, and I have given it because I run a legitimate business and have nothing to hide.

Epassporte provide a valuable service and I welcome any step they take to make it harder for scammers and fraudsters to get paid.

If you have already send in documents just use the number from the ID you sent in.
Most everyone here have sent in documents already so this shouldn't be a problem.

We follow anti money laundering and anti terrorism legislation the request for this information is based on EU Anti-Money Laundering 3rd Directive which is the highest standard at the moment.
We are not a company that have popped up over night and then disappear just as fast there is a reason we are still here when others have come and gone.

AFAIK - i've never sent in any documentation. If I have, then I wouldn't have a clue as to what it was to input that number

Plus the fact ID such as drivers licences have different numbers on renewal/moving etc etc...

EDIT :

I don't have a huge problem with this, what does annoy me to hell is that epass never ever seems to have any forewarning about these kinds of changes. This morning I needed to check my account and didn't have my id on me and it's asking for this info - so in goes a bunch of random bs so I can get in. Guess it will mean my account is locked out soon enough.

unless those have been updated, Epass would only need "the supporting records (consisting of the original documents or copies) in respect of a business relationship or occasional transaction which is the subject of customer due diligence measures or ongoing monitoring. "

In other words - if a customer loads the epass account from a Creditcard, then that counts as verification, if the card is issued through the country the customer claims he is from.

I would still claim that EU Directive 95/46/EC makes it illegal for you to ask for, and store the information you have requested

ID is one thing, although I think it is kinda shady to require ID after advertising that people could use their online persona for Epass. Doesn't inconvenience me any and I kind of think you all already have all that on file for me anyway. So a couple of questions:

(1) Why the bank or credit card statement, though?

(2) Why make this change after pretty much inviting webmasters to use nick info instead of their names?

I'm not international, but I haven't received anything about this either.

But then again, I only use epass for a few sponsors... maybe it's only if you tend to send/receive lots and lots of money?

Im not joking btw i really did send them fake document ids and they accepted them without a problem

Just goes to show how much requiring you to send your id in actually means
Smart of you to mention that here.
