Do you use household or hand sanitizers?

Fuck the poll, just curious if you use antibacterial soap, hand sanitizers, sprays, whatever?
While your at it, how long do you wash your hands in very hot water?

My wife thinks they're magic, and ignores me when I tell her that although hand sanitizers may disinfect they won't necessarily CLEAN your hand (since you're just rubbing in a small amount of liquid)

Same goes if you have something poisonous on your hands... it won't magically de-poison it

We have some in the laundry. I only use it if I've touched something really filthy. Otherwise I just use regular soap.

My mom spent the last 15 years before she retired in charge of Infectious Disease Control at a major local hospital.

A seminar she would give included emphasis on handwashing techniques, etc. When the participants showed up and signed in, there was some sort of powder that she'd put on alot of the materials that would show up under a black light.

First thing she'd do is send them off to wash their hands as they normally would when on shift. They'd come back and she'd pull out the black light. It was amazing how much they missed.

Every sink in my house has antibacterial soap next to it. I keep hand sanitizer in my purse, in my car, etc. I wiped down shopping cart handles before I use them and I'm careful about how I open public bathroom doors after I've washed my hands.

Call me weird.. but I think it makes a difference. I know that all the adult gatherings I've gone to I hear about people getting sick afterward and I have yet to come down with a post-show bug.

no, never - I wash my heads after a shit but that's hit.

If I was traveling to an environment such as a another country I would take more precautions but basically i think it is complete overkill.

We have a natural mechanism to deal with germs called an immune system.

I don't use any of these products. I barely ever get sick and the way that I live, to most, would make them freak out. I don't want to live my life trying to avoid every germ on the planet. As George Carlin once said "My immune system is tempered in raw shit!". I make damn sure that my immune system learns to fight whatever it comes in contact with which is why so many people who watch everything that they do get sick so often.

sure, with the shit that I do I probably come in contact with some bad shit, but I'm perfectly fine.. Not dead yet.

Yes..have antibacterial handwash on the bathroom sink for a good wash every time. I use antibacterial dish detergent so I get a good wash while doing the dishes too. I carry sanitizer in my purse just on the chance it is needed.

it's been proven that antibacterial soap does not work on bacteria any better than lye based soap.

also, the length of time to wash your hands properly is about the length of the happy birthday song, so sing the song to yourself whilst washing up and you will know when you are done.

it's also important to create a good lather, the bubbles are the catalyst to let the chemicals remove the dirt entirely.

I have anti-bacterial soap at every sink in the house and I carry a bottle of Purell with me wherever I got. I do get a lot of shit from it from my friends, but it makes me feel safer. Sure, even if it doesn't kill all of the bacteria, it's killing some.

You figure the first thing people do after they whipe their ass is to go to the sink and turn on the water, so after you get done washing your hands, you touch the disgusting germ filled water faucet handle to turn off the water and germ yourself up right away. AND then there's those that don't wash their hands that just grab the door handle on the way out, ugghh....

You should see me in public bathrooms, I'll usually give the paper towel holder a couple of cranks (I do that before hand because those that don't wash their hands good already contaminated the paper towel dispense switch, ha ha), then I'll turn on the water, soap up, wash my hands, then grab the paper towel and dry my hands, then use the towel to turn off the water and open the door on my way out, ha ha.

Each sink in our house has some anti-soap stuff... I don't touch it.

If I'm going to cook food, I give my hands a good wash. Otherwise, it's a quick dash under cold water and off I go.

I try not to touch public doors, handrails, shit like that.. but if I do I don't rush off to snag the anti death soap.

Germs are a good thing, they make you stronger.

I have Dial anti-bacterial hand soap, and some Lysol anti-bacterial pop-up wipes. My dishwashing liquid is that type too.

When I hit the grocery store, they have dispensers of wipes so I grab a few, then grab my cart/buggy handle with it, clean it.. and hang on to the wipes while I shop. Then I grab the electronic pen dealie with it and sign the thing. When I get home, I use a lysol wipe on my hands then put away the groceries.

I figure that a grocery store is one of those places where it pays to be paranoid like that.

at what point did people in the west become germaphobes to the level of a psychopathology?

also funny that anti-vaccine types that think their immune systems are robust enough to withstand a pandemic also wont touch a door handle for fear of germs ....

No kidding, some of the people take it to the super extreme... I gota figure out how to monetize these people.

For not touching doors/rails isn't about germs, it's about gross. I have seen boogers on doors and rails, snot, blood, kids sneeze and just general nasty ass hands on everything, super fat chick knocks her diet coke into the door... grown men piss in a urinal which has slash and cock in hand, and just walk out the door.

If I don't shake your hand it isn't because of germs, it's because I know you probably just jacked off and didn't wash your hands.

But for sure... Americans in general are seriously scared of germs.

i was over at some friend's house for a bbq the other sunday and asked where's the garbage can to the girl cooking in the kitchen. she had a spatula in her hand cooking, went over to the garbage can and used the spatula to open the grimy lid. then said with a smile, "there you go!"

If I had the email my girlfriend had sent around to her office today, you'd all get a good laugh.

Apparently someone (a female) is having issues keeping the poopy off of the walls and outside of the toilet bowl.

They threatened a full investigation involving campus police if it didn't stop.

I wonder if she washes her hands.

I heard on the news today that some prison had supplied their inmates with hand sanitizer to try to prevent viruses etc, and they had to suspend the program because the inmates drank the sanitizer and started a drunken brawl

same as the majority do now, ignore what the sign says.

Hell stay in a hospital even 1 day, enough for say 1 shift change. Make sure you call someone to your room about every 2-4 hours. Pay attention to how many will not wash their hands or put on gloves.

Yes I do order them to do so. Often enough I have to tell the same person more than once during a shift as well.
