What is the average dollar amount spent per member?
What is the average dollar amount spent per member of your site or any site?
I was thinking about something a little earlier while watching QVC. Let's say that the average user spends $19.99/mo for 2 months, before they cancel. I could be wrong, but let's go with that for now. So, $19.99 * 2 = $39.98, and they get 2 months access. How do you think it would do to sell Yearly memberships for a grand total of $71.88, but broken down into 12 "easy" payments of $5.99? In your terms, you state that this membership cost is $71.88 billed monthly for 12 months. If they cancel before the end of the 12 months, they will be automatically charged the remaining balance of their membership, and will have access for the rest of that year. If this is possible, why isn't anyone doing it? If it's not possible, why not? Discuss.

I think if the surfers see a big dollar figure like $71.88 (Even though it's cancelable), it might discourage them to buy.

What do you do when they stop making payments? Do you spend your time chasing them for a 4x5.99 remaining payments or do you just let it slip? I like the idea but it's just very hard to maintain.
Heck, even I have a virtual credit card that I recharge manually from my real credit card and use the virtual for all questionable purchases I make online. Every second month I then destroy the virtual card and create a new one. |
