You DO realize that Reagan created almost 16 million jobs right? He increased military spending sure, during the cold war. You also do recognize that while Clinton created a budget surplus, he removed loan caps from banks to inadvertedly start the financial crisis?

btw, there are too many elections in the US, nothing ever gets done as there is another election around the corner and politicians are much to concerned with their popularity etc.

Best thing you could do is start a National health service for the people like just about every other civilized country enjoyes. Nothing fancy. Those who want to stick to the better private system can, but at least you get what should be a basic human right for everyone.
