Hypothetically speaking.......

Let's say that you are about to launch a paysite with 100% exclusive content. Would you bother adding plug-ins such as Pornholio and so forth as an added bonus to the members?

Do members see this stuff as a bonus or do they see it as the same thing that the last paysite had?

If the site is based on 100% exclusive content...does this addition take away some of the sites appeal?

I am looking for the surfers point of view as well as the opinions of those who have used add ons like this in the past.

I've spoke with someone "in the know" of this very topic. He said paysites must have feeds. Even though every fucking site has very similar, if not the same feeds, the surfers have come to *expect* these feeds as part of a paysite package. If your site doesn't have these feeds, you risk losing the member to another site that does have feeds.

I don't know if this guy truly knew his shit or not, so take it for what you will.

We've had resellers claim that they've retained clients just by offering our feeds.
How's that for some wacky ass retention?

But for the most part, we've had great feedback from webmasters who say that adding our feeds greatly increases retention.

At the same time though, we get asked "who else has your feeds" a lot. The adult biz is large enough that they don't demand exclusive rights, but they just don't want every single site to have it.

Look at it this way... the more you offer the better.
Does someone want to sign up to a site that offers the same as another site... or a site that offers what that other site has, plus more stuff he ain't seen before?

I'd damn well sign up to a site that had a MaskTV plugin, with other plugins... rather than just go sign up for MaskTV and get only that.

i think it depends on how you market the site. all of my traffic is generated/pre-qualified on the premise of my content. that is the entire reason they join the site, and it is the entire basis of my business model.

i have very good rention, and very low cb %'s - and i do not use anything except my own content. i've used feeds in the past. i don't anymore, because our members don't give a shit about feeds. they are there for OUR movies. they joined the site for OUR movies. they stay with the site for OUR movies. not some feed that they can get at any half-assed paysite.

though i'm certain many people do well with feed-based sites (obviously).

My thinking is this, if you have enough exclusive content to keep the surfer happy I think it would take away from the site to have what for the most part are shitty plug-ins used on far to many sites.

I would go for 1 or 2 premium quality feeds that offer something a bit different than your exclusive stuff.

In my opinion 1 or 2 top quality ones beats 10 holio style ones.

Some cool ones I have bought or checked out

Most sites whose content is mostly exclusive still do buy some additional leased plugins. I can think of some very successful exclusive content sites that don't though.

I think i'd be very selective in what i'd buy, i don't think you can fool customers by just giving more of something that isn't of very good quality. So if had $2,000 dollars to spend a month on plugins, rather than buy 10 cheapo ones, i'd pick 4 really good ones.

there's a movie plugin company, NOT Pornholio, I looked at their niche feeds awhile ago - my god, shitty doesn't even begin to describe it, we're talking videos from the 80's, poorly digitized, just total crap.

Fair enough. What is your definition of "enough exclusive content?"

When a site starts, it is likely to have a basic amount but the members area will grow assuming that there are regular updates. I expect that if a member likes the concept and or content of the site that they will stick around to see the next update.

I have been researching and debating things like this for the past year and I have a pretty firm belief but I am open to trying other things. quiet runs the type of site I am referring to. Does anybody else?

I think you can be the judge of what is "enough exclusive content". It is a subjective call, but just ask yourself if you were the surfer would you be satisfied. And of course for retention regular updates of the same quality exclusive content is necessary.

There's no reason to make a life long decision here anyway.

I mean, if you're questioning the quantity of content to begin with, then get some extra content for the time being... until you feel you have enough of your own and then drop the feeds.

It's not a car loan.. you aren't locked in for 5 years or something.

I say give it a shot. 3 months on... 3 months off. See which works the best.

Actually, my own membership site does NOT have exclusive content. It's the same stuff I sell on my content sales site. However, I now and then get surfers just really my style and my girls and they say, "I've seen your stuff here and there and now I know where to get nothing but!" This kind of guy does not need feeds he can find on almost any other site. The point is that some sites are driven by something special, special photography, a special angle or concept, and anything other than that is probably a distraction.

If a member really likes "your style" of your content, he is going to stick with you. If he knows he cannot get your content any where else for sure he will retain with you. We build our sites based on a simple amateur formula. Our members are not looking only to be entertained. They are also looking to get involved. We let them in on our productions and most of the time we become very good friends with our members. They understand they have to chip in if they want to continue to fuck whores . So for less than . 87 cents a day it is not too much to ask !

I have a very small customer base of my exclusive content. I do that so I do not dilute my content. I get a lot of webmasters asking me to shoot for them and they always ask if I can shoot it the same way as I shot one of my sites..... I am willing to shoot for other webmasters but I am not cheap. Since there are a few out there willing to pay my prices they know that they are getting quality and something they know will retain there members.

So it is the same as a surfer.. If they know they can only get your content from your site. They are going to keep coming back and for what ever the price.
We are looking for more feeds to add but not very popular ones. We do not want to fill our sites with plug in that have been seen many times over.

I would rather shoot more scenes than buy a plug in. But that is also because the more money I spend on other people's content ........ the less I am going to get laid. I guess I am selfish!

Collegefuckfest has a lot of 3rd party content/feeds. It doesn't hurt, it pays for itself easily, and rounds the site out with a lot of extras. The surfers don't see it as "the same shit everyone else has". Presentation of the content is a big factor whether you think so or not. Quiet, if you're able to successfully do this, then hats off to ya. Fact is, most webmasters aren't able to properly "niche funnel" their traffic very well. But if you can, it's highly profitable.

We removed about 70% of the leased feeds from our multi-girl amateur paysite a few months ago and saw no noticable drop in sales (not offering them in the tour pages) or retention -- retention is actually higher then ever (but mostly due to no longer offering trials)...

We actually asked members about it -- in our members message boards -- and other than a couple of whiners (who are still members btw =p ) they said they didnt care and only looked at them occasionally cause they were there

something like the influx video content i seen a couple years ago, but better quality and downloadable.

i think thet would help retention 10x more than streams

I agree, I've never understood all the fuss about exclusive content. I've been an adult webmaster for over 4 years and besides some of the over exposed pics from TGPs pretty much all movie content seems exclusive to me.

Or maybe I just don't have a very good memory of the movies I've seen. But mostly I think that there are shit loads of movies made every year, more than most people could possibly have time for. So why worry about exclusive shit? Just have a lot of movies.

i'm more a quality over quantity guy myself.

the quality of the models...and the allure a virgin girl posses will increase conversions... if you have already seen her naked ... you might not be as interested.

frequent and regular updates are also important... most feeds will only update once a month... and it's better to have good quality content over ... a shit load of it... nothing would make me move over and cancel faster than paying 30 bucks and then seeing a bunch of shitty 1970 porn feeds

Than you should take GREAT pride in your marketing abilities, because we are all marketing the same product. Those that market the product better, succeed.

As for those of you wanting high quality feeds. Are you willing to pay for them?

Bubblegirls IS a fantastic feed. One of my favorites. Probably THE BEST feed on the market TODAY.

I suggest you hit up Ron from Xamo and ask him about the feeds they are about to release. (He told me they were looking at a late January release).

He was so kind as to give me a preview as to what Xamo was about to release.

They are FAR AND AWAY the best I have seen.

If he knows he cannot get your content any where else for sure he will retain with you. We build our sites based on a simple amateur formula. Our members are not looking only to be entertained. They are also looking to get involved. We let them in on our productions and most of the time we become very good friends with our members. They understand they have to chip in if they want to continue to fuck whores . So for less than . 87 cents a day it is not too much to ask ! I have a very small customer base of my exclusive content. I do that so I do not dilute my content. I get a lot of webmasters asking me to shoot for them and they always ask if I can shoot it the same way as I shot one of my sites..... I am willing to shoot for other webmasters but I am not cheap. Since there are a few out there willing to pay my prices they know that they are getting quality and something they know will retain there members. So it is the same as a surfer.. If they know they can only get your content from your site. They are going to keep coming back and for what ever the price. We are looking for more feeds to add but not very popular ones. We do not want to fill our sites with plug in that have been seen many times over. I would rather shoot more scenes than buy a plug in. But that is also because the more money I spend on other people's content ........ the less I am going to get laid. We actually asked members about it -- in our members message boards -- and other than a couple of whiners (who are still members btw =p ) they said they didnt care and only looked at them occasionally cause they were there
