Otters are the best. He might rip your lungs out though, so be careful about getting too close.

Your biggest clue that he won't be there long is that he ( she ) is alone.

Good point! he/she will probably be looking for a mate with spring starting. Definately won't stay there long unless a female/male turns up aswell.

Yeah there is definately loads of fish in there. They are natural aswell, river chub (I think not 100% sure) but it was packed with them last year. so he should have plenty of food

If it runs out i'm sure he will go upstream and find more to eat.

Excellant pictures! That otter is very cute!

We live near the New forest & the beach, I have pictures of ponies & dolphins. Its a shame as I ask Natalie for some pictures of her & some horses in the forest... She refuses... lol!

After keeping eagles, great blue heron, and raccoons at bay and away from the koi in my pond for several years.. it was a river otter that went to town over the course of two nights and created total annihilation. He'd get in under the netting, catch a koi..even very large ones, haul them out onto the side.. take a bite or two and head back for another.

Removed the ones that were left and gave them away. Now I stock my pond with $1.00 young trout and let the critters have what they want. The trout are many times smarter and faster than the koi ever were.
