Why is Montreal called the Habs?
Always loved hockey and playoff hockey is the best! But for the life of me I have no clue why they have the nickname Habs! GFY hockey fans help me out

Habs is an abbreviation of "les habitants," a name given to the original french descendants in the late 1700s. Since conception the "Habs" have been marketed as a 'french canadian' hockey team, and the nickname stuck.
