Unfucking real. I have this 22 foot long car carrier in the back of my property and somewhere between 45 and 60 days ago the door was open as we were getting some junk out of it. Somehow one of my female cats got in and the door was closed. A few weeks pass by my daughter tells me Moonbeam is missing. We have like 3 outside cats so it's not unusual for 1 to go missing for a few days. I dont remember the exact date but i know this was at least a month and a half ago. Anyway we opened it today and there she was. She is skin and bones weighs prolly 1 lb but is alive. No water or food for at least 45 days i shit you not. She has been drinking water and eating some and is even purring again. But I'm afraid she will die that long without food and water her organs have prolly permamently shut down. I'm still amazed by this that long without water how is it possible.

I lost my cat for a month...it was stuck in my neighbors shed without food and water. When he came home he was skin and bones but we nursed him back to his normal self....feed her and don't let her out till she's nice and fat!

Get her to a vet, her liver has probably shut down, and it will kill her within a few days very likely if not put on iv and helped to get things going again. My friends cat died last year after it stopped eating for some reason. Started eating again but its liver had shut down and he lasted like 3 or 4 days after that. Was very sad.

dont let her over eat either right now, it has to be slow and gradual being nursed back onto food.

she definitely needs an IV for fluids though, she wont drink enough on her own probably.

you really should take it to the vet but be prepared to spend some money...when our dog got sick they told us it could cost up to 5k to help him and even then there was a very slim chance he was going to make....though it was a tough thing to do we put him down ....even that cost us $500 after everything was done ...anyway good luck!

yeah cats can survive in just about any situation.. they will drink rain water, eat bugs find warmth but part of the reason they often get in these kinds of situations is because when they get stuck somewhere like that they go hide to die, rather than make some noise and get someones attention..

my cat disappeared for 2 weeks, got locked in my next door neighbours basement some how and didn't meow a peep the whole time, was just chance that they even took a look down there and looked underneath the stairs where it was there laying down. Full recovery though.

I love my pets but I'm not gonna spend $1000 on a vet for this cat. She's drinking and eating, she seems to naturally know not to drink or eat too much. Slept in my bed last night and woke me several times purring wanting to be petted. If she starts acting wierd, not drinking or eating I'll consider taking her to the vet.

If you are not willing to "spend $1000" on a vet then...no you do not love your cat. I have literally spent thousands of dollars on my dogs...but unfortunately the vet could not cure the cancer one of my dogs had so I put her down.

Youll spend 1k just hydrating her. Had a cat dying of kidney failure, vet wanted over $100 a day for 2 weeks of hydration.... just for water IV. Cat died weeks later and lots of money later.

I am dealing with a stray cat (no longer stray, now mine) that someone abandoned around the first of this year. The poor guy was living in a drainpipe outside my house and for weeks, I'd only catch a glimpse of him, so I didn't know if he belonged to someone or not,. But I started putting food out and then I'd see him sneak up at night to eat it. The poor guy was so skinny, it hurt to look at him. He finally got so desparate that he came up to me and I took him in and quickly to the vet. He had flea anemia so bad he was almost dead - the vet said another week and he would have died. Anyhow, because of his malnutrition, he has kidney damage and I am trying to reverse it but it is tough. He has gained almost two pounds and he is a good kitty but I don't know if he will live or not. Plus he has a really screwed-up heartbeat (very fast with a murmor), so I don't expect him to live that long. But as long as he does live, he'll have the best. He is asleep beside me right now as I type this. He looks happy... I named him Whitey because he has a beautiful white coat with cream mixed in.

BTW, have any of you ever heard of Comfortis? It is a flea pill that is only approved for dogs right now but the vet gave it to Whitey because of all the fleas he had. He took it and 6 hours later, there wasn't a live flea on him. I combed the dead ones off in huge numbers. It is amazing - if I had a dog, I'd give him this pill. As it is, I hope they approve it for cats soon. Miracle flea pill!

In many states...if not all...it is against the law not to seek treatment for your sick animals. You probably won't get nailed but you should be.

PR_Glen Confirmed User Industry Role: Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Canada Posts: 9,058	yeah cats can survive in just about any situation.. they will drink rain water, eat bugs find warmth but part of the reason they often get in these kinds of situations is because when they get stuck somewhere like that they go hide to die, rather than make some noise and get someones attention.. my cat disappeared for 2 weeks, got locked in my next door neighbours basement some how and didn't meow a peep the whole time, was just chance that they even took a look down there and looked underneath the stairs where it was there laying down. The poor guy was living in a drainpipe outside my house and for weeks, I'd only catch a glimpse of him, so I didn't know if he belonged to someone or not,. But I started putting food out and then I'd see him sneak up at night to eat it. The poor guy was so skinny, it hurt to look at him. He finally got so desparate that he came up to me and I took him in and quickly to the vet. He had flea anemia so bad he was almost dead - the vet said another week and he would have died. Anyhow, because of his malnutrition, he has kidney damage and I am trying to reverse it but it is tough. He has gained almost two pounds and he is a good kitty but I don't know if he will live or not. Plus he has a really screwed-up heartbeat (very fast with a murmor), so I don't expect him to live that long. But as long as he does live, he'll have the best. He is asleep beside me right now as I type this. He looks happy... I named him Whitey because he has a beautiful white coat with cream mixed in. BTW, have any of you ever heard of Comfortis? It is a flea pill that is only approved for dogs right now but the vet gave it to Whitey because of all the fleas he had. He took it and 6 hours later, there wasn't a live flea on him. I combed the dead ones off in huge numbers. It is amazing - if I had a dog, I'd give him this pill. As it is, I hope they approve it for cats soon. Miracle flea pill!
