:2cents are you miserable or happy?

if you judge by peoples post 99% of people are miserable in life but how do you see yourself?

people like to think by peoples posts they can judge if a person is happy or not, but I tend to think the time we spend AWAY from gfy and spending time with family and friends is actually what dictates whether we are happy or not.

even trying to post positive happy thigns on gfy will get you railroaded by miserable people, that in itself shows the consortium of misery that exists around us at all times.

wth am i talking about? I dont know... but ive been spending 3+ hours a day riding my bike and spending more time with my family and friends than in my entire life and it seems these are what make a man happy, not the porn whores, not the drugs, and not the drink.

lacing up my shoes to go for daily bike ride through woods/trails.

Have fun on your bike.

A lot of people say things on the internet they would never say to someone's face so I wouldn't take anything to heart.

i have no advice, man must face his misery alone, I know I had to.

about to hit the trails guys, 12+ miles of hard off road trail riding with blackberry vines ripping my arms open as I speed around turns and cypress tree knees.

there is happiness in sweat and blood.

if only we could spend our lives doing such things and not have to always worry about making a living and what next bullshit is coming down the line.

So long as my kids are happy, I'm happy.

Life changed for me the moment the first one showed up...and I love it.

I have found that too many people equate happiness with joy. I think that joy is a short-lived emotion that people are always shooting for. Joy is like a drug though, it is short lived, and when you come down, you miss it. but Joy is not real happiness to me, and I think that people miss out on happiness by their constant striving for that illusive "joy".

Personally I think that long-term happiness is more along the lines of contentment.... It's a more quiet, small, long-term feeling that comes from appreciating everything good in your life, even the small things, and putting it in perspective against how bad things could be. I find myself content, every day, with how my life is going, how much I love being with my wife, how much I like where I live, etc, etc, etc... Sure, there's stress all the time, but taking the time to appreciate the good stuff creates contentment, which overwhelms the stress, and brings me peace.

Sorry, didn't mean to wax lyrically about this.

I'm not unhappy, but I'm not where I wanna be in life either. But that's the whole trick right? Work hard to get your life to be what you want it to be.

well, guess it rained last night, the trails were wet and slippery/muddy.

Front wheel hit a cypress knee and got jammed by exposed tree root and well,... I went over the handlebars into mud and briars LOL

Still finished the trail ride though LOL at least the mud is soft upon landing.

feel great despite the mishap.

I love being around my family and doing things with them... however I love my business, job and what I do for a living. While I'm working I miss my family, while I'm with my family I miss my work.

Last few years I've been as low as I've ever been and as happy as I ever will be. At the moment I'm on my own so a bit glum, Eva has gone shopping and when she gets back I will be happy again. She lights up my days.

In general over the last 13 years I've always been a happy person.

Unfortunately, not a simple black and white issue.

Happy on some things, not so much or a work in progress on others. Both professionally and personally. So it really depends on the issue at hand.

A few years back when I "had it all" I was pretty damn miserable, most of the time.
These days I have much less, require much less, and I'm much happier. Being free of booze and prescription psychotherapy drugs was the first step on that road. Fortunately for me, that step was an easy one.

I've said it before and it still stands: There are more important things than money.

same road my friend, same road. I havent even been smoking pot, been 100% clean. itll be 5 years without a drop of alcohol this coming month.

I moved out of LA took a year off from working in adult and just kicked back in the southern sun, now with the baby my entire life has changed for the better. I look forward to the day whereas I used to try to get drunk before noon just to not deal with it.

emotional states are often not a black and white issue, but the idea that you are either miserable in your life or content and happy with it is somewhat a simple question in my opinion.

There are people who sit at their desk every day all day and are completely miserable, despite having 50k in the bank.

There are those of us with nowhere near that type of money saved who are much much much more happy with our life than they.

Thats about all I was getting to... besides, I didnt put much thought into the question... i was putting on my socks thinking about the people who will be at desk all day today without going into the woods and getting away from it all and spending some time in the sun.

I do it every single day and sometimes before i check my email LOL

I'm generally happy. Getting out of LA 6 years ago helped that LOL...

I think by and large tho, most people are miserable to some degree.

IMO it depends, on whether you know for sure that where you want to get to will in fact make you happy.

I spent my mid 20's trying to get to a place financially that I thought would be my happy place, only to find it shallow, empty and miserable.

That in itself is more rewarding than any amount of money, however, having cash is a must so we all gotta do what we gotta do. But I truly believe since over the past 12 or so years I havent had to suck up to some boss in a cibucle has made my life much much more exnjoyable as a human.

Do I wish I had millions, of course, but I know people with millions and it doesnt make them happy.

Im about to take my family for a day out on Thursday (we spent the weekend out and Tuesday too) while all my friends are at work bitcing about "wish i was home" on Facebook, there is no greater revenge on society than freeing ourselves from the wage slave position in life and spending all those 40+ hour work weeks with family instead.

I never realized how great life did I live till 2005

2005 - 2006 was more or less ok, I was superbly excited and working on 150 pct., I spent endless hours in the office, sometimes leaving around 6 in the morning or going directly to college, usually having a program for 14 - 16 hours a day.

Yet it resulted in losing common social contact with people that are the most important to me, that I didn't realize at that time.

2007 - 2009 were the worst years in my life, while enjoying the highest levels of income up to date, traveling the world and enjoying tremendous amounts of sexual activity, the money was only good enough to fund my depression, disgust and post traumatic syndrome (losing a beloved one).

Eventually started to hate my life and went through something as an early mid life crisis.

2010 - so far:

- fixed my body and health
- fixed my spending
- more or less fixed my social ties (it takes time, I just wasn't a part of my people's life anymore)
- fixed my confidence
- actually enjoy and like people again

The drive slowly comes back too so I'm not afraid of anything.

What I also realized is that the energy is in people, if you can keep a good crowd around you, you're on the best way to feel happy (that's how I pretty much lived till 2005).

nice way to put it.

its funny how one little thought while putting on my socks this morning can stir such good thoughts among others.

"Oh it must be nice to see the bright side" "how come nothing gets you down" "how can you stand it, it's like chaos"

Because I TRY. I desire a positive outcome. I want to RECEIVE positivity, so I try to PROVIDE positivity.

Sometimes people say "you're too nice" to which I usually think...... GOOD.
