Took a little ride yesterday (pics)

I needed to get a good trip in on the new bike, a major break in run. I headed north and found myself at Sequoia National Park. This place is very cool with nice rivers, very tall / old trees and bears.

If you want to see all the pics, they are up at www.Gotbaddog.com

No idea. There was not even any indication that the drawings were there. Google told me they are Patwisha Indian rock drawings, but not much more.

I came across another bear later, but he was even closer (like 10' away) and I did not really feel comfortable putting the kickstand down then trying to get my camera out. He was eating.

Thanks. Actually, I used the standard 18-55 all day until I ran into the first bear. In that case I did feel comfortable stopping and getting the camera out. However, after the first couple of shots I went up the road a piece, and parked the bike. Then I changed lenses and went back to get some more shots of him. I went ahead and left it on for the duration of the journey.

If I took more pics of people then I could make it appear bustling. I have been to at least a half dozen national parks in the last two months. It was as busy as any. The campgrounds were full.

You know, I saw you post a few days ago and I thought that it was a blast from the past, but I could not remember why. If coming in July you might let me know because I already know I am not going to be around for the first part of it.

Hints?

Hint is this: The place to be is Las Vegas. And the wedding march just might be playing.

What sort of mileage do you do just going out for a wander? I've only ever been on a couple of sportbikes not a Harley and distance was tiring.

Think a run through photoshop for contrast, sharpen etc. would make 'em pop..... the CS5 release rocks.

Not sure I want that close to a bear, cept at the zoo.

Nice variety and I really like the effort you put into perspective and scale.

Things like shooting the drawings from the side or straight up the tree makes the
picture more interesting. Shooting the stream from the middle, whether it's from a bridge or you stepped out there gives the viewer a great perspective.

Your pictures keep getting better and thanks for sharing

Sunday I did about 300 miles and yesterday 200. Neither day was particularly far, although Sunday included many miles in the park, which means stop and go and 10 MPH turns. I spent 9 hours riding that day. Lugging around 1100 lbs (with me on it) will tire anyone out that is not used to it. Heck, I am used to it and I felt a little beat by the time I got home.

Sequoia is in the mountains. I took 180 pics that I put up on my blog. I posted 8 here. If you would like more variety, please visit http://www.gotbaddog.com/photos-from...national-park/

Not all American black bears are black! Colors also include chocolate, brown, cinnamon, and even blonde. When you see a brown-colored bear in Sequoia and Kings Canyon parks, you are seeing a black bear, not a grizzly. Although a grizzly is on the state flag, none remain in the wilds of California.
