found this online and thought back to our confab about exposure
"There are 4096 tones in a greyscale RAW image...If you divide the histogram in to 4 sections, the section on the far right (highlights) has 2048 tones, right from centre has 1024 tones, left of centre has 512 tones and far left - in the shadows has only 256. So, by over exposing slightly, you are increasing your tonal range and therefore the final post processed output of the image." |

LOL, i remember that.The key word is "slightly". If you blow your fucked.
Got to love RAW's for the ability to manipulate for maximum tonal exposer.  But i definitely don't recommend that technique for HD video. If you over expose that, thats it, no fix in the world for that. Hey BM, how are you digging that 400mm lens? Need to post pics from that lens.
