Valuable tip to prevent a very nasty Virus: "AntiVirusPC 2010" and it's everywhere!
If you are like me, and use Google and review/surf many adult sites during your quest for advertising or general surfing... eventually you will run into this nasty virus that seems to be lurking around in many Google referenced sites and many many adult galleries (those shitty crooked fucked up ones)
Here's how it goes: 1) While you are on a strange gallery page, all of a sudden a program pops up in your screen and an "anti virus" scan starts running. Might look something like this, but is will read 2010 instead of 2009 in this pic: ![]() First off, DO NOT CLICK ANYTHING!!! Just by seeing this, your computer is now infected. Yes, without even clicking on something, the program virus has infected your system. When you see this, along with some pop ups in your lower right hand tool bar, here are the steps you can take to 100% save your computer. 1) Turn your computer off at the power source. Again, do not click anything, turn your computer off by holding down the power button. Do a complete shut down. If you haven't saved any of your working data, that's a loss you'll have to take. Better than losing your entire system. 2) Turn your computer back on in the "safe mode." 3) System Restore your computer a couple days back. This will restore your original system configuration prior to this attack. (go to control panel, performance and maintanence, look for "system restore" and go back a day or so.) Sometimes when you reboot in safe mode, the computer might ask you if you want to do a system restore. 4) Reboot. 5) Go to: http://www.malwarebytes.org/ and download their FREE Malware scanner.... install it and run a full scan. It will find the remaining bug and you can delete it. Whew! Your system will be 100% back to normal. I have 2 systems.... my first system got infected with this nasty ass bug, and after days of research and trying every fix on every blog, there is NO WAY to remove it. I had to re install Windows and re install all my programs. Also, after I was infected, just running malware or norton after the fact, doesn't do shit. The virus goes in deep. You have to catch it at the early stage and kill that fucker before it kills your system. My 2nd system got the same virus, and I pulled the plug on my computer and ran the steps above and was 100% free and clear of that bug. It's a very nasty virus and if you don't fix it, within days none of your links will work and your entire system will become corrupted. Hope this information will save your computer as it did mine. (the 2nd time) L |

What's this got to do with using Google? If you are going to rely on their filtering of bad sites you don't deserve much sympathy.

I think that's the virus that took out my old Vaio. This was 2008 so not quite sure if its exactly the same but a "virus scan" innitiated it. Was letting a friend surf the web on it around Xmas and he thought it was legit. Was eventually able to get rid of it after several days of pulling my hair out but the machine was never the same. Fucking sucks. Thanks for the info.

I still swear by using Avast anti virus it does actually stop viruses before they hit unlike some of the others claim to.... Use that along with Spyware blaster by Java cool software and you wont have a problem

I remember repairing a computer that had this before it was "big" .... it was a pain in the DICK because everything that this malwarebytes does in minutes had to be done manually

FYI .. there are a couple of flaws in your procedure for removing the Antivirus 2010 malware. This is a pretty common virus and most AntiVirus Software will protect you from it as long as you don't do anything other than click the X in the uper right hand corner. No need to unplug your PC. If you got infected on contact it would be too late anyway. Electrons move way faster than you do. You should not use sytem restore to try and fix an infected computer ... odds are that the restore files are in fected too. And if any of your word or excel or other data files get infected doing a system restore won't do jack. You are correct in rebooting in safe mode though. The correct prcedure for removing this or any other virus from you computer is as follows: 1. Reboot in SAFE mode without networking (as you said). 2. TURN OFF SYSTEM RESTORE .. thus deleting all restore points (you do this to keep your sytem from being reinfected by the restore files). 3. Scan for viruses using what ever antivirus tool you use ... There are quite a few good ones out there and a couple of the best ones are free. You mentioned Malware Bytes and I would like to ad AntiVir (96% detection and removal rate for FREE only bested by Kaspersky which is not free). 4. If that fails to do the trick go to any one of the big boy antivirus maker's website and odds are they have a removal tool. Sometimes they may not have tool they may just have instructions. Just keep checking on other Antivirus manufators website's until you find one. If you can not find a tool and you decide to do a manual removal and you are not a computer geek with experience doing this I would suggest that you change you mind. If you are thinking but I read all the instructions how hard could it be? ... Let me put it to you this way. It would be akin to a MED student saying, "Ok I read the book ... now somebody hand me a scapel". Almoe A+, MCSE, MCITP, CCSP

This is also why some of you might have noticed that on occasion being in the #3 spot on the Search Engine Rankings gets you more traffic than the number one and two positions. This sort of adware is rampant among windows users and several of them mess with the Google results - often the #1 and #2 spots for targeted keywords The companies involved sometimes change the malware so often using updates that the anti-malware companies cannot keep up. They slip right past most existing detection mechanisms.
Use as many utilities as you can to remove this infection. It might be smart to keep it disconnected from all networks for a few days and manually load updates into the anti-malware utilities using removable media. This gives the anti-virus companies a chance to catch up. If you plug the machine back in and it's still infected it might update it's code once again to stay ahead of the good guys writing the detection code. Be aware that I've had six big name utilities fail to detect a Zango variant, with it only getting detected by the seventh. Things are that bad, no shit. |

![]() About 98% of all the infections of my customers is caused by one thing .. They do not keep there Windows and Antivirus software up to date. Because they either fail to set it up to do automatic updates or they don't renew their AV subscriptions.
If you really want to to be safe ... add a partition to your HD and boot up using either Linux or ya might even want to try Chrome (nobody writes virus code for just two users). Surf all ya want .. click anything ya want. If you do get infected no big deal. Almoe AS, BS, BO, GTO, GTFO, STFU

sounds like a "security tool lite" version ... THAT bugger was almost impossible to remove and one had to reinstall OS to stop the nasty
