Mustang offers a lot but I'll choose the M3 every single time.

I woudln't be caught dead in that mustang. You don't buy the bmw to be faster or slower then a mustang, you buy it because it has prestige so you look like a somebody when you pull up to your clients office.

Looking like a yank wanker: $33,000
Looking like a pompous douche: Priceless.

For everyone else, there are non-German cars.

From a tuner standpoint - it's the mustang hands down. Cheap as hell to mod, cheap as hell to own, cheap as hell (relatively) to buy.

From anyone the standpoint of anyone else - BMW. More expensive in every respect, but it's a better built car, all around.

And this is coming from the guy who has owned an 89, 98 and 04 Mustang. They're junk.

Different perspectives I suppose.. You're worried about prestige and what others think, which means you're not a car enthusiast. This video is about performance. The M3 is BMW's flagship performance car, they always have been about exceptional braking, handling and acceleration. Mustangs are cheap pony cars, except Ford realizing the economy is in the gutter opted to build better quality cars and this is the result.

You might be better suited in an automatic 525i with 20inch chrome rims.

From a tuner standpoint, and a factory standpoint.

$30,000 less
Gets WAY better gas mileage, 26mph on the hwy vs 20mpg.
Has more midrange torque
Accelerates around the same

Of course it is a better built car, but not because it's a BMW, but because it's $30,000 more.

That's just it though, the older Mustangs were built like shit compared to the new ones. The quality of Fords vehicles has gone up 10 fold, why is it you think they're comparing a Mustang GT to an M3 in the first place? A Mustang could NEVER brake or handle like an M3 until now. Mustangs were never built like they are now, never had a high tech, high revving V8 with variable valve timing and never had a German engineered Getrag transmission.

The Mustangs you've owned never looked or performed remotely on the same level as this one.

This is exactly why I posted this...

I love it. It does everything the M3 does with all the same available options, it gets better fuel economy but it's still for "rednecks" because it's American and it's a Mustang.

Not to say the Mustang is a better car, but to say the Mustang is a piece of shit makes me laugh.

Some people are so unbelievably ignorant it's just comical.

That render has to be the tackiest interior I've ever seen.

It needs dice, and some dingleballs.

A car is not nessesarily a frivilous thing. Take my dad for instance. He runs a construction company building luxury homes for several million dollars. He shows up to his client's houses in a new Mercedes ML. Why? Appearances are everything. Ignoring his need for a SUV (for skiing or whatever), if he showed up in a mustang for $30k then he is just joe builder. With that car, he gives his clients an impression of prestige, taste, and quality.

That being said, you don't exactly find $30k laying on a sidewalk either. By that reasoning everyone should be driving 1989 toyota tercel's for $500 because it will get you from A to B and any spending above that, even for a $30k would be frivilous.

I personally drive an X5. I bought it because I want to be comfortable on long trips, it had a much more powerful diesel engine then the lower end SUVs, and because of the road quality here (or lack thereof), I needed a solidly built car that won't start rattling after 20000km because of some cheap plastic interior. Besides that, as mentioned earlier I like a car that shows success to my clients when I meet with them. It also motivates me when I feel I can buy myself nice things thanks to my hard work. In that way, it IS an investment.

It's all personal opinion. I personally HATE SUVs. I'd rather have a go fast performance toy to give thanks to myself for my hard work.

One man's treasure is another man's trash.

Around here, an X5 is as ordinary as a Toyota Camry.

both are cars i'd never consider. as far as the trying to look professional aspect though, real estate agents take the fucking cake. i have dealt with at least 20 in the last year, they all drive bmw's, pretty much all X5's. it's hilarious.

Yeah, kinda like this one was made for lowbrows and bottom feeders. These were so fast and so good that NASCAR banned them:

We found one rotting behind a barn a couple of years ago and we are bringing it back. I think we will be able to go up against a BMW or even a Mustang quite successfully.

440 Six Pack, 2:76 Sure Grip(Posi), 727 Torque Flyte, converted to four-wheel discs using Imperial rotors and axles, 15x8 wheels front, 15 x 10 rears with replica G70x15 front, N50x15 rears.........est. top end: 220mph.

Speed is the name and money is the game.

Would you care to play?

Sally.

try both, drive them - and not only on straight roads but take them to the track. once you "feel" both cars you will know why the BMW costs $30,000 more. the Mustang is surely not a bad car, but for my taste it looks too brutal. and i can't stand the interior of american cars in general, always full of cheap plastic. even if it might look better now on some cars, it still feels wrong. sit in a BMW or especially Audi and you will see yourself.

Either that or its showing hes working in the interest of himself and his gains come first before the client. Could be cutting corners, etc. Personally I'd want a construction guy to drive a big truck, makes it look like he knows what hes doing and not just a mouthpiece.

I've driven the same car for 12 years and I paid 2500 dollars it 12 years ago. I bought a new car a few years ago (honda civic) and I really don't know if it was worth the money. Its nice to not have to worry about repairs and the new gizmos are nice but not necessary.

BMW owners around here have their own stigma, dickhead french drivers. In Quebec so many people drive BMWs for whatever reason.

What is it that you think the interior of the BMW is made of? Green cheese? Brutal is good. You obviously haven't tried out a new Mustang properly equipped for the road. I've owned BMWs and they are tinny pieces of shit compared to even a cheap Chevy. Over-complicated, over-priced and should be best left over there!

The last really good BMWs were the 2002 tii and the 3.0 CSI.

That's not really entirely true.

Yes, a lot of snobs buy BMWs, but a lot of enthusiasts buy them too..

Anyone remember the E30 M3?

They were 2,800lb no frills true driver's cars. Snobs didn't buy them, they rode like shit, but would tear up an open track and run with overpowered cars like an Elise would today.

They certainly weren't bought to impress clients.

Misconception..Compare the interior of the new Mustang to any other car, (import or domestic).

Does it have plastic? Of course, lol, it's not a $120,000 Porsche. However, it has no more plastic than any other import or domestic in it's price range.

Especially the new Mustangs, it's leaps and bounds more refined than what most of you would expect.

The Mustang is actually the same exact price range as a 1 series BMW. Their interior is nothing special compared to the Mustangs.

Which car is best to rock up at a meeting with is a sterile debate because it is so country specific.

Edit : although in any country I wouldn't go with a mustang, a muscle car to a meeting probably gives the impression you are too juvenile.

it doesnt matter what you say or if you think you are an enthusiast. the target market for these cars are rich housewives.

so nothing else really matters. keep telling yourself otherwise though.

hey if someone likes a car fine. but dont buy a car made for women then use excuses like you are an enthusiast.

it is like buying a saturn you dont go around and claiming yourself an enthusiast just because you own the brand.

its like guys who buy miatas, my buddy has one, he loves it. and he even says its a girly car but he enjoys driving it. so good on him. but it doesnt change the fact it is targetted towards women.

the problem is you have BMW owners who just cant seem to admit what their car really is. im the enthusiast and im telling you BMW are for women.

Your comment doesn't make any sense.

First of all, as an enthusiast I respect all cars cars that perform well. I'm not talking 'preferences' I'm talking hard performance numbers. I don't care what your opinion is about what type of people they're targeted towards.

I knew people who bought E30 M3s TO RACE, they weren't women and they weren't buying them to impress clients. They completely gutted them out, put racing compound tires and went head to head against Corvettes, Vipers, etc on a road course. You could show me a commercial right now with an M3 logo and a tampon, it won't matter those guys are still enthusiasts.

Go checkout the E30 M3 forum, a lot of those guys are hardcore racers.

Agreed 100%

Same curb weight
Same braking distances
Same acceleration numbers
Same skidpad figures
Nearly identical lap times
Same available options

No comparison at all, those guys were nuts to race them against each other!

You can't compare interiors with only pictures.

What he means is that the Mustang is full of cheap hard plastics.

Press on the dashboard of a European car, including the 1 series, it is soft to the touch and warm, that is because they don't use hard plastics but Polyurethane foam. rubber like and very strong. It makes a huge difference to the quality, it doesn't rattle or shake at all, doesn't come off if you pull on it, no gaps between panels, etc.

again, it's a luxury brand v. a non-luxury brand. funny thing though, ford wins on all fronts- price, performance, and quality.

i can respect a good car as much as the next guy but anyone who is influenced or impressed with you based on the kind of car you drive isn't worth the rubber on the tires of it...

No it isn't, not a single European car manufacturer will use hard plastics throughout anymore.

Having said that I like the Mustang

Not sure how a throwing a car round the track comparison test relates to real life ownership and usage.

And taste in cars is very country specific too.
