Here's how it would work, according to the complaint: Some horny dude taking advantage of a "free trial" on amateurmatch -- during which he can only receive messages, not send them -- gets messages from fake women to persuade him that, hey, maybe this site could get him laid. The suit states that these are "automated Bot messages ... sent from different fake profiles."

For instance, two allegedly fake users named "luckysaga91"and "lapanistar" sent the same message to different guys:

The T&C are accessed through a javascript link (which doesn't work on my browser - it just ticks the checkbox) so it's likely that the search engines haven't found it. In addition, it's blocked by robots.txt...

It's about time a consumer did that. False advertising is false advertising according to the FTC. Very little gray area. I don't believe the guy deserves damages, but a refund might be in order if the correspondence was all fake.

I did a little research based on the case I remember. It turns out that it was a class action lawsuit in California. If I remember correctly, the FTC and California AG got involved, but in the end the lawsuit was dismissed.

I thought the FTC and AG had formally filed a compliant, but I can't locate anything that backs that up.

In any case, I am too lazy and I don't really care to do any more digging.
