I was told now that almost every Russian has a credit card nowadays, they were handed out to fight illegal employment. But most people only use it to receive their salaries and not for anything else. Especially not for paying online for porn, as Russian mass media keeps telling not to do that because you gonna get fucked... Not exactly wrong, especially when using it at sites of certain US programs. *cough* SOBV *cough*

So, sorry again - was wrong about that.

1. People all over ex-USSR, especially in Russia really have debit cards, not credit but debit cards. There are credit cards also but they are not popular as of Russians are afraid of debts. In USA you spend 30k, declare bancruptcy and go free, in Russia they will take all your stuff and put you in jail.

2. Russians do not pay for porn because its a luxury entertainment. You can still see free stuff online and first thing they care is food and vodka, really there is no middle class but poor and 0,5% rich.

3. Cyberxxx is offended and he pointed why ( jews, italians and so on... ). But my experience tells me that for a reason Western world accepts Colombian drug dealers better then Russians. Why? Because STEALING is worse then
"HONEST" drug dealing.

I remember seeing some oddball countries on Verotel - it's obvious from the signup emails showing blank or bogus addresses that they have a much weaker scrub. Had a signup from India and once even Korea. Can't recall seeing any from RU though

To the others: no one will send you to jail if you can't return a credit (say $30k). The bailiffs may arrest some of your property which is not considered as life-essential one, e.g.: a car, a TV set, a computer, a guitar etc until you won't return the credit. However they can't arrest your apartments/house (if you have only one) etc. This is how it works in Russia.

As far as I know, this sort of "people" is rotten even more than anybody else, because on one hand, they love their motherland (in his case it's Ukraine) and sincerely hate everyone who "didn't let make it free" (in his case it's Soviet Army which has beaten Ukrainian Waffen SS troops during WWII). But on another hand... he run away from his lovely country for a "better life" somewhere else (in his case in Europe).

If the company accepts more people as customers, the company will make more profits. A lot of the time, it could be a language problem. If the company can communicate in more languages, it can accept more customers. The currencies and payment methods could also be different. If the company has more currencies and payment methods, the company will make more profits.

My father lives in Russia so I know a bit about it. Spot on about debit cards. But I see the fact that they don't have Credit cards as a big advantage, CCs are actually bad economy. It is close to impossible to get a mortgage in Russia, but it's also a good thing. It's probably the reason why Russia has a $ 380 bil. stabilization fund and UK & US have trillions of national debt.

I also heard that pensioners live below poverty line in Russia etc. But I have just helped my father to pick a new laptop and he is a pensioner and he doesn't live in Moscow. So I don't buy that.

The reason why Russians don't pay for porn is that you can freely download anything you want from the torrent network. I believe it is considered ridiculous there.

There are some other things, not mentioned yet.
1. Western companies do not offer good Russian versions of their paysites. English is not very popular among most Russian people, it's very hard for them to understand videos from reality sites, for example. Well, some specific niches could be interesting for Russians too, so maybe they would pay even for pure English version...
But...
2. All billers have very bad experience with purchases from Russia/Ukraine etc. Too many carders, frauders, scammers, cheaters etc. They just don't want to fight with chargebacks, it's much easier for them to block all Russian/Ukrainian attempts - they might lose 0.01% in customers, but they save way more really in all investigation efforts etc.

I don't tell all Russians are cheaters, there are many honest webmasters/businessmen from former USSR. But still very bad experience...
