latest email from alphaskyproductions.com

Quote:
Hello, just a quick message requesting for you to please remove any of your affiliate links and or posts in: http://peachyforum.com/ Please remember that we do not wish our affiliates to advertise in free permanent public websites that do not update or archive their posts. Of course you may always advertise in your own blogs, websites, etc... just not in these large public sites where many affiliates tend to post their links together creating a "free" library for all our free FHG's and thus not inducing sales due to over promotion. Please refer to #8 in our TOS. Thank you for understanding and taking the time out to delete or alter a few links in that large public forum. Please do so within the next 2 weeks. Thank you for your continued support. Best, Alpha Sky Productions
why would anyone bother to promote and get grief for doing so.

Did you have these up from long ago or have you recently promoted them?

They are an example of why I tend to avoid sponsors who seem prone to micromanage affiliates. It's usually nothing but trouble.

Oh the irony! He is too busy paying attention to what affiliates are doing and no time trying to figure out what the pirates are doing.

That's the ironic part with sponsors who do this. They won't let affiliates use the content enough or provide enough content yet shit loads of pirates are distributing their full content all over the internet. It's stupid. Affiliates over distributing content might nave been an issue in 2005 but now there are bigger issues to worry about like siterips on torrents and full videos on rapidshare.

Your Affiliate account(s) has/have been deactivated due to violation of acceptable use policy.

Notes from CCBill:
2 Attempts were made to contact the Affiliate. Affiliate does not wish to comply by reducing the amount of promotional materials used (FHG's) in one Affiliate website location. Over promoting our website(s) is not allowed. When Affiliate reduces the amount of FHG's to 4 or less per affiliate website location, account will be reinstated. Please note, item # 8 in our TOS, no posting FHG's on permanent public boards that do not update and remove their links after 10 days. Account suspended until matter is corrected.

What anoyed me most was that when I first read the email I thought I had posted somthing on a forum.

I thought I had done somthing wrong.

I know some people will think this email is directly sent to them rather than all there affiliates.

We are just trying to avoid these types of over promoting. Anybody that sees this link and is a SITE OWNER will 100% agree with what we are trying to do.

This is what we are trying to change in regards to over promoting:
http://sxx.com/search/query/q/apple+.../0/type/2.html

who would ever buy a membership with all of this free content to view?

We are managing our content to the benefit of our own survival as well as our affiliate's survival.

All we hear from affiliates and site owners on these boards are how bad sales are and how bad the adult business is.

We are trying to make a difference. No matter how small it is, it's some place to start.

Controlling the amount of free content in one location is essential to the survival of any website.

Thank you for your time and understanding what we are doing.

Alpha Sky Productions

Look at this site: http://sxx.com/search/query/q/apple+.../0/type/2.html and tell me honestly, "who in their right mind would purchase a membership with all of these free samples to browse thru?"

Its not as major as a small time program saying they give affiliates 50% and only give them 42.5% by making them pay ccbill fees. Its a little box that needs ticking in the ccbill webmaster program. I wonder how many programs do that!? We dont!

So you're starting by harassing your affiliates who are doing nothing more than posting your free promotional content. Do you even go after the pirates or have you not gotten around to that yet?

To top it off did people post this stuff before or after you came up with this new policy? Are users even able to edit posts on that forum after such a long period? I don't think you realize how much affiliates hate this kind of stuff. It's your business and no one has to promote you but I think you should be more reasonable.

Everybody loses when consumers are given everything for free. No sales to the affiliate and no sales to the site owners.

The current model of FREE FREE FREE does not work. It will take years for owners to put the "plastic wraps" back on their content and make people "purchase" instead of browse for free.

You don't see guys in 7-11 jerking off the to the magazines on the rack, then putting the magazine back.... make them pay for it first.

why are you posting/hyjacking this thread?

Do you promote the twins? No

So why post in this thread?

Why enter a thread just to post abuse?

Have you posted anything about the site/twins? No.

You just desided to post abuse.

Its a discrace.

Or you could see it as more post the odd pics, the more your site becomes well known.

I know some sites that do huge sales becase they are so heavily posted that people join.

We are not harrassing affiliates for over promoting, we are protecting our affiliates that are selling our content for future sales as well as our own survival.

I can't keep addressing the same issues. It does seem that most posters here do not even rep our content and just like to fight online.

We have many affiliates who are very happy with us and understand how we run our business. There are only a small few that are over promoting and once the correction is made, everything will be fine as before.

All we ask is to delete the over promoting. It's time to think about the future of the site model.

It's late and I gotta run. It only takes one person to stand up and say, "something has to change." Then others will follow.

Who knows, maybe one day we can all take the internet back and have the surfers pay. Not sure why everybody gives it all away for free.

Have a nice one... I'll check back tomorrow.

Play nice! ;)

I signed up with you but stopped promoting after one of the first incidents. Even though you seemed very clueless then I thought I'd give you a chance.

I think you should reconsider what is reasonable. It's hard to understand how you run your business because it would seem you keep changing the rules all the time. As I recall it this policy of limiting the amount of free content used is rather new. Then before that you were going to switch processors and force all affiliates to change links. I also believe it was you who called a couple affiliates out specifically in a mass email?

It's your business but I'm telling you that affiliates do not appreciate these kind of hassles and most will not put up with it.

The example you have given is forums.

You ARE aware that even if people could remember where they had posted something and find it again a lot of forums DON'T have an edit facility?

Even though the policy itself is a bit crazy I think it would have been more reasonable to make it "from this day forward" rather than to make it retroactive and ask people to delete stuff that used to be in line with her terms before the new rule.

This is not directed at AlphaSky but at the concept of 'over promoting'.

It is my personal opinion that if a sponsor is providing their affiliates with hundreds or even thousands of FHGs or HFLVs or any other kind of promotional material that they are implying the use of that material at the affiliates discretion.

IMO if a surfer goes to a site and sees a ton of promotional material for certain sites, they will remember that site. The more they see the better the branding and I never underestimate the value of branding

As long as the promotional material is not giving too much away on any one FHG (as an example) the better. They get to see that the site has a lot of content and it is content they like.

It is up to us as sponsors to do the tease whether the surfer is looking at one gallery or a hundred of them. It is up to the affiliate to get the tease in front of the surfers eyes

your results may vary

AlphaSky,

One thing I don't think you understand is that many affiliates promote 500+ sponsors. Imagine if each one of them changed link codes, wanted me to pull galleries, or otherwise radically changed their rules every other month in a way which required hours of my time with each occurrence. There would be no way that I'd ever have any time for promotion. I'd be too busy catering to the whims of my 500+ sponsors. Please keep us in mind when you make policy changes. There's usually a way to make things less of a hassle while still getting things done... Good luck with your business.

Agreed. You cant start deleting galleries, but you can ask affiliates not to promote as much... Its all still a bit silly.

Its still all promotion & exclusive. I think the program should just not offer as much & forget emailing their clients with this crap...

I also continue to think that its a ridiculous situation for a mindless fool to post this thread, considering his program has no new updates, galleries or content

Fucking twats.
The only person being a child in this thread is you. This has nothing to do with you or your program and you're taking a bad stand on this issue so you can argue with someone for the sake of arguing.

As for the real issue at hand in this thread, I think what's grating on affiliates is rather than send an email out to the specific webmasters on a case by case basis it was blasted out to the entire program list. In effect, whether intentional or not, your chastising every webmaster who's taken the time to register for your program for something the majority have not done.

If the issue is you don't want affiliates spamming message boards with unwelcome content it shouldn't be difficult to locate which affiliates are spamming the message boards and contact them directly. If the issue is you don't want your promotional content posted on websites that are high volume and low conversion, if it's promotional content you are making available through your program and you're affiliates aren't posting it where it's unwanted or unlawful, it does seem like a hollow complaint. While I know TGP directories and the like don't convert like they used to, it does seem a bit odd that you wouldn't want your promotional content added, if thats what you're trying to say.

Regardless of the point you're trying to make, it's still best addressed individually with the webmasters who's activity you are unhappy with, rather than your entire program on the whole. The email does read like you are unhappy with the specific performance of the recipient, that they have somehow engaged in practices you find to be unsavory, when in fact it's most likely not the case. It's your program to run as you wish, just trying to drop my 2 cents on how others might see it and why your affiliates feel like they are being micromanaged.

subject regarding our prior email...

If you have never heard of Peachy Forums http://peachyforum.com and did not post there, then there is no need for you to address this issue at this time. We will be going thru their board within the next 2 weeks. If your affiliate links are posted, we will let you know about it. IF you are are familiar with that board and have posted there, please alter your posts as requested in the prior email. Thank you again for your time and understanding. Alpha Sky Productions. That's the most retarded email from a program owner that I've ever read. Stop harassing your affiliates AlphaSky.

Gary go away.

You have nothing to do with this.

Your just hyjacking the thread and making yourself look foolish.

-------------------------

As for AlphaSky.

I just cannot belive they are doing themselves so much harm.

These guys could be making millions.

Yet they mess around this way.

I am sure they belive they are doing the correct thing but I do not think they realise that affiliates simply read these emails and think, what is the point of bothering when in 4 weeks time they may get an email to change somthing or other.

Its just too much bother.

My advide to AlphaSky is just let a\ffiliates do what they do. Let them get the sales for you and not worry too much.

Actually, it works quite well.

You should be more concerned with how you treated the few affiliates you once had rather than some random sites having a few extra pictures up of your ugly whores.

You went from barely making any sales and barely surviving to essentially killing your shitty program completely, congratulations.
