Old and shit idea
But I bet 85% of you aren't putting cross sells everywhere where you should be...
-- OK. So you have cross sells in your members’ area. You have cross sells in your weekly newsletter. You can see those both work. Where else can you use your brand’s recommending power to make more revenue? Transactional emails. I bet most of you lazy fucks haven’t even altered the CCBill default templates of any of the emails they send ON YOUR BEHALF, have you? What’s your excuse? This really isn’t bloody rocket science. When you send the confirmation email that is the one moment that your customer is the most engaged with your brand that he will ever, ever be. Therefore, why on earth are you JUST sending him a password? Here is what I would tell you to do if you were paying me money for all this advice. - Company logo - Date and order confirmation - MASSIVE THANK YOU - Contact details for problems, billing etc - Three text based product recommendations (I mean you should WRITE why they might like xdating or xsite or xpills Go on. Try it now. Thank me later. -- from today's free adult marketing tip |

I dropped all programs with cross sales. So good luck with that.

Cross sells in the confirmation email? Idiot idea. "Thanks for buying this Membership - now but THIS, THIS and THIS, too (cuase I'm a greedy, desperate FUCK).
FAIL. Now: Doing everything you suggested BUT the cross-sells should be done, yes. (And the way "email marketing" works is you send that first confirmation email, then a follow-up email asking if everything is going okay with their new membership a day or two after the first, then three days later you hit them with a third (and final) email, saying "Glad you're liking your new Membership to xyz; now check out these other products." You've built trust, no go in for the kill; do it "right away" with that initial confirmation email and A. they won't see it, B. they won't 'get it", C. they wanna wank it NOW to what they just joined and D. You come across as a shady fuck. But everything else BESIDES the cross-sells is good advice. ![]()

Sending someone 3 emails in 3 days as you are suggesting is a very bad idea, imho. It goes against ALL best practises and even against some ESP's ToS. But thanks for joining in the discussion. People that do not try and sell their members something else are, imho, very silly. You have someone with a credit card that works and you know they like porn and have bought porn. To refuse to try and sell them dating, cams, toys or another site would damage a site's bottom line massively. To clarify, I am not suggesting prechecked cross sales on a join form. I am suggesting two lines of text saying "As you like shaventeensluts you might also like bigboobed teens. Have a look at it here". |
