:mad Anyone else have this pet peeve?

Cops that disobey traffic signals, change lanes in intersections, and never use their blinker... One of the few things that makes me rage, unfortunately it happens almost every time I drive.

Most recently a cop completely fucking cut me off without using a turn signal and forced me to hit the brakes pretty hard. So instead I took my STi and drove over the median as I needed to make a u-turn anyway. I was hoping he would pull me over but alas, I don't even think he was paying attention.

I still don't understand why cops are always driving around. It's like if we paid firetrucks to patrol the city looking for fires. It makes no sense and is a total waste of money.

I can see it in bad neighborhoods, but in most suburban towns, there is no need to have 20 cops driving around town 24/7.

Yeah, they should just park at Tim Horton's until there's a call. Save all that gas

They're busy writing traffic citations man, it's all about the money!

I got hit by a speed trap once where they were literally filling an entire parking lot full of cars to write tickets to. They were just flagging every car into the lot and lining them up. Look if you're pulling over 90%+ of the cars, it's a problem with the fucking speed limit, not the drivers. In fact, it's safer to stay with the flow of traffic...

They SAY there's no quota on how many traffic citations you have to write in a month but I've known two cops that have both had their squad car taken away because they weren't writing enough traffic citations... One of them was an Lt in the USMC, worked as a cop in NYC and refused to write traffic tickets for anything other than reckless driving, hahaha. He told his superiors that the amount of violent crime taking place in the city didn't justify spending time writing traffic citations when you could be preventing crime or helping citizens solve disputes, etc... apparently they disagreed so he left the force and joined the USMC :P

i got yelled at for cutting some cop off because he thought going 80 (50?) through an intersection was a good idea

the trick is pulling over first

true. i've gotten out of a few tickets by pulling over before the cop has to even turn on his lights/siren. they love that shit! then have all docs/license in order and ready to hand over.

I always see them talking on cell phones and then they give a ticket for the same thing 10 minutes later. I guess all cops have super human multitasking powers that makes it safe.

What bothers me is when cops hang out in gated communities writing tickets.

If 90+% of people are breaking a law the law needs to be revised...

oh, i see what you're saying- you're saying get out of the way quickly when you see a cop hauling ass coming up on you.

i thought you meant when the cop was obviously about to pull you over.

When I was a kid a cop killed a classmates family in a car crash. The woman officer was passing stopped traffic in the left lane and turned off her siren. The family car went to make a left hand turn and bang. The cop lived, got weeks off with pay.

Why did she turn off her siren? Because she was trying to hear dispatch tell her she did not need to go to the scene.

oh, give 'em a break. Most start off making much less than $ 50K a year and risk their lives protecting us when it counts. If they want to run a few red lights and cut off a few drivers, who cares... I'm sure not many of us could do their jobs. Toss in a dozen donuts to go...
