When we talk of beating down enemies, is it really surprising?

All of it, from both sides, is not leadership material. Very unfortunate. Business leaders would never get away with the garbage these guys spew.

lol with the President having veto power, the republicans are not going to be able to do anything for the next two years. Neither is obama. This is going to be one of the ways to get something done, to get Chocolate Jesus out of office.

i get what he's saying- basically he's saying the majority of americans do not want obama care, so to repeal obamacare and move forward with the republican's replacement, assuming that's what the people want (whatever that is, yet tbd), they need a white house that won't veto.

it would make more sense if the republicans have a health care plan.

They had the plan in place before he was even elected. This surely, surely, surely is NOT a surprise to anyone? Come on, please.

In the exit polls, 48% want it repealed, 31% want to expand it and 16% want to leave it as it is. Thats 47% who want to expand or leave it, and 48% who want it repealed.

That math was probably always there. I don't see it being repealed. As difficult as it is "getting things done", it's much tougher taking that away. That was most likely always the plan, every politician knows how that works.

I found this passage just now and thought it was pretty funny.

Quote:
Obama also acknowledged the disappointment of his reform-minded 2008 supporters, blaming part of the Democratic debacle on his inability to challenge business-as-usual in Washington, especially the use of earmarks and the backroom deals cut to pass health care reform.

“We were in such a hurry to get things done, we didn’t change how things were done,” conceded Obama, The president didn’t push back when a reporter suggested the results represented a rejection of his presidency or his agenda.

Obama also has already (once again foolishly) told them he's willing to work with whatever plans they bring him, as long as they work to help the middle class. He didnt learn from Chuck Grassley like the rest of the world did.

He walks tall, but has no stick.

or perhaps FoxNews

McConnell, who is speaking at the Heritage Foundation on Thursday, caught flak for saying after Tuesday's election that his primary objective now is to convince voters to remove Obama from office in 2012.

What Obama didn't get is he was leader of the nation, he acted like the leader of the democrat party. Now he will have to do like Clinton did in 94 and actually work with the GOP or he will be a one term president.
Either start over and replace it or gut it and make it work, but I think any healthcare law where the people that wrote it are exempt from it along with 30 other corporations and unions is not going to work in anyone's eyes.
You can spin this anyway you want, but the people are in charge and showed Barry with their votes. he can either change from the arrogant asshole he has been into a working politician that has the power to work with the Democrats and the GOP and make this a better country.
Also, I'll bet the unemployment numbers will start dropping, because now the business people of this country will feel better about investment, they will not have to worry about what next fuck up the Barry in charge will be trying to shove down their throats.
I still believe that Barry pushing healthcare is the reason that the unemployment numbers stayed as bad as they have been, but hey I could be wrong. Give it till April, 3 months after the GOP congressmen take their offices and you'll see the unemployment take a big drop, couple percentage points at least.

I saw on the news that the incoming house gets to tweak the district lines because of the census, that will help in elections in the future, giving them even more power

thanks to everyone for the sources. I would be interested to see what he is saying now about cooperation with the white house but to be honest, I am taking a very measured 'head in the sand' approach and it is working out nicely

Two years of nothing are coming. And in that time a year of electioneering.

Unless the US economy gets better the electorate could be looking for a scape goat. Will it be Obama or the Republicans?

Depends who comes off looking the culprit to the middle ground. The extremes never decide elections, it's the floating voter who does. Mostly Middle of the Middle Class. Will they see Obama or the Republicans as the culprits for their plight?

Dangerous game for the Republicans to be playing.

He was a pompous dick that loved the media attention so much he took every opportunity to soak up TV time, which meant demonizing somebody or going off on a rant about the evils of everyone else. Don't worry, I'm sure his 2 year stint will pad his law firms pockets just fine.

It's naive to think Obama didnt TRY to work with the GOP. The "wake up" moment here for citizens is that the GOP doesnt INTEND to actually try to work with the president.

Obama's wake up moment is to finally stop being so hopeful that eventually the republicans will actually decide to do anything. It's 100% political tactics and strategy to block 100% of everything Obama and the democrats want. Even if it means going on tv and saying with a straight face that unemployment benefits only encourage unemployment.

LOL. He was one of the wealthiest members of Congress, founded a successful public company along with a successful law firm, and has been involved with politics his whole life and Washington for many years. The guy is successful at what he sets out to do, no doubt about that.

There are many total twat Republicans. There are many total twat Democrats. There are a few good Republicans. There are a few good Democrats.

Then there are guys like Alan Grayson.

Everything isn't a R/D battle. The guy was out there. And I'm sure that has contributed to both his success and his recent failure.

I'm always surprised at how few people actually vote in the US. The last time more than 40% of voting age people voted (during a non-Presidential year) was 1970.

it would make more sense if the republicans have a health care plan.
They will just keep sending the bill to the whitehouse, Obama keeps vetoing it and Barry will look like the bad guy, The incoming congressmen ran on it, they will push it, thats what the people want

So you're blaming the GOP that hasn't been in power in the house or senate for 4 years for the 9.8% unemployment and the 1.3 trillion budget deficit?

BTW, nice work on the fonts, did it take you long to figure that out?

think about that

Once again, exit polls show 48% want repeal, 47% want to expand or keep health care reform the same.

Pretending this is some form of mandate will bite the GOP in the ass in 2012.

depends on the polls you read
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/publ...in_t he_house

Rasmussen Reports telephone exit polling found that 59% of those who voted on Election Day favor repeal of that law, including 48% who Strongly Favor it. This echoes what we have found in surveys every week since March.

Exactly. Just dumping Obamacare without a working solution ready to go is going to lead to the Republicans being voted out in 2012.

Here's what John Boehner wanted in the past

http://www.gop.gov/solutions/healthcare
■Number one: let families and businesses buy health insurance across state lines.
■Number two: allow individuals, small businesses, and trade associations to pool together and acquire health insurance at lower prices, the same way large corporations and labor unions do.
■Number three: give states the tools to create their own innovative reforms that lower health care costs.
■Number four: end junk lawsuits that contribute to higher health care costs by increasing the number of tests and procedures that physicians sometimes order not because they think it's good medicine, but because they are afraid of being sued.
