what is going on?

another political thread, i apologize, but i have been watching the events after our 1.5 billion dollar G8/G20 party and things are becoming more and more disturbing.

in a nutshell, bunch of protestors are arrested without charge (or stupid charge), thrown in prisons that can only be described as chicken cages for 25 hours +, and still, today, are being harassed for practicing constitutional rights that all of us enjoy or will enjoy when push comes to shove.

http://www.thestar.com/news/article/...onal-challenge <- bail of $84,000

this is the example i was reading about today, but it lists something in it about a gentleman under the name of "Alex Hundert" who was arrested for violating bail conditions of 'not attending political rallies' or whatnot, by attending a university panel discussion.

ok, these guys might be tin heads, sure, but isn't this a legal way to arrest university students? am i reaching?

being banned from going near government buildings during summits is one thing, especially if he has caused trouble with security in the past, but banning wireless device use? that doesn't sound reasonable in todays society. Most jobs out there require a device like that now, at least in some form.

as for taking away his passport if he did anything illegal that is pretty much what happens anyway.

They aren't university students and one is a professional anarchist - just the sort of people that go looking for trouble then cry afterwards.

fair enough, but i believe you can create an element to justify any action

People don't get arrested for protesting, they get arrested for throwing things at cops or obstruction of justice.

we both know he wasn't only standing there with a cardboard sign and chanting... so lets not pretend that is even the same thing.

ahh i'm not sure if you're completely caught up on current events but a lot of these people were arrested for just that

100s were even arrested in an area that was designated a 'protest zone', for no.reason.whatsoever.

if you want, i can find you the story about the CRA employee arrested and beaten with his own prosthetic leg in this 'protest zone'

you think the CRA agent was throwing things at cops?
