The 700 has some serious safety issues that Remington has known about for decades. Could have been fixed for a few cents years ago and now its a few bucks a gun.

Unless it can be modified into a safer platform I would not load it.

Sniper Rifles: M82 SASR, M40A1

Rifles: M4 Carbine, M16

Machine Guns: M240, M249 SAW, M2 .50 cal

Grenade Launchers: M203, MK-19

Rockets: AT4, SMAW

Handguns: Waaay too many too list :P

You've probably guessed that I was in the military, hahha. By FAR the most fun I had firing a weapon was the MK-19 full auto belt fed grenade launcher. During SOI (School of Infantry for the USMC) you fire the MK-19 and you're supposed to fire short 1 - 3 round bursts. As soon as I pressed that trigger down I was instantly addicted; I couldn't stop myself! As soon as the rounds started impacting it became impossible for me to stop until our commanding officer standing near by started ripping me a new one telling me I'd be charged with insubordinate conduct. I then stopped firing and was made to do pushups for the next hour, breaking only for water.... SOOOOO worth it

I'm not a big fan of AKs, and if someone handed me one, I'd probably give it back and ask for an AR15 or a nice dependable sidearm.

Hah I was just talking earlier with a friend of mine that EVERY TIME both of us have fired an AR15, it's jammed... every single time, hahahaha Might be cheap ammo but still...

Also just for the hell of it, my all time favorite side arm:

SIG SAUR P226 X-Five Tactical

I owned an Ar15, Desert Eagle and Mossberg 500 shotgun so I've fired those. I've also shot on full-auto:

Ak47, mp5 Navy, mp5k, Thompson45, Uzi, m4, saw, m60.

If anyone has any reccomendations for a good pistol w/o alot of recoil lemme know. I don't want to get too girly and get something too small caliber that;s not going to stop someone. Out of the pistols I've held the one that feels the best in my hand is the Ruger P90.
Yes, thats a .50 cal. It kicks! not necessarily the butt of the gun, but the impact purely from the shell going off kicks anyone around it.

Your fear of guns is something that may bite back. Sure, be afraid of shooting someone or hurting some one on accident, but dont be afraid to grip and fire one. If you live like that then you may someday become a victim and are overall unsafe with a firearm. If nothing else. Handle them to learn how to handle them properly.

always in front. no finger on triggers unless you tend to use it. firm grip. be aware of your shell ejection. if using a hadgun, grip both hands and watch your thumb. be aware of sliding parts of the gun so you dont injure yourself while firing. Always be aware of your safety, on, off or in some cases, where its at on the gun. Try and use both eyes. Most people make some popeye face while aiming.... dont do that. Not with handguns.

Rifles... know where your muzzle is. point it down but dont ground it. Again, firm grip, use your shoulder.

Do all this and you will be more comfortable and more importantly, way more safe.

Last of all. Be confident when firing. Dont be afraid and second guessy. Dont be that girl wondering what its like and letting a pistol fly up and hit you in the face after pulling the trigger. HOLD THAT SHIT TIGHT!! Have fun when practicing

I fired a 22 when I was in rifle club at the ibm country club when I was a kid. Killed lots of time. All the girls in the club were the best shots.

Yes, I've read about that. Safe gun handling was pounded into me when I was a kid, but it's a good call not to practice load it in the house.

I'll test it on the range next year, and handle it with suspicion.

That's pretty much where I'm at except the firing part. I've been to the range a few times so I've gone through the basics- I'm always concious of where the weapon is pointing and I never put my finger on the trigger, etc. I have extreme reverence and respect, pretty much I just have issue with pulling the trigger.

I have a bit of trauma from having someone close to me shot and I need to put that out of my head when I practice. I can't be afraid of it if I'm the one holding it. I know my mind going to that place is not practical- guns don't kill people, people kill people. I can work through it, I just need to get my train of thought on the right track, building confidence instead of fear.

Good Though yes, you have to get past the impractical fear. I too have suffered the loss of fallen friends. My mother watched her friend get shot then held him as he died outside of some bar back in the day. Some people handle it differently. Some want to get away from that harm, but some want to protect themselves. Im not categorizing either of us as I have yet to have the need or the scenario at hand. Youre on the right track just get out there and shoot some targets for fun. Nothing else.

Good story.
You're lucky it was just pushups. I would give after hours pack-drill to people fucking around on my range.
