I am starting out a porn site. I wanted to know the guidelines so as not to break any US or International law.

eg. Disclaimer, Should I use a pop up on first page asking the visitor if they are 18 or not.

I tried searching within the forum but cannot find anything.

Anyone can point me to the right direction.

Some countries the 18 the enter is a legal requirement and also get a 2257 and don't do anything "borderline".

In short, you have a duty of care to prevent minors from accessing the content, don't do pedo, don't break copyrights and you will be fine. Also check your host allows adult content if it don't make sure you backup daily for the time they cancel your hosting for breaching TOS.

Normal adult content is OK but in general the more obscene it is, rape, beatings, extreme and blood etc will attract more attention. For example in the UK it is illegal to show an act that will likely cause physical injury, such as fisting and double anal.

I won't be hiring or talk to an attorney as of now because it will be costly for starters like me.

What I am looking for is somewhat similar to "adsense publisher" website guidelines wherein it outline that we need to put privacy policy, disclaimers, etc.

I know that child pornography is strictly prohibited but I wanted to know if we use the word "nude school girl" besides an image is suggestive of posting child pornography.

Moreover, I wanted to know if age verification is a requirement because I see a lot of website do not have one, others do have a pop up before entering a porn site.

thanks @fendlestick and @MrDeiz , I could use it as a guide.

I dont use an age verification, but I put the meta data in for the porn website blockers to know that it is an adult site.

At least make sure that your site does NOT contain:
1) Child Porn
2) Underage Porn

Also:
Animal porn, Rough/Gore Porn drive people away.

We use the "restricted to adults" meta tag & are strict in reviewing all user submitted content.
