Can I process adult subscriptions through my company as a third party?

I run a computer consulting company and I am helping a customer with her amateur web site. Rather than have her set up a CCBill account at 14%, could I process her subscriptions through my merchant account if I was to get one? I think I've heard people refer to this as third party billing? Obviously I'm new to this aspect.

What are the pros and cons of this and what would Visa do if they found out I was processing CC's for adult material?

Thanx, David.

Why would you risk that for a customer? You could lose your merchant account if they don't process for adult transactions. Adult transactions are so much different than regular transactions. Do you realize how many chargebacks you might get? That alone would put a red flag on your account and would cost you $$$. (Take a look at your terms with your merchant account and see what chargebacks cost).

Try paymonde.com - Use coupon code: G1URDN401 for discounted rates. They don't charge VISA fees and you can sell tangible items.

I say stick to CCBill or one of the other adult processors. Yes the fees might be high but its worth the headaches you will get with your own merchant account.

They will take care of all the processing and customer billing support issues. Third party processors like CCBill are experts at adult transactions, its worth it.

No...

Visa has a program called Internet Payment Service Provider. (IPSP) that you must be a member of.

Doing 3rd party billing without that special type of account breaks the Visa rules. You would get caught, and you would then be placed in the Terminated Merchant File (TMF) and never be able to get a merchant account again.

Also, your account name would most like not be something subscribers would know. "Joe's Computers" or something like that.... so when guys get their statement and see that there they think to themselves "I didn't buy any computer shit" and call the bank to reverse the charge... you lose the money, and after too many reversals / chargebacks, you lose the account.
