SEO Optimization

I've been starting to do research into this topic - was playing around on Google this morning and reading about their spiders and goolebots - yadda, yadda...

What are some helpful tips from you veterans?

Each search engine wants to be the best search engine out there so by that very concept they each want to have the most unique and relevant content.

So your job is to be unique and be relevant for your specific keywords.

First and foremost, every page on your website needs to have a unique and relevant title and meta description. The description must not be to short, not to long.

Make sure your web pages have a lot of text. Search engines don't care if your graphics are pretty or not. They want text and the more text you give them to devour the better.

Don't over use a keyword. A very common mistake people make is using the hell out of a keyword. In reality that could end up hurting you. This concept is called "keyword density" and it's something that would do you very well to learn about.

Take everything you read with a grain of salt. Even what you read on Google.

If Searches are supposed to be relevant do you really think they will tell you how to manipulate the pages???

SEO is not as hard as people think, and there are a few tricks., but nothing that is magical.

I read something on there about sites who are linked to you? That Google will recognize a site that is linked to other sites? I've heard this a few times from different sources. Is there something to this?

LIke my page rank can be higher than someone with the same key words, if my site is linked on other sites as well?

relevant links are great to get, don't worry so much about page rank though, a link from a relevant site is better than lots of links from unrelated sites

the goal isnt page rank, the goal is to get people to your site to convert. using proper headings, content descripitions, no keyword spamming, having multiple pages for your site.

if you have keywords like free this and free that, you are going to get people that dont convert. you want to be specific in your content and only include content which is in the page and not content that isnt. dont use same background and text as well. and it takes time. search google for seo or hit me up on icq or send me a pm and i can lead you in the right way

I guess the weird thing is for my site http://www.rickiraxxxonline.com - google is telling me that it is 168. By the one at the top is http://rickiraxxx.net and it's still in production - which I thought was weird.

How can a site still in production, rank higher than one that has been out for 30 days or so??

Should I put text on my ENTER site as well?

Like d-null said, don't worry about Page Rank. It's pretty much irrelevant now. What's important is where you come up on the search engine results page(s).

For example, neither site is within the first 20 pages of results on Google for "ricki raxxx". This is not good.

As for a new site compared to an old site, one reason the old, in production site may rank higher is the age of the domain. If it's been online for years in it's current state, that in itself will help that site rank higher. Aged domains are a good thing to have.

I would definitely put a title, description and keywords on your "enter" page. On this page make sure you have a "introduction" paragraph that contains your keywords.

I'm confused - isn't "page rank" the same as where it is listed in the search results?

If I want it to be on the first page of search results - shouldn't my page rank be in the top 10 or so?

If so - why is everyone saying "don't worry about page rank"

Page Rank isn't the same as where you actually appear in the search results. There can be multiple sites with the same Page Rank for a given keyword. And Page Rank only goes up to 10: Google assigns a numeric weighting from 0-10 for each webpage on the Internet; this PageRank denotes a site?s importance in the eyes of Google.

You still have to contend with all the other sites with the same Page Rank for a given keyword.

Dedicate each page to a particular keyword or keyword phrase...i.e. Don't talk about blonde babes and goth girls on the same page. Instead, dedicate one page (including your kw and/or kw phrase in the title, meta description, and heading) to that kw and try to have about 200 words of text, preferably at the beginning.

Backlinks and PR are not important.

Build your site like in the Big G FAQ mentioned for Users and not searchengines.

This is the only advice I can give. You need to attract users and not searchengines.
