Nope can't blame the older timer

I do not often write on the board I usually just cruise around reading and watching how the industry is doing? I have been operating in this industry for a while now ( many years) LOL?Seen good times and bad! I seen the shit heads and the good people! Some I trust and some I would just simply piss on. The changes I have seen over the years is the days of free search engine submission gone, evolving to assholes selling each other junk traffic out of their frustration an inability to make sales? The rising cost of search ppc and other stuff?.What absolutely brings me to saying anything here on this topic is the fact we are all doing business in a competitive market place with a lot of new and old idiots.. ripping people off.

I remember when I first start off in this business some years ago. I did not know shit fuck all about marketing?.LOL?But I stay around?watching reading?even getting ripped off once or twice by a few jack ass older timers ( But this is not all of them ) There is a lot of good people out there small business -medium - larger!

But I have never lowered myself to the stupidity of dishonest practices nor labeled someone?one thing I was told years ago by mike south ? always be nice and respectful! I will also say one of the most honest people in this industry ( older timer to me) smile? porno Dan taught me that there is some people in this industry that are so honest?.you?d give them the shirt off your back!

So like in every business?on the Internet or in real life we need to check them out before doing business with them?.and understand just because someone seems to be helping you out?they may not be!

No one can blame the old timer or the new person or persons! If you want someone to blame?blame all the fuckers using unfair business tactic, pop ups, redirects, selling shit traffic claiming its good!, jack ass sign up to trade scripts and link list ?not sending traffic back and using hidden links and taking links down?all them jerks who think its smart to sell a person a pay site membership with only 5 movies in it and 2 pictures sets? and lets not forget them unscrupulous affiliate programs? that when you send hits to them they seem never to convert?. And shit software sales companies? Naw man you can not blame the old timers? You have to blame anyone that uses decietful tactics and sends spyware, and other junk that auto downloads onto a person computer? get ride of them fuckers and we all be better off!

So no we can not blame the older timers lots of good ones out there

Hm! I wonder why I am quiet usually LOL!

Anyways this my two cents worth! LOL

Ron2k1 12-30-2008 02:40 AM

Even thought the topic-starter is probably an idiot, he has a good point.

In the past year most of the old-timers have lost tons of traffic, only very few of them inovate. Most of them are just trying to survive as long as possible with their old dying business model

Decided to check out your xzye.com site - truly impressive for a newbie...

From Alexa:

Xzye.com has a traffic rank of: 435,015

Speed: Very Slow (98% of sites are faster), Avg Load Time: 11.1 Seconds

How do you do it?

I honestly don't care if someone is a newb or an "old timer" as long as he's responsible.....

Congrats, you're both fucking idiots... I am talking about the "old timers" that DID something for this industry BEFORE it started going down the shitter. Not sure how you're equating what I said to the entire playing field of the industry. I consider ONLY people who have been doing this awhile AND successful as old timers. I have been at this since 1998 and things were much different then, much BETTER.

the minute content producers and program owners started giving away endless hardcore content for promotion is the minute everything went downhill....and that was pretty early on in the whole scheme of things...so, are you referring to the people before that, that shaved clicks off the ppc payout schemes? or maybe guys like 12clicks and serge that just cancelled affiliates accounts before they were paid and claimed those people scammed them without proof?

SO MUCH led to the industry being the way it is today, and I can't find one old timer that didn't stand up and say STOP instead of joining in and contributing...if you can I would love to hear who it is

Before you know it you "Old Timers" are left in the wind- perplexed at how your sites have gone down 80% with no chance of resuscitation.

You can only continue to rob, manipulate, and extort from the newbies and ones with less know how and experienc before they catch on, and flip it on you. Then your business model is fucked! Who are you going to sell your unoriginal concepts to? And all the while- while your falling nobody will lend you a hand because you've fucked them all.

Ok, that's nothing out of the ordinary, just kinda hard to guess what site it is if you only use it to redirect traffic to sponsors.

I don't know that I would use the word "most" as I know quite a number of oldtimers that are doing things now that made the old days look like peanuts. The difference is that since most new things aren't based on the affiliate model there's no reason to make public what they are doing.:winkwink:

Also, I agree that you never want to shit on newbs just because they are newbs as I've seen a number of them grow into whales over the years... :pimp

Okay, the first two I can't show you because the threads got deleted but you were in them buddy buddy with an idiot who got banned named Stellar.

From this thread: http://www.gfy.com/fucking-around-and-business-discussion/872889-torrent-site-books.html

Notice the top two link? Those threads are gone but the ones below are not...

Go ahead and backpedal now, saying you were kidding, because it was obvious you were not... I am actually surprised you didn't get banned when Stellar did over his posts of admitting to stealing content, ie. movies, videos, songs, etc.

I'm a newb

Matt 26z 12-30-2008 11:19 AM

It is true that noobs bring a lot of good ideas to the table, but not because they have more talent.

1. All noobs are just taking shots in the dark at first. Most fail badly, but a few luck into something new that works well.

2. Experienced webmasters with a stable income do not want to change things and risk making less money.

It takes a couple years before a really good sponsor becomes saturated. Promo methods first talked about on the boards saw their peak ($ per webmaster doing it) at least a year or two prior. It really just comes down to a willingness to try new things.

Dirty D 12-30-2008 11:22 AM

This old timer loves newbies...

especially 18yo girls wanting to get a start in this biz :winkwink:

Every webmaster was a newbie once, we love them all and have paid on time since '99

Newbies make this bonus possible every year :thumbsup

I think director made a great post. It's like any business in the sense that some people are inherently good and fine to work with, while others... not so much. It's wrong to generalize whether it's to praise or punish. So keep your nose to the grindstone and your grains of salt handy and best of luck to you!
:pimp

RayVega 12-30-2008 12:41 PM

I always will consider myself a newbie...and I think a lot of the people who have been around and made success in this business do too. The minute you think you know it all or are invincible...blam, you are smoked. I for one will always be learning, asking "stupid questions", and always help the "up-and-coming". They are the life-blood of the American dream.

But a word of warning...don't let your motivation and determination turn into arrogance, they take away from your character and you risk becoming the very thing you hate (minus the success).
:thumbsup

I find reading a lot of stuff here, taking lots of notes and keeping my trap shut in public about what I'm doing and developing, to be a much better "n00b approach" to this industry... to each his own I guess. :winkwink:

Correct, somehow I thought i was looking at daily stats. So he was bragging about a 20k visitors a day site? lol..

But if he is sending those 20k clicks a day to sponsors as he said, then it's not too bad.

RogerV 12-31-2008 10:51 AM

Old timers didnt get where they are by being dumb. we all evolve and have many new ideas that are implemented.

if your a newb and work hard anyone can make money. its all about making it happen

2 groups.
one has 10 noobs, the other 10 old timers.

you can put your money with one of them.

which one

Your xzye.com sign-up form is fucking broken.

All it does is spit out "Error wrong promotion code" messages.

You might want to fix that before you move on to anything "bigger- better" and "faster-stronger" :2 cents:
