"From 1999-2008 health insurance premiums rose 119% Stating in 2011 a health insurer can not raise your rate more than 10% without federal and state review. If someone says their rate was increased 30% because of Obama, they are lying and are being paid to post lies. Stop upvoting lies. You do get more rebates (in some situations), which could drop your overall paid rate. And if you're older, some plans did get adjusted and costs reduced or if you're below 26 - being on your parents plan is much cheaper than a single plan for yourself. |

I didn't say it increased because of obama, I said he said rates would not increase And it's only been 2011 for 3 days. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/0..._n_502096.html Some believe that we're all fucked Quote:

all you people crying about health insurance costs, go to the ER like all the rest of the poor and low lifes do...
they get treated and dont pay a dime... :thumbsup i love how people blame the govt for not making them successful enough in life to be able to pay for their healthcare... :1orglaugh . |

The only REAL solution is to starve the beast.
When you get angry enough to actually DO something, the thing to do is to drop your health insurance completely. Health insurance, for profit, is the BIGGEST scam that ever was. Now those very companies that we all hate are funding the GOP like never before, all in hopes of reversing the small gains Obama HAS been able to make. |

who is at fault isn't really relevant, but the fact is that I'm worse off now and I'm sure so are you because of this new bill... |

Health insurance rates increase on an average of close to 10% a year. The new health care plan is not going to change that I don't believe. Your best bet is with a high-deductible plan in my opinion. Basically then you are self-insuring the smaller stuff and can try and shop around and negotiate the best deals.
|
i'm thankful that you all are covering my health care costs. :2 cents:
|
And I thought them raising my premium 3 bucks to 58 bucks a month was a burn :)
|
Hank,
Do you know how much your insurance has went up every, if it did? Would be nice to see how much insurance rates have went up each year, to see if it has jumped in % or not. Sometimes I wonder if it is even worth paying it? Hank said he pays 18K a year, then do you have deductibles, and co pays and then is that covered 100% if not, geez.. One thing I find interesting, who is making the money? Insurance rates go up, but docs say they are making less.. |

The Company waivers are very logical. These Companies/Unions of spent millions if not hundreds of millions fighting for the exact benefits they have/wanted at the exact costs they wanted - to a point that the Company and People aren't being killed. Logically the Fed and Obama aren't going want to fight with 200+ Companies that have been fighting for what they have for years. |

Do you or your family members go to the hospital a lot? If you are self employed are you aware of the higher deductible, lower prem but send the different to a health savings account, which you get to have a nice tax write off at the end of the year. |

Other savings come from Insurance companies not being able to deny kids with a pre-existing illnesses. Which without question will save families money. I'm not worse off by this bill... it hasn't done anything that is even possible to make anything worse off. |
As a single man I pay $232/month for myself under a well known HMO's plan here in Florida.

Is it really a good idea to have a bunch of 25/26 year olds still living at home, relying on mom and dad for everything?
What a bunch of pussies this country is going to turn out. |

Income isn't going up... but the cost to rent, live, continues to increase, along with the cost of insurance... and let's not forget the sky rocketing costs of education and if we want to get technical, the largest demographics of jobless people are younger folks and those coming out of college - ie: people who need insurance but can't afford it. |

If I get lower prem and have to save to self insure...I'm not gaining anything. And yes I'm self employed and claim the tax deductions...but I don't like what's coming out my pocket right now:mad: |

i have great insurance and i am thankful i can afford it... i like to poke fun at the thick skulls here who think any president could make a bill all by himself... the fact of the matter will always be that no matter who is in power, the corps and lobbyists are clearly running the show.. what could be better for the health insurance companies than forcing people to buy their product whether they can afford it or not... and do you know what will change not that repubs have a little power back? nothing, nada, zilch... its all smoke and mirrors...... . |

They have had NO power for 2 years and very little for 2 years before that, it was this healthcare issue that made people so pissed someone like Sharron Angle could almost take Harry Reid's spot. I remember when the Clinton's fucked with healthcare, same thing happened, Healthcare insurance cost jumped. What's entertaining is that the new congress will try to get rid of the new law and with all those senators that are up for re elections in 2012, they could get to the POTUS desk with it. I don't think this it the GOP's fault, I think it's the way the democrats got the job done, if they had worked with the GOP and got some common ground, which I know is a long shot, then the bill would have been accepted by the people better and last November would have been a different story |

They can now only increase your rates max 10%, starting this year IF it increases for you.. something you can budget off of. Unlike the OP, which increased 15%. |
