For Those Who Hate Tubes ...

How many of you tube hating people promote programs with shady xsales, known to bang cards, etc?

I'll use a real-life example. At a show, I spoke to a person who is actively against tubes, comments in most tubes posts, etc. The person tells me that the niched paysite they have still does great, yet their free site sales went to shit and they blame the tubes.

Did anyone ever think that promoting card banging programs is making you lose sales? Who would visit a site again after they joined a paysite and received a bunch of mysterious charges?

Until the tubes directly affected programs, no one cared how billing practices could hurt your site and the industry in general. I've preached this at every seminar I've spoken on, even at this last Phoenix Forum.

Indeed niched sites still do well, they have a solid following.

Which programs? Do be more specific.

You can do the searches on PornUsers, RipOffReport, etc.

The biggie is the xsales to fake sites. You get a membership to a site that isn't anything and it's a bitch to cancel.

It doesn't surprise me people turn to tubes if they have been ripped off. They get to watch porn and not have a bunch of charges.

Roald 04-26-2011 10:07 AM

yes.

......

96ukssob 04-26-2011 10:08 AM

1) niche and microniche stuff will continue to convert well on pay sites because there is limited content.

2) if your still pushing hardcore or anal sex sites then your an idiot and no shit your not getting sales

3) everything changes over time. TV shows are now available on programs like Hulu or Netflix, as well they are still free on ABC.com. If you want to compete in that space, then you have to have the money to. The small guy is getting pushed out with competition that has deeper pockets.

Believe it or not, the same thing happens in the mainstream affiliate network too. Years ago, a half wit ape could of made an easy $1k/mo with very little effort with some dumpy single page "review" website and some AdWords traffic. Now, all the big players are pushing their sites and driving profits down to where it is being impossible to compete.

Here is my :2 cents: on this... if you want to stay alive in this field, then either have some money to spend or get creative in what you do

Yea, because no one would watch tubes if the paysites didn't have any cross sales and were full of HQ content.

You are dumb.

Sid70 04-26-2011 10:09 AM

With all respect. Show us your tits, please.

I didn't say that. I said IF they have been ripped off I could see why they would go to a tube, so that implies that they were once a member of a site.

Some people will always want free shit, it's been that way since the beginning, look at password sites. There were many big guys that started out shady, it's nothing new.

And being called dumb by a person with no sig, joined in 2010 (well after all this shit began) and have Domain Broker's avatar doesn't hold much merit with me.

Qbert 04-26-2011 10:13 AM

Over simplification.

Illegal tubes are just one part of the problem. Malicious cross sales and card banging, file sharing forums and torrents, economic downturn, etc. all have a part in the declining sales.

Agreed, I'm not saying card banging, shady xsales and billing practices is the reason adult sales are down today, I believe it's a culmination of many things that have gone on over the years. I don't believe it's all tubes and it all started happening when they arrived on scene.

merina0803 04-26-2011 10:20 AM

so are tubes legal or illegal? why is this so tough for you people to answer? :1orglaugh

A bunch of the larger tubes have moved to be legal tubes. Many times people go to PornHub.com and see 40 minute movies. Well, PH along with RedTube license their content, and spend a lot of money doing so. So those 40 minute movies are most likely licensed to them by a studio that gave them full rights to do whatever with for $40/DVD, however due to the past setup of tubes, those 40 minute movies were "user uploaded."

There will always be illegal tube sites, however there will always be some type of illegal site out there pushing porn.

I think that's a problem, yes, but I think illegal tubes are the majority of the problem.

LAJ 04-26-2011 11:12 AM

What pisses me off is that once a surfer is fucked over, he'll never want to pay for porn again. Poisons the pot for all of us.

arock10 04-26-2011 11:14 AM

fuck the surfers, either way

Yes, that has been my big argument for years. We lose a porn surfer/buyer from the industry, they aren't going to come back and test another paysite. They're done buying porn, from anyone.

Very few in this side of the business have a clue about what damages sales. They just blame everything but themselves. So long as they make instant money they're fine. Started a long time ago.

Paying people 50%+ to load the Internet with free porn. :upsidedow
Giving these people every possible support possible. :upsidedow
Selling crap porn. :upsidedow
Not responding to customers needs. :upsidedow
Hiding the cancel button. :upsidedow
Sending traffic to sites who would fuck them, the surfer and anyone else if they got the chance. :upsidedow
Sending traffic to Dating Sites, knowing full well free ones are available. :upsidedow
Selling surfers penis pills. :upsidedow

And a few other things that people think are fine.

Then cross sells and card banging.

I've known that giving away content would hurt them in the end. I was told by Steve Easton who ran APIC. And been telling them for a decade.

Yes all was fine until, BW crashed in price, Internet speeds upped to a level that meant pirating was easy. Now they blame everyone else.

I'm a broken record. But it's still fuck the customer, if we have enough traffic (give away enough free porn) all will be fine. :upsidedow

Don't worry access to porn has never been so easy. :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

This bunch can't even sell porn to guys jerking off. How fucked up is that?

'You tube hating people'?

You sound like you have shit on your nose yet you refuse to inhale.

Good luck with the future.

TheDoc 04-26-2011 11:28 AM

Wow, several people in this thread actually are having a problem following this? Well I guess this doesn't really shock me much... if it wasn't for the stupid people none of these companies would have anyone to promote them.

Sid70 04-26-2011 11:29 AM

Okay, no tits.

That's a statement within a question, not a question alone....

What pirate sites do you own or shady sponsors do you promote?

seeandsee 04-26-2011 11:34 AM

Tubes are game changer, and with evil free content offered to people, nothing good!
