So is amerinoc going to be down from 8 pm to 6 am?

They are doing a physical server move. Got an email about it. Are our sites actually going to be down that long? Jeez.

redwhiteandblue 06-24-2016 03:05 PM

Probably a good idea to do a backup before that.

Rochard 06-24-2016 04:46 PM

I don't understand... what are they going to do? Shut down ALL of the servers, physically load them up into trucks, and then haul them over, and bring them all up at the same time? And hope everything comes back up properly?

When Nat Net moved to their new location I don't remember any downtime.... Then again, I just have one small single server.

Apparently yes. They are physically transporting all servers.

MrBottomTooth 06-24-2016 04:56 PM

Dear Customer:

As a reminder, we will begin a physical move of all active servers tonight at 8:00 PM PDT (GMT-7). We expect the equipment to be at the new facility by tomorrow at 6:00 AM PDT (GMT-7) at which time services will start going online. There will be experienced teams of logistics staff on both ends of this move to ensure that everything goes smoothly.

We are implementing these changes to increase the security and reliability of the service we provide to our customers. We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding. If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to ask.

Thank you,
AmeriNOC

Harambe 06-24-2016 05:24 PM

sux for you

Hannes 06-24-2016 09:13 PM

be sure to have your info/work saved somewhere just in case something happens.

Naughty 06-25-2016 12:08 AM

If only i read that email before i went to bed last night:/

Not alone is Saturday morning our top time of the week, we also could have stopped our expensive FB Ads (1000s of people), backed up our servers and put up other things on store related pages.

I'm already afraid this is gonna take a lot longer than till 6AM (which means the entire day here since we're 9 hrs ahead).

Crossing fingers ....

klinton 06-25-2016 12:20 AM

less than 6 hours left....

I don't get how this company stays in business. Seems there's more complaints than hostgator :).

MrBottomTooth 06-25-2016 03:19 AM

Well it's after 6 am and sites still down. Let's see for how long.

redwhiteandblue 06-25-2016 03:21 AM

Their email said services will start going online after 6am. Presumably we'll get another email when things are up and running.

MrBottomTooth 06-25-2016 04:27 AM

Hour and a half and counting.

AllAboutCams 06-25-2016 05:05 AM

They sent an email a couple of weeks ago saying they were going to move its not like it unexpected.

They didn't mention another 12 hours+ downtime in the email a week ago.

Ferus 06-25-2016 05:18 AM

Servers are in motion....

Naughty 06-25-2016 06:04 AM

I wonder though, why not get some small server somewhere and place a nice, friendly message for all of their/our visitors on a 1kb html page stating that things are being moved or back up shortly. ANYTHING is better than "server not found" for so long, people think we're out of business like this, bad Google/Facebook reputation etc..

If we were having 10k$ days, I probably wouldn't accept this, ever.

As in: being unloaded from a truck, which is litterally, in motion, or resolving to getting back up.

Which brings me to another question: is it likely that IP's are gonna change? This would mean we'd have to get whitelisted on several places again, buy renewed licenses for serverchanges etc.. Hopefully, it will not be that painful.

redwhiteandblue 06-25-2016 06:22 AM

Surely if that were the case they'd have mentioned it? Or at least you'd think so.

Naughty 06-25-2016 07:08 AM

Still nothing though... :/

If ip address change its news to me

But if they do its going to really screw with my business as 30+ of my client websites use my ip address. Monday morning is going to be fun.

I expected it to take a little longer.. It's right now 7:15 PDT so it's only over a hour so far.. I just dns redirected a few of my biggest domains so I'm not losing 11 hours of traffic.

We run stores, not really possible to redirect DNS ;/
This is the second time this past few months that is has been offline for this long though, last time for us.

I have never heard of downtime this long in the past 20 (?) years. It's sad really, just shouldn't happen.

We need to think of another strategy:/

Also, would have been nice if they'd warn us a few times this week, no just 14 days ago and then like a few minutes before. Who has time to think of this all day when doing actual business:/

Could have made some last backups as well then.

I'm getting my time zones mixed up I guess.

Cyrano 06-25-2016 07:54 AM

In fairness to AmeriNOC, they did issue multiple warnings and they're doing a fairly good job of providing updates through Twitter. As of 7:50 am pacific (or am 10:50 am eastern):

"Servers arrived @ 6 AM as scheduled, still takes time to rack, cable then power back up servers, there are a lot of servers involved."

"Several clients have asked about IP's, they will not change as part of the migration, the servers will come back online with the same IP's."

I was worried about this too, glad it's been answered.

AllAboutCams 06-25-2016 08:09 AM

Im happy about the ip's

Jigster715 06-25-2016 08:56 AM

Whoever decided to do this move on a weekend should be anally raped by a gang of gorillas.

Naughty 06-25-2016 09:05 AM

Still down. There goes the Saturday. 18.05hrs here now.

sandman! 06-25-2016 09:22 AM

there are ways to always stay up but they require multiple servers and alot of work to setup :2 cents::2 cents::2 cents:

Bladewire 06-25-2016 10:04 AM
