Trump will never be able to do more than Obama has to restrict Mexican Immigrants.

Since the election was over, Trump stated he did not want to throw them all out .
What he has said he wants to do was 'JUST GO AFTER THE CRIMINALS' and throw them out.
WELL... That is what Obama exactly did via executive order that got everyone in a stir.
It was a matter of spending a shrinking budget more effectively.
Where is the anger for Trump doing it. So Trump is going to resend Obama's executive order and make one of them same in his name?

The Republican Money Base wants the cheap labor and the suppression of wages in general.
That is why every time they think there could be a agreement on immigration, it gets busted with some BS by a few strong members in Congress .
The last time it was "Rewarding the immigrants with citizenship".
Because that would mean they would have to pay them minimum wages. And those that employ them would pay more taxes and have to provide a safe working environment.

Nobody really should have a problem with anyone working and paying taxes -- citizen or not.

If anyone can prove that have a job, been in the country for some qualifying time, and pass a criminal check then pass a 'terrorist affiliation' background check -- why should they not be allowed to stay?

Give the employer and the immigrant amnesty -- then make them come clean of any past due taxes ... work it out?

This sounds like a good idea in concept but there are a few issues with this.

The first problem is if they have come here illegally they have broken dozens of laws. Not only immigration, but local laws. There was one college student in Georgia who got pulled over by campus police. It turns out she had been in the US for some time - she had worked here illegally, didn't have a driver's license, insurance, etc. We cannot allow people to come to the United States illegally, break our laws, and then reward them with citizenship.

Also, we cannot just allow "everyone" to come over. We have to have some kind of limits or we will have billions of people come over.

We should also give people "long term temporary" Visas, meaning twenty or thirty years. My brother-in-law is married to a woman from Cuba; Her and her sister actually come into the country on a boat with their kids. Shortly after she became a US citizen she went on disability and has been on disability for over a decade now. If that is not enough, one of the kids that came over "on the boat" became a drug addict, got married, spit out seven kids, which are all now wards of the state. It's entirely possible this family has cost American taxpapers hundred of thousands of dollars.

There wont be a wall. Mexico was never going to pay for one, anyone with a brain understood that. Trump is just going to try to blame Congress now because they obviously will never fund such a stupid thing.

Trump has created a reality where immigration is this huge problem.

Chronic unemployment, state support payment (welfare, disability, SSI) are commonplace among natural born citizens as well as refugees and immigrants alike. Red Herring argument.

If employers knew they would be liable for back employment payroll taxes on under-the-table wages paid -- maybe they would not hire illegals in the first place...

They would just tunnel under any border wall if they knew a 'pot of gold' was on the other side ... Waste of money and a feel good answer that won't work out anyway (or never happen).
