I am just going to say what you are going to say.

You are going to say I tried to steal an idea of yours, that was mentioned in the car ride back along with many other ideas.

Dictionary.com's first listed meaning for steal is "To take (the property of another) without right or permission."

I asked you Sunday morning if you were going to be using the domain or if I could use it. Hence by asking for permission your assumption of me trying to steal was wrong. Nor was there any ever intention to steal or use the idea with a different domain because I was obviously asking permissions.

I had checked to see if the domain name was registered, it was not, so I decided to ask you. That is all. You ended up blowing up under false pretencies and then began to be the nastiest and most hurtful anyone has been to me in a long time.

Perhaps the initial message wasn't as specific as it should have been, so I am sorry for that.

If you have anything to say, please ICQ me as I don't really care to try to go into a war on GFY.

That's about as compressed as I can make it, but here's a shot:

I'm not sure where to start though I will say that he picked myself and Daymare (Jeff, my good local friend) went to Cybernet Expo together. Cameron who's a reviewer for some some sites and Raja his work partner were also with us.

I had asked if I could hitch a ride with DrinkingHard and Daymare and crash in their room as they were already planning to go and get a room with two double beds. They were both cool with it as it wouldn't of required anymore driving and I ended up pitching (and will soon pay for the rest of my share for the room bill).

So basically we all hung out and talked the whole way to Montreal, hung out a lot during Cybernet Expo and had a great time, each of us individually and as a group. This is where we all started to become friends and bond, and with friendship and bonding comes trust building.

We left Saturday afternoon as planned, and all agreed that another night of partying would have been too much, I agreed because I had only had 30 minutes of broken sleep Saturday night and was drinking until 9am. :glugglug

Anyways. During the drive back there were lots of things talked about, among them being various ideas and brainstorms and thoughts of certain events and people floating around.

The next day after I was home, Sunday, I remembered a domain name that DrinkingHard had mentioned and thought it was a good idea. I looked up the domain to see if he had registered it, though he had not, so I thought maybe he was not serious/not going to do it, so I decided to ask him.

I asked him if I could register the domain, and instead of getting the "No, I'm going to use it man" or something similar, DrinkingHard exploded and then began to threaten and say very nasty and hurtful things towards me. Had been more specific and direct as to my intentions perhaps the misunderstanding / misinterpretation would not have come this far on DrinkingHard's part. I don't know.

That is the original misunderstanding that I was trying to steal the domain or idea from him. I have talked to a few people and I can somewhat see how my initial non-specific question of the domain could of been distorted with negative assumptions.

Here is the second part that I imagine MakingCoin is talking about:

DrinkingHard had begun to talk about Jason, the owner of vidsvidsvids.com who he had talked to at the conference the night before, saying how he mocked him with everything he said and that he was full of himself, egotistical, and hoped that he would fail with all of his sites, etc.. I really don't remember specifics of what he said, DrinkingHard's impressions were wrong about him.

Yes, that was also told in the car ride back, and in confidence, and yes I told Jason what DrinkingHard had said because he was becoming a friend of mine as well. He invited me out with his good friend and their girlfriends to drink and had a really good time.

I was hurt from what DrinkingHard had said the night before and was asking friends to see if he was justified with being angry by getting different people's thoughts. The reason I told Jason was because I knew DrinkingHard didn't really give Jason any chance of getting to know him, and that he is actually a really nice guy. I told Jason not to worry or make anything of it because I knew DrinkingHard's opinion of who Jason really was was wrong.

I can't think of there being anything else that could be made public by DrinkingHard. I do apologize for telling Jason what you thought of him, though I wanted to let him know partially so he could talk to you so you'd get to know the actual Jason.

However, I am still hurt by the nasty things DrinkingHard said, I can understand with wrongful assumptions why he would get angry, but not the hurtful things he did.

I just wish this whole thing could be dropped and apologies exchanged.

It's an assumption made that things would be said would be in confidence to whomever is around.

It wasn't meant to spread hatred and I told Jason that to begin with. Jason had even told me that he was bullshitting and trying to act all high and mighty when he was talking with DrinkingHard. I wanted to try to help make things right between DrinkingHard and Jason.

Ran? Snitched? I ran, from what? It wasn't snitching. If you read what I said you would have realized that. I think this whole thing happened because of misunderstanding, and it's even continuing with your reply BVF.

i was too busy drinking and helping strippers work their way through school. I cant believe people find time for drama at a convention. Even labret and 12clicks came back as...well....they didnt fight to the death.

First of all, Nysus.. If your friend is going to have nuff cash on him, and you tell your other friend.. And he wants to rob the guy.. ANd you say no.. And he says fuck off I'll do what I want... Yer in a situation... At that point you're forced to choose sides because of your honesty. You think that because you're honest and a nice guy, that your duties end there.. But even you solving someone elses problem may cause a problem for you.. Like what happened here.

So, if you chose to tell your friend about something DH said in conversation, at that point you chose your loyalty. I certainly hope it was worth it.

Secondly, and more importantly, PEOPLE, Nysus is a nice guy. He's been nothing but polite and honest, and really does mean well. I think he deserves at least one break here!

And the moral of the story? Smoke a joint instead of getting drunk - things will go more smoothly.

Unless you consider Jason as a friend and DH as just another guy, you made a grave mistake "passing on the word". Just my opinion.
If two people you regard as friends/buddies talk trash about one another or even if only one side does that, you should keep silent on that. Its their problem. If you wanted, you could hint to Jason that you think DH got the wrong impression about him and maybe they should meet up - that is assuming you care about making peace between the two.

As to the domain name issue... I know you are a good guy and I also know you are a sensitive guy.. So you should have known that this subject is something you should approach with more care ESPECIALLY after you "ran and tell" Jason what DH said about him.. You should have expected DH not to act like fonzey about that...

Unless you thought its an idea that you both own and created you should have approached him with somethign like
"DH, listen, I really think the domain/idea you talked about the other day is good and worth doing. I was wondering if you are doing anything with it, in which case I would be happy to take part.. OR alternatively, if you have no intentions doing anything with it, would it be ok with you if I picked up the idea?"

If someone gets angry with you after such a question I would say that someone is a dick.
You have to be careful when handling issues of intelectual property, ideas and money. People tend to take that shit offensively.

My personal stand of that matter is that, there are so many ideas out there and enough good ones that its best to stay away from friction and contraversy. Whenever in doubt about such matters, just move on.

That being said, I think there is no reason flaming about anything but just talk like adults and come to an agreement between you.

Bashing you on GFY will get DH nowhere since you already told the story (unless we miss a crucial piece of the story ;)) since wise people can guess how DH see's the same story from his point of view.
