http://www.gfy.com/fucking-around-and-business-discussion/1010777-stop-blaming-tubes.html

you'll find it in the above thread, a tube user commenting about using torrents

its working, at least on the torrents. now just gotta find a way to apply this fear to using illegal tubes

torrent traffic has been on decline anyway. tubes remain steady. filehost traffic growing rapidly.

victory.

if you really think filesharing is going to disappear in our lifetimes you are insane.

insanity = not seeing what is real, reshaping reality to your desires and preconceptions.

I think all it would take is a couple news stories about torrent users being sued to scare the majority into avoiding them. Same with the file hosting sites. BUT no one is going to run a news story about a porn tube site.

the illegal tubes will be trickier but where there's a will there's a way

and remember, MSM is covering porn now- witness cnbc's coverage of AVN awards etc.
i wouldn't be surprised to see a few big stories about illegal tubes in the near future.

i agree the file hosting b.s. is an easier target so i suspect that will fail sooner than later.

on edit- the main thing is getting people to think they can be sued for using illegal tubes and downloading pirated videos therein. many already know about the virus/malware dangers, but its going to take more than that to bring the downfall...

The torrents will get it before porn tubes because the reality is that, excluding porn,
tubes already got it.

Youtube already went to the wire on copyright issues.

It's mainstream products that are getting the protection first.
It is also the mainstream that did the most to fight the problem.
Mainstream filed the bulk of claims against infringement.

Bottom line, porn sponsors have not done enough in the courts to
protect their rights.

if you think a couple news stories - which are already being reported btw - can roll back the larger, social and economic trends happening you are delusional. sorry.

the popular reaction to going after file sharers has been uniformly negative so news stories don't help the cause.

reality is something that doesn't go away when you stop believing in it.

Yeah exactly. Torrents and file sharers have mainstream stuff to worry about. Porn tubes, who's going to do anything about that?

I don't think for a second that all the illegal sharing could be stopped or reversed, but seeing people gossip about not using them because *gasp* they're illegal, and *gasp* people are getting in trouble, is a nice surprise.

What we all need to do is post horror stories about how people got a virus from a torrent that destroyed their computers.

i've written some of those

not far from the truth either, there are many stories of tubes about viruses/malware infecting people's computers and at the least making major inconviences...

i find those stories and post them as comments or on blogs to spread the word.

there was a spate of news stories a little while back about security concerns about youporn and some other porn tubes.

someone posted here a while back that they polled 1000 members of their various sites with the general question: "Why do you pay for porn?"

and the biggest response was "because i'm tired of getting virus/malware/email spam from tubes and torrents"

the comment from that user in your original post is hardly an isolated incident, millions of people are quite aware of whats going on with torrents now so they are staying away.

before the onslaught of legal action against torrent sites and downloaders everyone would say (you can find countless posts in the archives here) "they'll never get to torrents, torrents are here to stay blah blah blah"

so its understandable when people say "they'll never get to the illegal tubes etc" and its only because the right way, the effective way, has yet to be presented...

in summary, people who think adult industry lawyers don't have the clout or wherewithall to find the tube's "achilles heel" think again...

I know the lawyers have the ability.

But here is the real deal :

Plenty of sponsors that got their content ripped wanted to wait and see
how it was going to turn out. They were trying to measure the type in traffic
from the ripped content. They in fact do get type in traffic that probably converts
at a high rate because why type in if you don't want to join when it's already free on the
tube you are currently looking at. The type in wants more and faster updates of
that specific material.

The second sponsor problem is that some of them are so fucked up that they
fear filing claims because the disclosure of their activities may back fire.

Filing a suit against the tube owner who used to be an affiliate that got shaved
and found out will probably back fire.

file sharing has always been around and always will be...but, making it harder for the average joe surfer to get in on it is what needs to happen and slowly is happening.
it used to take a lot more technical knowledge, skills and connections, then it became easier and easier.

absolutely, and i'm sure some sponsors have found that letting the pirates do their thing is actually boosting their own sales

but to the majority...no. and when some of the biggies figure out an iron clad way to attack illegal tubes across the board there will be no mercy

lets put it this way, i'm sure that Larry Flynt and co. (for example) give a rats ass about having to disclose their activities;)

lawyers guns and money...

absolutely, the idea that theft in this world will be stopped is ludicrous, but the idea that piracy can be badly maimed is a reality...now.

That's funny, because not a single person I know has stopped using torrents. In fact, more and more are downloading tv shows and movies through torrents. I guess they didn't get the memo.

This thread is pretty funny.
