Maybe collecting emails, direct marketing is obvious but then why SO many sites don't do it?

I do offer a FREE 3 day trial with no credit card on a mainstream site and sales immediately, I mean 4 days after implemented have doubled. It's all those little things, I give full access on that site because I need the members to use it and realize they need it. Porn, different, they don't need it. So you have to tease them, but not collecting emails first is just silly.

I did give more "valid" advice then you summed up... just re-read it ;)
Yeah, I saw and paid acknowledgement as you can see. I think you have given a few great tips here that went beyond the obvious and certainly shown enough of your hand to let people know that you do have marketing savvy. And nothing wrong with the sort of macro-level should-be-obvious-to-everyone style advice either. Plenty of people need to hear that too even though most times it will go in one side and out the other.

I just like to see real biz discussions every now and then between hot new model, look who didn't pay, and the industry is dying threads.

Sure I'll take a look. Difficult if this is a new project without a history of sales, but either way, I would be more then happy.

I was typing my first response when you posted your second. Appreciate the comments

My old partner used to say it doesn't matter what is changed... the site will make X amount and that is it. He always thought, and still does by his current gfy posts, that it is about the quality of the site that matters. Now that is true for rebills, but if you don't get the initial sale, where are you at?

He also can't understand how the site was making 100K/yr and now fully in his control only 50K oh well... to each his own.

"Differentiating Your Free Offering From a Paid Offering

This is probably the hardest part, and probably one that will take a number of iterations to get right. You might always be tweaking the location of the upsell points that entice a free user to pay for your premium offering. Start with putting these upsell points in places where there is some value for the free user to need more and it?s evident there will be an increase of value if they turn into a paid user"

Constantly tweaking is 100% right on the money. It will always evolve and it can be as simple as pre-checking the right box on the upsell, cutting the free video at the right time, a popup to premium implemented at the right time, etc...

To answer your question, the site from $1500 to $4500 is from changes made from October '10 to date.

ah good work then man.

ya i did about the same for 1 site during 2010 and then for 2 sites between last summer and now. the money is out there. of course i haven't integrated this free join thing. its an interesting concept for sure.

porn webmasters - and surfers - are pretty basic. you can't make things too difficult, although setting this in motion could be as easy as making photo sets free for registered members and making videos pay-per-view or require a vip upgrade. i'll have to think about it and decide if its a worthwhile feature to add to PornCMS. i have another development cycle starting in March

Interesting, lately I have discovered that the 2010+ way to survive is tracking everything, campaigns, randomly trying anything and everything, staring at statistics for days on end, etc etc etc, there's a lot of little shit to pay attention to and it all pays off as everything I am doing is doubling every month or 2 months. Of the 10+ years I have been making an income online I can honestly say these are the most fun and interesting times.

So is this all it takes to become a ICQ consultant on GFY?

1. Create Thread
2. Make outlandish unsubstantiated claims regarding doubling and tripling profits
3. Give out generic About.com quality advice
4. ICQ
5. ????????
6. Profit?

I've used several methods for sending emails...

1) Smaller batches of emails I can send from my own IP and use a program plugin for excel. It's called XL email manager for outlook.

2) An automated email file installed on server to send to free members after a certain number of days using a cron.

3) I've used database software like amember which had it customized so I could select exactly the group of members I wanted to send to... ie paid and now expired, free, current members etc.

I'm still on the search to find the best way not to get flagged for spam, whether it is spam or not, whenever you send many emails it always triggers a flag. I've asked this question numerous times and still have yet to find a great solution.

from what i've learned its the IP that gets blacklisted. a few years ago i ordered a brand new dedicated server for a client to use a mail server. shortly after setting it up we found out that the IP had been previously used as a spam server so all the client's emails were being pushed directly to spam/junk. i ordered the IP changed and the problem was solved.

for emailing porn, what i usually do is use phplist with an smtp email thats on a shared hosting plan. if the smtp ip gets blacklisted, i move it to another one and continue. those accounts are so cheap and easy to set up. the shared host won't care unless you are mailing thousands of emails a day.

1. www.misterpeabodyworld.com is merely my network homepage, a central place for all the tours to link to, a "hub". I never send any "direct" traffic there; surfers go there to check out the Updates, or to learn more about me/the network. Sure, I make sales from that site but only a handful.

I send direct traffic to the tours themselves, like here:

http://www.erosexotica.com/index1.html

2. I've A-B tested both stand-alone tours (where I don't advertise the rest of the network) and what you see now; 8-1, or 8x more sales WITH that table of thumbs at the bottom advertising the network. I don't care how ugly it looks, it works.

3. Because everything is "linked up" we get tons of sales from "bounce around" traffic; someone comes to ErosExotica but joins MILF Mia, etc (and vice versa). Affiliates may think those are all "traffic leaks" but because I'm a CCBill sponser the aff gets credit no matter which site they send traffic to. In other words, someone sends traffic to Chubby Blondy from their BBW blog, and they get a sale from Amazing Cleo, etc. Once affiliates realize this they get SUPER HAPPY and just start pumping hits, and everyone wins.

Having said all of the above, some tours in my network are "whales", some are steady performers, some do so-so and some act merely as "bonus sites". In the end, my bottom line coninues to grow so ultimately, while I'm still building my network/empire, I don't really care. When I start to concentrate on building purely traffic sites/sources (later this year) I suspect even more growth.

4. Lastly, I don't believe in free memberships or trials. Perhaps through free sites or some such but I've also tested $1 trials, $2.95 trials, even odd-pricing/length trials, like $3.95 for 3 days, etc. I believe, if someone wants to Join they'll fucking pay the thirty bucks. Those cheap/hesitant bastards who go for the trials? Fuck 'em. Come back when you're serious, boy.

Plus, I do "splits" with models and producers, and how do you "split" $1? LOL IF I'd get tons more actual memberships then believe me, I would do trials. I just don't.

Everyone's got a differant business model that works for them, right?
I see you have 34.95 for only one month option, why dont u make it recurring? So atleast u get some rebills.

for emailing porn, what i usually do is use phplist with an smtp email thats on a shared hosting plan. if the smtp ip gets blacklisted, i move it to another one and continue. those accounts are so cheap and easy to set up. the shared host won't care unless you are mailing thousands of emails a day.
Using a shared plan is good advice... ty

right now I can reset my modem and get new IP... so doing that right now

Mark, please post a timeline of the income of the site. Please be clear to show how it sank the 50% from October '09 to November '10. Also, please point out that you had complete control of the site until September '10 (explain why you had complete control of the site). Share with everyone why you were sued in June '10 and why. Also, let everyone know of who funded these projects.

Until then, shut the fuck up and quit bringing me into these conversations. Nobody here is impressed by your talk and lack of success.

Well... no need to get personal. I don't recall mentioning anything about neptunedrew in this thread. Did somebody call you up and force you into this thread which is almost 2 weeks old.

Why are you logging in on gfy and checking my thread history? You trying to sue or something?

I took a look at your program and sites. I will say that a TON of work has been done to those sites over time.

Here is a couple things:

Some of the asian girls aren't that attractive and are used in your very colorful header banners. The designs are screaming look how much shit I can put on a page.

I would do this... take all your content and create another site. Dumb the imagery down, show that you update each week and show those dates and make sure they are legit. Also find a cam plugin for your members section who specialize in asian girls... I know there are some around here.

Regarding your billing... you use epoch which is decent but simply add step 1 of 2 to the link at the bottom. Do not put all that information about epoch is your secure, etc. and also do not mention that ccbill is your backup, no surfer cares about that.

... Also, the page to join does not need to be so colorful either, you could try and simply put text of the additional sites with maybe a mouse over pop up of the screen shot. This I am talking about your existing sites not the new one. A calm page to join is what I recommend for your existing sites.

As always, I recommend the partial free trial so you can collect tons of emails and email them. I would do this on the new site you create if you heed my advice.

What we've noticed over time is it's not the hottest girls that our customers seem to want/like the most.. For instance, our members' current favorite model on TP is Sonja.. a slightly overweight milf housewife type. We've had so many demands to reshoot her that we're scheduling another shoot in a few weeks. I do agree with you about the header, at least on trikepatrol anyway.. I don't much like the current one at all ><

As far as images go, aside from the headers there's really no extra graphics, aside from the content itself. This of course isn't really the case for the lanalee site, but that's a partnership and they wanted to maintain control over the general look. That one's really out of my hands. But our other tours' focus is primarily on the content.

We show release dates on all of our sites in both the tour and members areas, so good to go there.. We've recently reconstructed our members sections and tied them into one global site and are still cleaning up, so the asian specific cam ads will be back within the next few days.

Billing, I'll assume you meant zombaio.. and that was pretty much a requirement for them in order to get our sites approved. Not sure if we can remove that one... but I do believe we've dumbed it down as much as possible by making it text only as opposed to the big "seal" image they want us to use. I'll see about trying to dumb it down more though as I agree that it's a pretty useless waste of space.

Same goes for dumbing down the join page itself.. I tend to think along the same lines as you in this regard.. but my partner has other opinions; so I'll try to find a compromise ><

I like the idea about the partial free trial though and will see about how we can implement this into our new sites as well as our existing.

All in all, thanks for the input. I'm not sure if we can do everything you suggested but we'll try to do some of them and see how things go ><

Oh, forgot to add.. trikepatrol is our oldest site, which also has the oldest look. The very first thing on our list once we absorb these other sites and get them launched is to do an overhaul of trikepatrol as it's still our biggest money maker. We're only a 2 man operation though so finding time to do as many things as we want is a bit tough.. but we've definitely been making tons of progress over the last year.

I am pretty sure it is, but he has brought his game face today and is very worth listening to.

I never saw him as a Troll personally, but i do recall seeing him posting when drunk and the problem with that is that when you are recounting the intimate details of your life's moments on a forum, people automatically remember you for those moments and not what you have accomplished, or are capable of business wise.

Anyway, I hope this leads to some paid consultant work for him. There is only so much you should give for free to demonstrate your potential worth.

http://www.trikepatrol.com/tour/ has no dates. That was the site I was referring to. I noticed another site had dates back to about march of 2010 or so.

I used zombaio and they had an overseas requirement but never had to place on the join page... take a look at that.

Oh, right.. yeah, trikepatrol doesn't have dates on the main tour page.. on the actual content pages (in the tour as well) there are dates but we're definitely adding them back to the main tour page as well once we go through the overhaul.

RE Zombaio - This is the email we got from them during site approval process:

You have just added a new site to your account that shortly will be reviewed by our compliance team. Since you will accept Visa and MasterCard transactions you need due to current regulations display the following text on your "pre-join page"*. We also recommend you to put this text on your "contact us", "terms and conditions" and "18 USC 2257" page.

TEXT THAT MUST BE DISPLAYED:
Zombaio.com (IOMS AB) is our authorized distributor, merchant and access management provider.

Sometimes this text needs to be updated to follow further regulations; therefore we have created a script you can add to your site instead of the text. This script will show the latest required text without your manual update to all your pages. We strongly recommend you to use the script instead of the static text.

Copy and paste this script to your site:
[big site seal image code here]

That's new then... I only added to 2257. Still... get rid of all that additional text implying if any problems etc. as well as the ccbill backup. You are trying to make a sale, no potential customer wants to read anything about a potential problem
