what mouse to use for photoshopping?

What do you guys and silly girls use to photoshop?
I did buy a mouse not long ago and had the choice of only 1 mouse with a normal wire instead of wireless.
Problem is only if i try to make nice cutouts sometimes the mouse just jumps a few milimeters to any direction with no reason whatsoever.

with or without mousepad?
with or with no cord?

I find that the new photoshop helps one be exact without a top of the line mouse. The program is so smart, its nuts to think about how much development goes into it.

I just use a bottomshelf microsoft wireless mouse.

I gave you the best suggestion. Granted, it's not the cheapest suggestion, but it is in fact the best.

price/quality consideration is always a big part of being best for me or not.

You don't need a Cintiq to enjoy Wacom products for Photoshopping. Get yourself an Intuos tablet, they are great once you get used to it. $200 for the small size.

i have the same problem with mice - never had problems with jumpy mice with the old style mice with rubber ball but optical mice just suck, i try without mouse pad, with mouse pad - still jumpy. thought maybe it was virus related but it's not.

i do buy cheap mice - never thought about buying a more expensive one.

I use this mouse for everything including Photoshop. It's both good and bad.

It's GOOD because it's multi-touch sensitive. Your fingers can flick pages, zoom in, move left/right up down. It understands gestures just like an iphone 4 and is very easy to learn and master.

It's BAD because its a little too small. I'm 6'3" and therefore have big hands and long fingers and if I position myself so that the back of my hand is on the back of the mouse, the front edge of the mouse ends where my middle knuckles are. In other words, my knuckles are where my finger tips should be. This is a serious design flaw in my head. Apple's mice should be larger in size similar to Microsoft's or Logitech's.

Otherwise, it's still a killer mouse.

I highly recommend using a Wacom Intuos. They are incredible, you will laugh at how much easier it is to be accurate. When you don't want to use the pen they provide a mouse that works on top of the tablet as well.

If you are in photoshop for more than 3 hours a day, make the investment. You will never look back or wonder if it was money well spent.

Just looking at them, but the 200 dollars is 200 euros where i live and that is for the teeny tiny one too.
The big one looks realy nice but they charge 600 euros for it lol.
And i wonder if the smallest one is any good.

Trackball over a mouse for any app. Tablet (Wacom) for drawing stuff, but for general photo edits a trackball will do just fine. Haven't tried the trackpad from Apple yet, but if it's similar as the ones on their laptop line then I would not mind using that for a desktop as well.

In short, throw away your mouse, don't understand why people still wanna use it.

I use a Logitech Laser Mouse MX1100 and it works pretty good but a tablet is next so I can do even finer details.
