what single person/actor/comedian has made you laugh most in your lifetime?

there are lots of funny people in this world but when i asked myself this question I realized that the answer is Homer Simpson, taking into consideration he's been doing it for what - 25-30 years? he never gets old, somebody embedded an 8 second youtube video of Homer, i clicked play - laughed out loud.

It's changed over time for me. Steve Martin was the shit in the late 70's, early 80's; now he's become an albino lump of putty.

Edina and Patsy did it for me in the 90's (one wasn't funny without the other, just tragic). They were the three stooges as two, with the added hilarity of vodka, cocaine, and indiscriminate sex. But, in the newer series version, they just turned into boardwalk caricatures of themselves.

These days, I can't do without Archer.

I'd probably have to say Seth MacFarlane because of Family Guy. That's one of the few shows on TV that makes me laugh every single time I watch it.

for stand up I have many favourites but the top few for me are: Dave Attell, Patton Oswald, George Carlin, Louis CK and Stephen Wright.

Cartman and southpark in general has been pushing the lines of comedy for years. Not all their stuff is gold but they sure do have their moments.

Family Guy is up there but it is a little overrated. Macfarlane is one talented dude though.

I can't even look at Zach Galifiankis without laughing, but Jack Black is probably the one that's made me me laugh more than anyone.

Lee Evans is my favourate. I cannot stand american stand-ups, I think stand up comedy is one area where the atlantic gap is at it's widest.

yes Homer writes his own material

on Howard Stern there are lots of people who are funny, it's not just Howard. Homer all by himself is responsible for thousands of funny bits and quotes. multiplied by 25 years of Simpson's episodes I can't think of any one person/character responsible for making me laugh out loud more times. I'm not even a huge Simpsons fan.

sure there are great comedians and actors who've had a lot of memorable hilarious lines and moments but nowhere near as many as Homer. i'm talking quantity not just quality.

and it is easier to put funny lines into a cartoon character's mouth than a real person's.

Homer is da shitnizz, as well as Eric Cartman, but going to real people, I would say Steve Martin, Ricky Gervais, Nick Frost, Jack Black and in a second line Ben Stiller, Steve Carell, Jim Carrey, Simon Pegg and John Cleese.

Also I like Gerard Depardieu a lot when he does comedy and I think Jean Reno is the best sidekick for any comedian star

and I also like the guy that plays Phil Dunphy in "Modern Family" and of course Sheldon from Big Bang Theory

Honestly, if you add up all the times your friends and family have made you laugh out loud, it far outweighs any comedian or actor.

But beyond that, I would have to pick The Simpsons. I don't watch it as much anymore, but those characters have been around for like 20 years. No other show has put out that level of content for such a long period of time.

I'm not knocking the fact Homer is funny, I just thought it was odd you specifically said which single person then chose a cartoon character written by many different people.

Likewise Bill Hicks. You never know if that was 'better' from the point of view of their comedy though. Ie, it didn't get a chance to grow stale or outstay its welcome.

In addition to Curb, if you factor in his writing for Seinfeld, it's gotta be LD.

Sam Kinison. Died way too early for me.

Louis CK has his moments, and when he does damn that guy cracks me up.

I have to mention Don Rickles as well. Been cutting people up for 50+ years now.
