CCBill Web Admin and Quick Stats Report Update

Good Morning Everyone,

Just wanted to make a brief post and let you all know that we are currently aware of the issues pertaining to our admin portal as well as our Quickstats reporting, which some of you might be experiencing this morning. At this time our development teams have isolated the issue causing this problem and should have full functionality restored shortly.

As always, Client Support is available and ready to assist should you have any questions or concerns.

Just a quick update, at this time, both the Admin and the Quickstats reporting issues have been resolved.

Thank you

Well when I'm using Firefox, Chrome, or Opera...I have to keep refreshing several times until CCBill will actually load any of the transaction pages because it repeatedly gets stuck. It's just really frustating that I have to do this multiple times every time I need to view my stats.

In regards to the browsers, we are addressing a couple of bugs with some browsers, so if you are having complications with a specific browser, please forward us over the browser type, as well as the specific version of that browser. This will help us to further isolate issues such as this.

Note that I track all of these issues and we have some key projects in the works to make to our reporting system to better ? so please help us build a better product with your feedback and direct reporting of your issues to my Support team.

To add to what James said ? we know that the admin can be slow, especially when pulling larger reports ? there?s a lot of data in there.
And as part of our continuing 2012 drive forward with CCBill - we have been actively working to provide better tool/speed in the reporting system.
One thing has been the replacement of the entire backend database with a leading-edge data warehouse. So with processing data going back 10+ years that?s a lot of data (Not many processors provide as far back as CCBill does.)

And with 130+ basic reports in the system (each with its own set of parameters), as well as our datalink system integrated in the backend warehouse too, migration is going to take some time ? so that we don?t impact your stats.
It?s like remodeling your house, while you are living in it.

So far we have about 30% of the migration completed ? mostly on the merchant side at this point. The results won?t be visible as a change in the system ? you will just notice faster loading.

As I noted ? the data warehouse is only one piece we are working on - we are knocking out various improvements and optimizations to make to our reporting system better. Thanks for your patience while we try to make improvements.

I appreciate the old data as it comes in handy once in awhile.. however why not just archive stats that are over 3 years old to another area that webmasters have to go to in order to pull those stats?

that might ease some of the burden..

I have got to say that for several months now it has just been ridiculous.. click click click and it's a 70% chance it will just sit there and hang.. 30% chance you will get the report (even on reports for just a 2 week span).

Not a bad idea for a short term fix - I'll pass it along.
But longterm, you shouldn't need to go to two locations, IMO.

That is what I always tell to my customers who are sick of CCBill's slow stats:
Parsing a database of 100's and 100's gigs of data takes time. CCBill is a victim of it success and longetivity.

Why not? Do you really believe we wouldn't prefer to click somewhere else for stats older than eg 3 years, if it means 99.99% of the time we don't have these issues?

Lots of companies have vast amounts data - They use the money they make to upgrade as they grow. They don't wait until the system is virtually collapsing and then try and fix it.

Before someone comes on and says they do upgrade on a regular basis - Obviously not enough!!

And seriously, until someone posted it here you had never thought of archiving old data?

There are so many programs I would love to use but I will not touch because of CCBill.

Even being paid by them is a pain in the ass!

It does most of the time. So then you add "PARTITION BY" to a couple of the table definitions and it runs literally a hundred times faster. Twitter has 140 million users and a billion tweets and their MySQL database isn't slow. Just because most large databases are slow doesn't mean they have to be. Wikipedia uses a very large MySQL database and it isn't slow. Youtube's pages aren't slow, and they come from a MySQL database.

A few simple changes could make CCBill's database a thousand times faster, they just need to contract a database person to do it. In house techs have convinced management to go with a data warehouse and while that may be a good idea, there's no reason the MySQL side should be slow. Their database isn't bigger than Youtube or Twitter.

Google's database is petabytes and while it's not running MySQL for the most part, it gives you results as you type the query.

I hope the CCBill devs have looked at:

Glad to hear you're on the problem CCBill. Though as others are saying.. you've been slow for a very long time. Stats are broken in chrome for me. I've reported this various times with detailed chrome javascript debug reports but all I've gotten was "We can't reproduce the problem here". I guess it's nice to know now you can (?). You know Chrome is one of the biggest webbrowsers now right? And your product is broken in Chrome...

Who not throw a pile of money at the problem and get it fixed by a company/consultant who knows modern web solutions and database scaling.

Thanks CCBill for trying to fix this issue but as others have posted here, the "solutions" should be relatively easy and not take months. I understand renovating a house while you're still living in it, but there's absolutely no reason why you couldn't "seperate out" data from 3 years ago right now, put them in a seperate database etc, and move along. How many CCBill clients search for 3+ years of data on a daily basis? 2% or less?

So make a post in the Admin, like you do when there's 'news' or a Holiday, and say: "For the next x number of weeks/months you will need to contact CCBill directly for any reports over 3 years old." There, done.

But good luck with everything! (I also like raymor's solution.)

Who gives a shit about how slow the admin is when the real problem is chargebacks and how you authenticate users. When is ccbill going to implement some kind of authentication method like google uses? Something to actually verify the person is who they say they are by forcing them to give real info like their real phone number. Why is it so hard for you guys to implement a method where it sends a text to the users phone instead of their fake ass untraceable email? This should be an option available to webmasters to use. I think your clients deserve more attention here than you guys currently provide. I think 85% of users figured out they can sign up to a site and simply chargeback the card when they're done. So now it's time for ccbill to play some catch up in this field. So do something already!

I had trouble with queries that were only a month old (have to wait a good minute or more). Love how they just ignore comments, they can afford to.

last couple of weeks we have been lucky to get quick stats to load 1 in 50 attempts.

Anyone else getting similar problems over the last 2 weeks?

We are onto ccbill live support now and they say there is NO issues whatsoever...
